iirc Viggo was a last minute replacement for someone else or they couldn't decide who to cast or something. Whatever it was, I recall a behind the scenes doc saying he didn't get cast until like a day or two before filming began.
I think it was actually after filing began. Townsend sucked and wasn’t working hard at his role so Jackson canned him
Mom can we have live action Aragorn? We have Aragorn at home https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https://i.redd.it/731cchxy69ha1.jpg
First time seeing it in the theater, I was tripping and peaked right when the rohirim showed up and theoden gave his hype speech. I was ready to charge Mordor myself
Fellow LOTR aficionados, I regret to inform you that your decades of fandom are moot because Politico hadn’t been introduced to the greatest fantasy world of all time until they heard about it from JD Vance. Now if you like it, you’re a not so closeted right wing extremist
A handful of those casting choices would have worked in the 00s trilogy. Most of them are laughably bad though.
I stopped after a few episodes when it came out but did a fresh rewatch recently. It actually grew on me to where I like it now. I'm not a book guy though, so that's one big potential pitfall avoided
I'm not an extended lore book guy, but know enough where whatever they were trying to do with Galadriel and the stranger/wizard/potentially Gandalf wasn't it. Plus I just hated the pacing of the show.
I think that's my biggest complaint is squashing a few thousand years of the Silmarillion into simultaneous events. Kinda like combining the Israelites in Egypt and Israelites in Babylon parts of the Old Testament into one thing.
My take is that while not amazing, it wasn’t nearly as bad as most fanboys tried to make it out to be.
my problem with it was it just wasn't that interesting. I almost want to rewatch because of how many times I would be so bored I'd start looking at my phone or something.
If you're wearing a grey shirt while reading The Silmarillian it will be white when you are finished.
Slow pace is fine. Complete lack of progress for half the season followed by a flurry of very important events packed into an episode and a half is the problem.
I have a quiet day at work today and looking for some stuff to play in the background. any lore video series anyone would recommend on youtube? Sir Phobos
Been binging the second season of the TV show and the kid is interested in it. Think I’ll have him read the Hobbit first then watch the OG trilogy.
