I thought it was basically a version of The Marvels with a much better third act, which some people might think is a shot but I very much enjoyed The Marvels. I don't think it reached the highest end version of that sort of movie, which is something like GotG, but that's okay. It's a 7-7.5 out of 10 movie and that's fine.
They've had some misses and played it a little safe to get it over the plate which is understandable.
Was hoping to watch again this afternoon but that’s not looking likely. Act 3 threw me for such a loop that I felt I couldn’t properly grade it. See a lot of people online saying it’s better on rewatch. I kept expecting 1 more major action sequence and felt short changed after but knowing that going in I could see a 7-7.5 grade getting bumped to an 8-8.5 on rewatch.
Ranking 1-8 would be tough. Like, T’Challa is forever #1 but Riri is a turd, how do you balance that out? Don’t think there’s much contest for no #1 duo
This is neat. I read they were trying to get theaters to change the actual name after a couple weeks but that seems impossible.
Well, my opinion doesn’t ever matter in this house so I was vetoed and we did go watch. It’s really really good on rewatch. You could hear a point drop during the final act in the theater. Lots of little funny things as well in the background of a lot of scenes.
Saw it today. Loved it. Sentry and void were handled so damn well. Some awesome fight scenes, lots of laughs. Just an all around great time. Added bonus, They nailed depression and mental illness.
The fight in the tower where the camera rotated around Sentry in that long one shot was really cool. I’m sure it was digitally stitched together but I want to see a behind the scenes on that one. The knife throwing/catching was cool as well.
Absolutely loved it. Did not know what to expect, and whatever I did expect, it wasn’t that, but man Yelena is an absolute powerhouse. Harbour and Russell are so strong. that second post credit scene holy shit
Just watched an interview and he requested that they change the name because of Top Gun. They laughed him out of the room. He asked a second time suggesting they call him Rob instead of Bob and they had to sit him down and explain comic book fandom and why it would be impossible.
The mid credit scene was the girl pooping during the game filmed by Alexi. They realized he’d have to use his American accent but David Harbor laughing at a kid with poopy pants didn’t work, especially if people didn’t watch BW and didn’t know who was filming.
She really was trained in the red room. No other way she could walk in those heels. The #Thunderbolts cast recreating the asterisk *️⃣— Culture Crave 🍿 (@culturecrave.co) 2025-05-03T16:23:08.195Z
Really liking this Jake Schreier guy. Jake Schreier tells us about the importance of filming ‘THUNDERBOLTS*’ with mostly practical sequences. “We’re trying to tell a very human story so having a human hand-made quality to the film is important.”— DiscussingFilm (@discussingfilm.net) 2025-05-04T02:03:15.663Z DID YOU KNOW? 🎬 Director Jake Schreier, who helmed Marvel Studios’ #Thunderbolts*, also directed the fifth episode of ‘Star Wars: #SkeletonCrew’, “You Have a Lot to Learn About Pirates”.— The Star Wars Underworld (@theswu.bsky.social) 2025-05-04T20:20:11.585Z
Correct me if I’m wrong but Bucky is the only character to appear in every single MCU phase. If DP is marvel Jesus than Bucky is marvel Yahweh.
God damnit Kevin. He was behind the end credits showing the “new avengers” in all the bad headlines. Feige knew no one wanted these losers being called “avengerz” so they put in all those mocking headlines to build sympathy till the final New Avengers reveal.
Gave me Arnold in Terminator 2 during the semi chase vibes. Especially with the way Bucky flipped the gun to load a round.
Freakin amateur hour prediction. The comic was Dark Avengers but they called themselves the New Avengers.
Question about the post credit scene Spoiler Why are people acting like it’s some big reveal or a shock? We all knew this was happening. Had F4 not been announced, I’d get it.
I think it's more people being excited that they're actually tying these post credit scenes in to upcoming projects again. Feels like a lot of the post credit scenes since End Game never have a payoff (Looking at you, Eternals).
I had the same reaction. I get the importance that they're coming to this world, but after all the hype I read about the post credit scene I thought I missed something when I saw it in the theater.
When it started I figured a tv show or newspaper would have Cap’s team revealed with a crazy line up. In my head it’s Doom, Sue and the kids in the rocket.
After the chicken fight when they were running down the stairs, Russell didn’t duck enough and cracked his head open so he had to finish the movie with staples in his scalp. He also was the baby in Overboard which makes complete sense but still made me smile.
Did Marvel just make a movie where the villian was clinical depression?!?!?! what the hell guys I go to the movies to get away from that
Schreier said he personally made the A24 trailer as an inside joke. He showered it to Feige for a laugh and he loved it and immediately sent it to the marketing team to turn into a real trailer.
It’s pretty cool that Kevin obviously agrees with our “Monday after release = spoiler time” policy. Sebastian Stan replacing Bucky’s posters with the film’s new title ‘THE NEW AVENGERS’. 🎥— Film Crave (@filmcrave.bsky.social) 2025-05-05T19:33:17.337Z
Oh. I liked in Bob’s room his dad kept calling him Bobby just like Walker was. Then after that Walker called him just Bob for the first time.
I watched Black Widow and Falcon and the Winter Soldier but seeing Thunderbolts with a friend who has not seen them, is it necessary to have seen them to enjoy the movie or do they give the background of the characters?
