I’m not familiar with how all of this stuff works but I’m guessing it takes some time to process. It’s not like you can just throw the cash down on the table and then the cell is unlocked.
I’ve been a part of bailing someone out a couple of times, usually takes a couple of hours. That jail may be really backed up though idk
No one at the station is ever in a hurry to process the paperwork either (having been bailed out a time or two myself).
Jail is probably worried if they let him out he'll run off and execute a sham election somewhere. Explains why the bail was so high too!

I did my little part, but big props to GK, the rest of you guys for getting it going, and everybody else that shared it to their audiences. Stuff like this makes me love the side of humanity that is good.
The Bail Project? I mean I donate to them and they are awesome but this entire release is a bit misleading.
I’m guessing the Bail Project is actually who got him out, since the GFM holds money up. Regardless, this money is going to Hervis, so I’m not worried about the glory.
It would have been nice if there was a reference to online grassroots activism or something like that, but either way, he’s out and that’s what matters.
Yea that was my thought. This wasn't a huge fund like the Bail Project, it was a small thing that grew huge really quick. It's a great story. Turning the release into a commercial for the BP is pretty lame. But the BP is a great project so if it helps them, that's great too. Just weird reading it when knowing what really happened.
As electronic said, the GoFundMe money won’t be available to them for at least a couple of days. This is a dumb thing to get upset about.

Really hope this thread doesn’t take the inevitable turn that so many of these do. Can we all do our best to keep this as a completely feel good story: Hervis got fucked, we raised money for him, he got out, money ends up going to the right place, and we go about our merry days and give GK props for organizing this quickly. As soon as we start having expectations for what *should* happen beyond the above, it all goes to hell.
