It’s what we struggle with tbh. The place we looked at was about 25 minutes from where we are now. Just kind of in a funky place but my wife wants more land and to not be in such a neighborhood. It was great for lil man but with him leaving in a year it’s kind of run its course for us.
I just read that and it made no sense. We are in a kind of funky place because we will eventually want to live where our son settles down. The house we looked at was beautiful, two acres on a golf course, etc.
I have a 5 acre lot that I won't building on until June/July 2025. A little sloped, but all grass. Trying to find someone to mow the lawn once/month until I start building so it doesn't grow out of control. I was just quoted at $750 for each visit. Is that normal? That seems incredibly high. I'll buy a damn riding mower and do it myself at that price.
Might I recommend planting ground cover where the grass is? Then you wouldn't need to do anything. Let nature work for you imo
I don't know what that is. Educate me, por favor I have a lot of plans in terms of berry bushes, gardens, etc., but that won't be until next Spring
This was one of those "test if the power is on by throwing a toaster in the bath" recommendations. My real answer is that a riding mower sounds fun
Insurance paying for hvac repair with check for $6,047. Invoice for work was $6,600. Kind of tempted to go back and ask for more but surprised they got it that close.
I don’t know what your long term plans are but goats seem like something I’d recommend to someone but never do myself.
Maybe down the line, but not for a few years. First livestock will be chickens. Want ducks and love duck eggs, but everything I've read says they're a nightmare to deal with and super messy bitches. My friend had ducks and changed to chickens after like 6 months because they kept killing themselves.
Goats solve the current problem and goats and chickens live in harmony, so adding chickens later will be simple
Yeah I figured I just had to pay for it myself and move on. A large tree branch fell on it during a storm. The unit still worked but the casing was dented and knocked loose from it and a panel/box was knocked loose from the wall. The HVAC unit was from like 2007 so it was nearing the end of it's life.
Not trying to kill your high but that claim is going to turn into an interest free loan with your next few renewal premiums
yep. i have learned the hard way that filing claims isn't always worth it and is much more punitive than it used to be. had a tornado come threw in December and a large limb from my neighbor's [dead] tree hit my house. sounded a lot worse than the actual damage. filed a claim hoping to get a new roof out of it but they would only cover patching it. the second they said they would only patch it I should have cancelled the claim. combine this with a water claim I had in an old house 3 years ago and my premium is up big time.
I just got dropped by Allstate when my policy is up in December. Reason being? My house was built in 1995 and they're not renewing any houses built before 2002. Sweet. Anyone have any insurance company suggestions for Central Florida?
It's seemingly the canned reasoning the big insurers are giving for pulling out of Florida. DeSantis has also made it harder to get the state funded insurance along with a number of other things that have sped up the crisis in Florida.
Fucking move out of Florida is my only suggestion, guessing that's because they're taking such a loss on all the hurricane related claims.
DeSantis has made it harder to get on the state insurer so now those people are largely going to a company called Slide that over charges and is shady in general. DeSantis has also passed laws that make it harder to sue insurers.
I saw a few Reddit threads a few weeks back about people who just have clover for their yards. Looked interesting, always green and he’d be in the perfect climate to pull that off. Maintenance is a breeze but not sure how hard that is to start or the cost. I am also on holiday so not looking it up off working hours. Godspeed.
Not sure where someone would post that didn’t have deer. Also, didn’t look into it extensively, just sharing a recent read of mine.
I’ve seen it too and it’s supposedly cheap. Just buy some seeds online and start throwing them around. Nature will do the rest
My wife is up in Michigan at the cottage and sent me a picture of all these cocky assholes last night.
