Got to try the C923 at Evan Williams. Damn that was good. Keef if you see one for a decent price I definitely want one.
Almost 7 year Smoke Wagon Private Barrels on sale just now. No idea if good or not. https://nevadadistilling.store/collections/shop from Keef "this is the new malted rye MGP mashbill from 2016. Previous SW was the 4% malted barley and 36% rye "This new recipe that I talked about earlier would ditch malted barley entirely for malted rye. The mash bill they came up with used 51% corn, 39% un-malted rye and 10% malted rye. Smoke Wagon is scheduled to use this bourbon in a new 2024 release where they label it as 51% corn, 49% rye, but it’s the same thing."
$125 for KoK and $65 for William Heaven Hill. My chances of ever trying either under any other scenario are nil so fuck it.
Both are incredible. KoK is so good it makes me angry. It's everything I want a bourbon to be. I wish it was more accessible. William Heaven Hill is like a really refined Elijah Craig. Might have to see what it's going for on second.
More deliveries...4x Michter's Toasted rye (2 from pperc) and 2x more Old Stubborn to have for down the road. (That water trick worked! Tulips are still alive.)
Was really hoping Michters would have something like this or either 10 year today but they had Bombergers instead.
That is one I like to have multiple bottles of, because it is such a solid every day pour (price aside).
They bundle it with a couple of bottles I didn't really want. If it had just been the Bombergers I probably would have snagged it. I did get the bottle your own barrel proof one.
ah shit. now what to do with my unopened 2020 KoK. I got it from a hotel bar in Kentucky during Covid when they were liquidating their liquor to keep their employees afloat.
Damn, jealous of that. I wouldn't say I have the most advanced palate so you guys might be less impressed with it. But I've had quite a few sought after bottles. All of the BTAC and Pappy and all that and I would personally take it over those. But I'm also a big fan of the Old Forester flavor profile. Also, supposedly the 1924 is younger proofed down KoK.
I got a sample of it at the distillery and really enjoyed it. I guess it's really the only barrel proof example of Michters? Bombergers is pretty close I suppose but not sure what's different about it.
the special releases like barrel strength rye, toasted bourbon and rye, etc. are all at barrel proof.
Ahh true. I just never see Michters in my area so I'm not too familiar with them. I've heard the Toasted Rye is delicious. Would like to track one of them down.
No wouldn’t surprise me if they held it for the quarterly, even tho I think it should be on next months allocation.
Any of you guys know of a good secondary group that is national? Seems like most everyone uses regional ones and the Oklahoma one is dead due to us not getting much of anything.
Forgot to mention when I was in the Bardstown tasting room I got meet their CEO and chat with him for a bit. That was pretty cool. They had a tasting room only 4 grain that was really good. Unfortunately they had recently ran out of bottles to go but at least I still got to try it. Discovery 11 was really tasty too.
I was gifted their black labeled BiB offering this past weekend. First time tasting anything from them and I enjoyed it. They fall into a fairly sus pricing category for me. Probably why I’ve avoided them for so long.
Sorry for those of you who snatched up the charazard rookie cards in 2022. https://markets.businessinsider.com...s-federal-reserve-stock-market-outlook-2024-1
Same. I haven't tried much of their stuff because of the price and a lot of their stuff is sourced from Canada and Dickel. I refuse to pay that much for Dickel. I believe the four grain I tried was their own distillate. I think that's what the guy told me. The Discovery 11 was all Kentucky as well.
check the side of the bottles, when theres no dickel is some of the best you can buy and they're starting to use their own distillate now all their bib stuff is their own stuff now
