Definitely. Three different people with different agenda's trying to have a say and it's going haywire.
Exactly. Logan was always playing chess while his failsons were playing checkers and so the intrigue of life after Logan is seeing these idiots pull the same maneuvers that Logan would squash but actually getting what they want (to the detriment of everyone else and themselves).
I meant from an entertainment standpoint for me personally. Sort of feels like the siblings are all great supporting characters, but none are strong enough to take the lead on maneuvering. Maybe that's a hot take.
As much as I would’ve loved to see Logan until the end, we needed this powerful vacuum because the kids were always gonna fuck up and I think it’s nice how Logan’s presence still looks over everything
Well let’s all hold out hope that the failroys fucked it up and have to walk it back, although this is not a show with any happy endings
Logan’s last words to his kids being when he called them all jokes was so goddamn perfect. They are all terrible, and they are all dumb. I cannot wait to see how it all implodes.
Ken is the only sibling I find somewhat interesting right now. The conflict he was showing tonight was compelling. Roman and Shiv were like the angel and demon on his shoulder.
Imo the show ends with the Gojo deal still proceeding but the kids are fractured and the Pierce deal falls through, effectively neutering all the kids status/access, leaving them all rich and miserable. And Willow probably divorces Con for getting into bed with Mencken.
It seems clearly headed toward ATN getting absolutely roasted by every platform, the company losing a ton of value and Roman and Ken getting pushed out really quickly and even if Mencken wins reneging on his deal with Rome. The previews for next week made you think that Roman is in a headspace where he's going to destroy Shiv and Ken.
He said "some people just can't cut a deal, Fikret." He was talking to his driver but I'm not 100% sure what it meant (though I suppose it could just be about Shiv's attempt to make a deal with Mattson).
Now that I've seen it I'm not sure I would say that was the most shocking episode of the season like the producers claimed.
I read it as him trying to rationalize backing Mencken because the Jimenez camp wouldn’t commit to killing the Gojo deal.
I will say that Shiv is great in the role of being an uncomfortable person. She reminds me of the sister from dexter. Sometimes I forget she's a real actress, but obviously it's because she's so good.
I don’t think that’s clear at all. I wouldn’t plan to get some clean ending where all the assholes lose from Jesse Armstrong
Wasn’t there a scene in the season preview where Roman is in the middle of a riot? Am I nuts? I just thought about that and if so, I imagine there is something to the election being called incorrectly by ATN.
The scariest thing about this episode is how much influence a handful of idiots can have over the country.
I think they're going for with that with both of the brothers. Kendall barely hesitating to do what is clearly damaging to his daughter and family purely out of greed and self interest. Lot of focus about him being a bad father in this episode... remind you of anyone?
Was it even the right thing for Kendall? Yeah he’s the co-CEO but assuming the election result stands, Roman is the power broker with the President.
On top of everything else, I thought last night was an interesting look at how these high powered executives... don't really do anything. Tom spent all Ep 7 talking about how tired he was and how busy he is, and all he did was sit at a laptop. The only hands-on managing he did was yell at the worker bees about the touchscreen. He told everyone in earshot how important he was and how he and he alone made the calls, yet when it was time to call Arizona, he passed the hot potato to Kendall.
My guess is that the Weeds guy becoming prez allows them to tank the Gojo acquisition and then Kendall can enact his real plan to buy Goho instead
I'm confused why Kendall wants/needs the Gojo acquisition blocked? When the phony numbers come out it will tank their stock price and Waystar will be able to buy them. Was Kendall just putting on that front to hide the truth about the phony numbers from Roman?
I understand why Kendall wants the block. But I don’t understand how he thinks he could then acquire Gojo
My understanding was if the info about the inflated subscription numbers got out there it would impact the deal with Gojo/Waystar, then also hurt their stock price which would allow them to acquire it at the cheaper price.
That makes sense. I’m just saying if it’s blocked in one direction, wouldn’t it get blocked in the other? I guess logic has no place in politics. But Roman has control of the president now so I don’t see that deal going through - at least not with Kendall as the one head.
I think they are building Roman up to get his head chopped off. My guess is all the characters end the show as they started, but especially Roman - jerking off on a window. His lust for power in this episode was so blinding he will run straight into the buzzsaw and never see it.
That’s what SHOULD happen, but this show is all about just how fucked capitalism is, which is why he will win now that he’s going full shit stain.
