The average weight of European soccer players is 170 lbs (smaller than most slot receivers). The # of soccer players per team, just absolutely pales in comparison, as well. They also play a sport that is completely adverse to intentional contact. Their capacity to be dangerous to one another is pretty small. With that said, The Big House is a cool ass stadium/environment. I severely doubt that the history of the stadium would be completely altered, if some changes to this aspect of it were made.
Master disciplinarian Mike Locksley didn’t have any players inciting violence at halftime of the Maryland game. I think Kevin Warren should make Mel, James and Ryan sit down with Mike so those guys could learn a thing or two.
I root for the course at Augusta. Bush was upset with pin placement and threw a tantrum because he has no short game.
I know you guys all hate each others teams but as someone completely neutral this is pathetic. They got their asses kicked then decided to all beat the shit out of individual players from the other team. That absolutely deserves several players to get kicked off the team/suspended and Tucker to catch heat. Has the board progressed everywhere but saying that assault is ok? This thread is confusing
Certain posters are deflecting to blame the physical setting. To be clear, the tunnel is not the problem. The behavior is the problem.
Anyone who swung a helmet should be kicked out of the university. Anyone involved needs a multiple game suspension. Tucker should face some kind of consequences as well, fine or whatever. As the lame duck president's said, despite any provocation the retaliation was not justified.
The way his teammates are pulling him away it seems like 14 was the helmet guy. And is that Tuck punching the locker room door at 1:27?
Helmet guy was a lot bigger than 14, someone else said it was 9, it was almost certainly a single digit, my guess is Daniel Barker. 14 could have been the dude holding the UM player
Nah man. It’s better for Harbaugh to look like the tough guy next week in the presser and then do absolutely nothing about this so it can happen again next year.
That’s basically what ND did and it’s awesome. Built the smallest possible tunnel to make the other team walk through. And then Purdue cried bc they had to leave their toy drum in the parking lot
Yeah, it’s Michigan that’s obsessed with “looking tough” and not the team led by the guy punching locker room doors after his players gang jumped 2 opposing players because they felt bad about losing. Good call.
Well, an issue was pointed out, Harbaugh just said it was whining and blamed the other guys. All of this can be true, while at the same time maybe saying “hey yeah, we should look into this since it’s becoming a pattern in highly charged emotional games” But he just brushed it off with the tough guy maneuver and sure enough, 2 weeks later it escalates. I’m sure in every instance, it could have been the away team that was the aggressor….I highly doubt Michigan is 100% innocent in any of them, but even if they were… just ignoring it and acting like you don’t need to change anything because you don’t believe your guys were in the wrong is just dumb tough guy football brain stuff, and that is pretty clear now 2 weeks later.
It’s not “tough guy” stuff to say “the guys starting fights because they’re losing should stop doing that.” It’s the opposite. It was PSU playing “tough guy” when they threw sandwiches at Michigan players instead of just going into the locker room it was MSU playing tough guy when they decided to jump 2 opposing players. If “acting tough” is your problem diagnosis, you’re focusing on the wrong teams as the cause.
If Michigan was supposed to wait to enter the tunnel at halftime until cleared by visitors, why was the bulk of the Michigan team in the tunnel at the same time taunting and instigating Penn State players?
I just said, even if Michigan is 100% innocent it’s just dumb to take no steps to stop it from occurring other than just saying “well the other teams should just stop doing this”. That much is clear in hindsight. I’m sure the conference will mandate changes are made now. This may be one of the biggest wins of James Franklin’s career.
I don't know why Michigan fans are fighting this so much. all most any sane person is saying is right now (read: RIGHT NOW) it is clear extra precautions need to be taken. it's literally a matter of getting a few more security and cops together and keeping teams in their lockers until time to come out. like, no shit if those other teams didn't behave that way it wouldn't be an issue but you literally just saw two of your players being assaulted and some of you are apparently highly averse to changing policies to prevent future UM players from potentially being assaulted, it's goddamn bizarre. nobody is saying those teams shouldn't rein in their players better, it literally goes without saying, stop offering that up as the only solution to this problem, you weirdos. hey guys, guess what? we wouldn't need prisons if people quit committing crimes! put that in your pipe and smoke it, fans of criminals!
No I'm talking about Artoo 's insistence that Ukraine be required to cede their territory due to they being the ones that started the "military operation" in Ukraine
Harbaugh looks like an idiot for the way he handled the issue publicly a couple weeks back but he did garner a lot more support from the Michigan men and that matters more than his own players safety.
Maybe Michigan players shouldnt talk so much shit when they are headed in the same direction as their opponents Like someone else said this isn’t a first for Michigan
This incident seems to have rallied PSU fans behind James Franklin, so I'm glad one good thing came from it.
Between this and laughing at OSU for only scoring 45, it’s been a strange weekend for some of them. The Notre Dame fans showing their asses is even more strange
You realize we are all self aware we suck and will suck for quite awhile, right? And it was less laughing at the point total, more so how bad the playcalling was.
Most or all of the few tunnel altercations have occurred at halftime. After the halftime problem a couple weeks ago the they made a concerted effort to keep Michigan on the field at halftime until State cleared the tunnel. They did do something different and it worked at halftime. Nobody expects that a couple injured guys walking up the tunnel after the game need to fear for their safety from the other team, but I'm sure they'll add more security next game. They dont need to build another tunnel because some football players decided to behave like criminals. The most childlike Penn State fans being little little babies about Harbaugh calling their whiner coach a whiner is funny, but it really doesn't have anything to do with this situation.
Ohio State has had repeated problems with Michigan security. 2013 and 2021 players were in the tunnel at the same time, and had to be separated. Nothing like MSU, but completely unnecessary and avoidable. In 2017, Michigan credentialed a cameraman and allowed access to our bench. He swung his equipment into JT Barrett’s knee. Barrett later left the game with an injury to that knee, and Haskins came off the bench to close the game. Whatever Michigan is doing, they need to do better.
Really, how fucking stupid are you? If the tunnel isn't cleared, it's because you didn't clear it. You stayed in the open tunnel and jammed it up as the following team made their way up the tunnel, so you could posture about how you were still in the game. Turned out you weren't.
That tunnel is fucking dumb and needs to be fixed. We get it. But a few fights between groups of players that are broken up immediately are quite a bit different than one player getting his ass kicked by a large group of players HTH
lol at the camera man bit That's like UM fans who believe the conspiracy theory that the B1G let OSU fans ref the 2016 game and intentionally screwed us over.
I missed this buy this is pretty funny. I did in fact play sports. Sure I got in a few harmless shoving matches a few times I didn’t however get my ass kicked by the opposing team or jump someone from the opposing team not sure what fucked up sports you were playing
