Soccer jerseys and specifically Messi are all the rage in my area with the kids. My son has an Inter Miami one - but it's a knockoff so we didn't have to spend a shitload.
I had probably a dozen Auburn jerseys. Didn't really wear them anymore, when my son was born I gave them to my mom to make him a quilt out of them. Turned out pretty cool IYAM
So for some reason I was a big Terrell Davis fan. I just thought he was cool. Breath rite strip, gloves with fingers cut out, just a bad ass. In turn I became a Broncos fan. Anyway I wanted a jersey but my mom wouldn’t let me have the jersey for a black player so ended up with Elway. I still dream of owning a TD jersey…that I would never wear. I had hoped as a young boy to become an NFL running back.
I was just giving the reason since we were talking about jersey wearing. No racism meant and I think my posting history (what little there is) shows that. More pointing my desire to wear a jersey and my rwcist mom not being ok with it. Not sure that’s a reflection on me.
If you like retro jerseys Royal Retros does custom ones that are pretty cool. I have an early 80s braves jersey they made for me with Strider's name and number.
My son all of the sudden won't shut up about Messi. I told him that on Christmas or birthday, I'd get him a Messi jersey if he could pick him out of a team picture, thinking there was no chance. Son of a bitch got it. Also for all the Dads Ebay is great for youth jerseys.
Our boys love wearing jerseys, mainly soccer, so we started ordering a mystery kit for them each Christmas and they really like that.
I was given a protip to search "messi jersey walmart" and I'll be damned, you can buy knockoffs via walmart.com. Got some Messi birthday party decorations on Amazon for relatively cheap too.
We got our kids Messi kits off Etsy, they are knockoffs but look pretty decent. We went to the Inter Miami - Chicago FC game over Labor Day weekend and there had to be thousands of kids in the same type of knockoffs you'd get on Etsy, Walmart, etc. They have to make a killing on those things.
I've got a couple Chiefs jerseys I wear to games (Mahomes, McDuffie), a Cooperstown powder blue Bo Jackson Royals jersey that I think is pretty sweet and will wear to breweries or to somebody's back yard in the summer, and a couple team USA kits. I guess I'm a bigger jersey guy than I realized.
Ebay is a fantastic resource for jerseys period. The hockey jersey market on there is awesome. Can routinely find old jerseys of Hall of Famers in great condition for $40-$50.
