Had a sibling get together Friday night and that's what I did; Topo Chico with lime along with a couple CBD seltzers. Plus, I went to a bar Friday afternoon for a bit after work and had club soda and lime. So far so good. I am actually probably getting less but better sleep overall cause I am staying up a little later, but still feel good waking up. Nice not waking up foggy with a slight headache. Shooting to hold strong until a camping trip at the end of the month.
What's the calories on those NA IPAs? I'm kinda interested in trying them but if I'm getting the same # of calories without the buzz I'll just stick to water.
there are times that I go a little bit without drinking and I realized that (for me) it was the ritual of having a drink in my hand that I missed. I learned that having a water or seltzer water satisfied that ritual. It also kept people from offering me a drink since I was holding something. Now I’m not saying that will work for everyone but it’s a thought.
At a work retreat/strategic planning meeting this week, so my dry January is on hiatus. No way I’m going through this week sober. Will pick back up when I get home and add a week into February.
stick to water. If you’re already doing that imo healthier less calories. If you’re having a hard time with just water than check them out but if you can do it with water I’m team water.
Brandon Chicken put me on adding bitters to the Topo and it’s elite. Topo chico over ice + 2 dashes Ango orange bitters + squeeze of lime/lemon I actually get excited about that drink now when driving home from work.
So does vanilla extract. You giving up cookies for dry January? The alcohol content in a few dashes of bitters is definitely negligible.
But that’s the ticket for me, except I just put a splash of Sprite Zero in a glass of water instead of wasting money on fancy water. I also add a splash of Mio and THC powder though.
Alcohol is cooked/baked off when you make cookies. Adding alcohol to a drink that's supposed to be non-alcoholic sort of defeats the purpose. No judgment and you're right in that it's not a ton but it's still there. Bitters are 44.7% abv.
Yeah, I think there’s less alcohol in 2 dashes of bitters in water than there is in either kombucha or NA beers.
Had my first ones yesterday and they weren't that bad. Not something I'll have often but worth while this month. I'm doing my first ever dry January (or dry month), since I started drinking abt 20 yrs ago. Not an alcoholic but enjoyed drinks while playing golf or watching football or whatever. Giving this a go this month, though I started on the 2nd as I wanted to have a few watching the games that day. Already have a fancy meal reservation set for Feb 3 where I'll enjoy some wine.
Don’t be dense, Bo. The seltzer/bitters/lemon drink has been a staple of mine for years, even when not abstaining. It’s just delicious.

I'm late to the thread but I've been dry since the 2nd. And my first and only craving has been yesterday when work stuff hit the fan. Other than that, I like not feeling like garbage in the morning. Other illicit substances have helped take the edge off and relax on weekends. But then I sleep well and feel good in the morning. I think that may be a more common occurrence going forward, even when I'm back on the wagon. The munchies hit hard though - gotta get better at that. It's helped that the weather has been shitty and so leaving the house and social activities have been limited to this point. I'm sure I'd be more tempted if I was watching playoff games with friends or whatever.
i was close to pouring a cocktail when Saban retired. then iced in with the kids for four days and still held strong. now we are smooth sailing.
I'm smooth sailing with the not drinking part, but I don't drink a lot to begin with. I'm not smoking or eating gummies either though. That's been a little bit tougher. Not terrible, but sitting down to watch a good show and not getting baked beforehand is a little annoying. Not getting the munchies every night has been real cool. I might have my beach bod by mid February! The things I do to turn One Two on!
Haven’t posted but I’m three weeks in. Since I'm doing Sober January, I'm considering doing Fucked Up February. Not really, But I'm excited to have a low tolerance for THC for a few weeks.
Going on a seven day cruise on 2/17 with unlimited drink package in hand. Will definitely need a little warm up before then after taking the month off.
Been doing great and finally starting to get better sleep too. I’ve worked out more than usual and have zero cravings. Went bowling, multiple dinners, one bar, etc and had zero problems… bought tix to the Lions game for Sunday. My month is ending Sunday morning
And I'm far too cheap to not get my money's worth. Got it at $72 per day, so need like 5 or 6 drinks per day to make it worth it. Easy
Have not been dry, but haven't bought any beer. I'll still pour a glass of wine while I cook and eat, but now a bottle is last 3 days rather than one. I can tell a big difference mentally and with the amount of sleep I'm getting.
I’ve felt shit for fuck as far as feeling any benefits go. I’ve lost weight but I’m also doing no carbs and cardio daily but I’m sure the no booze is helping. Was hoping sleep would be easier but I still toss/turn all night till 20 mins before my alarm goes off.

I was going through 3 grams a week of shatter. I'm hoping to get that down for a few weeks. That was my only desire from it. That and the bigger dick thing, but I'm starting to think that was just bullshit.
