apparently melodic death metal is not dead though we all know it is looks like a cover Hammerfall would come up with
definitely one of my favorite labels, but it’s a niche sound they put out. their release schedule and merchandise are awful though
that Wayfarer album is sick. honestly the idea of wild west black metal didn't appeal to me very much but it's really good
not the thread's cup of tea Two of my favorite releases within the past few years. Deathcore, blackened death metal, symphonic deathcore and greatness.
it’s fine. the music is pretty tight but the vocals are kinda weak. and the album art made me cringe - i’m honestly so over the violence against women trope. it’s without a doubt my least favorite part of the genre. i’ll listen to bleeding profusely instead of that every time
i can’t give the genre up, but it definitely factors into my enjoyment of individual releases and bands. luckily there’s tons of releases that are brutal as hell without being aggressively misogynistic.
I’ve never seen them but I really like that band so I’d go. However their latest album bored me. But the two before that were great imo
Big release day. Have four albums downloaded for streaming - Borknagar, JFAC, Darkest Hour, and a band called Keres that I read is similar to Hath, which piqued my interest
this is so good it almost makes up for them scheduling the show during the middle of Thanksgiving break
just discovered Maul, utterly sick death metal from Fargo, ND. currently touring with Gravesend, which should give you an idea of how they sound.
Maul is really good. Definitely check them out live if you get a chance. i saw them a couple of years ago at a DIY spot in birmingham and they killed it
I slept on the last Abbath album (2022’s Dread Reaver) but it’s a ripper. was checking it out after he announced a tour and it’s galloping thrashy black metally stuff.
A guy that worked in advertising once told me "If a band's logo is unreadable, it's useless ". But every time I bring that valid point up, I get trashed for not being 'metal'
Btbam is doing a cool thing this spring. 2 nights in each city, Colors the first night and Colors 2 the second.
this is the logo for my solo project lol. i specifically asked for it to be hard to read it contrasts well with my former band’s very readable logo
that’s crazy!! i did vocals on it. unfortunately i don’t think a follow up will happen. our drummer died in the middle of writing and recording and that was basically the end of the band. it’s why the album is split into two parts and each sounds a little different. the first part is the newest and actually has programmed drums. the second has his recorded drum parts and was all recorded like a year earlier.
Sad to hear about the drummer. Glad to see his musical art made it to light for people to enjoy. I could always tell the album was a compilation of recordings as the production was different across certain tracks. It gave the project a DIY style or underground feel, but the songwriting and skill was beyond a typical debut effort. Made it seem more impressive somehow. What style is the solo project? Similar?
it’s awesome to hear that. it’s always really cool to run into someone who enjoys the thing me and my friends did when we were 20/21 years old my solo thing is a bit more in the slam/grind camp. kinda started as a mortician ripoff and went from there. i’m hoping to have the demo up online by the end of the month
Anyone here listen to ...And Oceans? I recently discovered them on Spotify and have quite enjoyed their stuff.
