Anison made me take a crotch shot for his haul $250 for the Handy. $400 for the ER17. Weren’t even looking in a random Truckee adjacent grocery store.
For the record we co- purchased a MWND for the week. Not the best price ($160) but a fav. No crotch shot.
I’ve actually heard it’s very good, I just would rather grab one at like $130 than the normal 175-200 I’ve been seeing it around here
Fry’s (Kroger) had an event this week for a store opening. To get any of the BTAC’s (I saw GTS, Handy, and something else I can’t remember) you had to buy a $685 bundle with a Whistle Pig 18 store pick.
This is the point that I make about opportunity cost. My time and comfort is worth way too fucking much to sit in the freezing cold overnight, away from my wife, dogs, bed, and bathroom. If that misery is worth a few hundred bucks to people... then have at it, friends.
Just opened a bottle of OF 1924. I remember this getting lukewarm reviews, I like it. Good oak, drinks like a 100 proof, some bright citrus notes. But not for $100... that's the rub.
That’s what I heard. Price point hurts it. Anytime I’ve seen it at a bar the pour has always been $40+ so I turn it down.
Anyone had the Sagamore 9 year rye? I've been trying to find it in KC as I really liked the 8 year and their other products (Port finish esp) and can't find it. I know it came out last year but thought it was going to be a semi-frequent release
anyone grab the four roses single barrels recently released? i walked right by them in the grocery store in louisana last week and didn't even look/think twice. definitely regretting that
good to know. checked the local total wine and they're sold out there, so i had some fomo. i'll have to do some looking
If anyone wants to grab what could be really good River Roots picks...These links and passwords were briefly posted online and they had to be temporarily taken down (but will be reposted later). They are still available and fully legal to use these passwords. Quad oaked should be amazing but all the DO's have been great. passwords are stacksonstacks and frosted (not sure what order) NEW PRODUCT: River Roots Single Barrel Exclusive: Double Stack Perfection Price: $185.00 Product Link: https://shop.riverrootsbarrelco.com...ngle-barrel-exclusive-double-stack-perfection NEW PRODUCT: River Roots Single Barrel Exclusive: Sweet Dreams Are Made of Cake Price: $185.00 Product Link: https://shop.riverrootsbarrelco.com...arrel-exclusive-sweet-dreams-are-made-of-cake
is the 10 yr pappy van winkle worth spending hundreds of dollars for? i've never had any of the aged pappys but have an opportunity to buy the 10 yr at a marked up price
If you’ve never had it and need a special bottle, sure but ymmv and see dealer for details (really depends on what $500 means to your finances.)
There’s plenty of bottles at or below that price point that I’d prefer. Parker’s comes to mind, five ECBP comes to mind, RR13 or RR15 probably? I really haven’t kept up with the secondary lately. I honestly haven’t bought shit in six months. (Saving for our barrels.)
yeah, sort of buying it as a trophy of sorts for some personal achievements where can i get it for $500? my purchase was more than that. :/
I like ORVW (Pappy 10) more than Lot B (12). Probably because the proof point is 107. It’s a good pour for sure, you are definitely paying for the name though.
