I just watched the monologue and I expected way worse based on these posts. It was fine. I think if he didn't down play it so much it would have rolled right along and been better.

I would laugh hard at a Shelby Foote reference but like maybe 1% of the population would get that reference

 

Loved the premise about Greenland/Iceland fooling trump in 2025. Joke didn't land but there's definitely something there. Same with the Shelby Foote stuff. Feel like he's still work shopping that stuff.

 

Sounds like he treated the monologue at trying to work out some new material, but in front of hundreds of thousands of people.

Fwiw I think I was one of the underwhelmed guys when he started posting his stand up on here. OG hater checking in and I don’t even hate his comedy now. Shelby Foote was good stuff

I thought Shane's stand up was good. He had some funny jokes. I've only really watched one of the first ones he posted though. I think he had a special on Netflix that I gave not watched

 

I don't think his standup is that great but I think he's a great comedic actor and his skits are hilarious.
