I get Charlie preferring to be paid by Baltimore than having to pay us $10 mil for the pleasure of being on the team
Honey, the weird guy on the motorcycle is back. Yeah, he’s been staring at the house for like 20 minutes, I think he’s trying to think of a caption.
Maybe AA wants to make sure things are bad enough in 2025 that Snit will just retire at the end of his contract as opposed to having to make the decision to not re-sign him beyond 2025.
Two months ago I figured we’d replace Max with someone like Buehler or Flaherty but now we’re trying to recreate Marwin Gonzalez in the aggregate and it’s just sickening
Our young prince Wiley vs Mark RetiredoldAss BADley and the hack who writes puff pieces for her employer PULEASE
It seems pretty clear that we intend to stay under the salary cap this year to reset our years over the cap (2 years in a row over currently I believe). I'm sure someone here is far more knowledgeable than I am on the luxury tax, but I believe it's 50% on anything over the cap in the 3rd year. Looks like the cap this year is $240 million. Any idea where our current payroll falls?
I would certainly not object to that guy being our #4 or #5 pitcher on a 1 year, $14M deal or something. He's still above replacement level and I'd be ecstatic to have him and Sale as veteran leaders of the staff with Schwelly and Strider. He wouldn't need to be stressed innings/starts wise. And if he has an injury and it doesn't work it's not that big a loss. I'd prefer that deal over even a 2-3 year deal with Flaherty or even trading for Montgomery.
I do have faith that AA will find 1-2 guys in the still pretty wide open relief pitcher market that by June people will be like "WTF how did they get that guy for 1 year, $2.4M". Adding one more LHP to Lee/Bummer would be nice since we know Snit hates Bummer. Minter/Scott at the top but then other guys are still out there for what I imagine will be reasonable short term deals - Coulombe, Ferguson, Beeks, Chafin, Poche, Alexander, Mayza. And then a ton of back end RHPs - Yates, Floro, Junis, Gott, Leclerc.
thank you mods for making sure i get an autotag every time ace is mentioned or has a picture of him posted
Just use the dodger method and defer a billion dollars worth of payroll a decade down the line. We will probably all be dead by the time the bill arrives anyways.
Another live report from your Cumberland area Mexican-ish restaurant Braves correspondent, SOG After eating lunch at the bar of Superica in the Battery next to Terry McGuirk and Derek Schiller I can confirm absolutely nothing other than the fact that two men worth over $40M together do still ask about and make decisions on meals based on whether they are lunch specials or not. Back to you, Bob.
It was the closest I've ever been to trying to nudge my way into a joking comment about something serious with the actual people involved, but I'm a big pussy. I will say, if there is ever a reason to riot against the Braves front office, all you have to do is go to the Battery for like 3 straight days between 1130-1 pm. You are going to see everybody in management other than AA. They live in Superica/Fox Bros at lunch.
