Movie was unconventional in that Spoiler It didn't have a traditional hero(s) vs big bad boss fight at the end. It was more introspective and psychological, which i liked as a xhange of pace.
regarding the name, it's a great subversion from the original comics Spoiler The team were introduced in a Hulk (I think) series, as a group of misfit heroes brought together as a replacement for the Avengers, who were out of commission. It wasn't until the very last page of the comic that you learned they were all brought together by Baron Zemo as a team of villains. You think they're one thing, and then they'r revealed to be something else. Thunderbolts became their name but by the time the movie came out that was well known. Instead, the movie retcons the origin of the name and then changes it on the proverbial last page of the film, turning them into New Avengers. Very clever
Spoiler Strange is in the dark dimension with his girl and by the time Spidey got from Queens to Manhattan Sentey was already chill. But more importantly they can’t use a holland appearance for the thunderbolts and Cumberbach cameos are expensive. Spoiler All of the OG Avengers have signed on except Scarlett (and I bet she does). Obviously Stark won’t be there but Riri could be the tech aspect. It’s been reported Evan’s isn’t playing Cap so maybe Wonderman joins in for some muscle (Luke Cage would be cool).
Question about Mel Spoiler Did anyone catch her last name on the nameplate in that scene in front of congress? I’m assuming she’s Mel Gold aka Songbird?
Spoiler Yep! After the Onslaught saga, Onslaught had killed all of the Avengers, F4, and X-Men. Thunderbolts #1 was THE new Marvel superhero team. Then the last page it turns out it’s Zemo and the masters of evil dressed up. Then after Civil War in Dark Avengers #1 Osborne takes the Thunderbolts and rebrands them as the New Avengers. Stark then forms the Mighty Avengers to face them as the “real” hero’s.
Spoiler What type of super hero serum did you get? I don’t know, the regular, hydra. Ohhhh, Hydraaaa. Fancy.
What was the funny moment where they all kept repeating the same word? Feel like the title needs to be a Guardian or Cuntessa line.
If I heard right his plan is for DP to be a supporting character for a handful of years before making another DP themed movie. Ryan Reynolds is officially writing a 'Deadpool' and 'X-Men' crossover movie: - The film will feature three or four X-Men characters. - Deadpool will take on more of a supporting role this time. - Reynolds hasn't pitched the idea to the studio yet.— The MCU Den (@mcuden.bsky.social) 2025-05-03T21:36:48.501Z
It will probably end up with him getting a "story by" credit, with the screenplay having a "screenplay by Ryan Reynonds and ______" (as opposed to "Ryan Reynolds & _______")
I’m kind of in the same boat. I saw the reviews and went in with really high expectations. It felt pretty average to me.
Everything there was very good, and the Bucky motorcycle scene made me tingle. I appreciate the relatively smaller scale climax. But the movie needed a middle. Either add 20 minutes to the second act, or trim the first act. I'd favor the former solution but it seems like they imposed a 2 hour time limit and wouldn't let them go 2:30
