My only real reaction to this is it seems like it took a lot longer than it should for everyone to come to that conclusion.
Imagine taking that photo knowing 24 hours prior you were one foot out the door. Like one of those "100% COMMITTED" graphics when a guy is publicly taking visits
I think that probably shows Freeman’s show of preference for him as a candidate, which kinda stinks. You don’t wait on a guy if you think there’s no material difference between him and the next two names on the list.
Tuck is the new age Alan Page in that he sets the standard for what an ND football player can become in the long term. Dude is an absolute force, and also an awesome person
Yeah I buy that he's very good at whatever it is he does, and if the sticking point was relocating his family and/or money then I get it, but people are saying he kept asking for more and more roster control (apparently he has full authority at TT which seems wild) - that should have been a non-starter from day 1 (for both sides). But whatever, on to the next guy I've never heard of to fill a job that I don't really even know what they do.
To play devil's advocate, it sounded like he was ready to cut off a limb for the Utah OC whose name I don't even remember anymore then panic promoted Parker ... and 12 months later he was out of his job at Utah and we had Denbrock Maybe it speaks more to Freeman locking in on a candidate too quickly, but I'm not going to act like Blanchard is some football god
Giving up roster control can actually be a major benefit for retaining assistant coaches, especially if it shields them from some recruiting and NIL efforts. There’s a reason you’re seeing a mass exodus to the NFL right now. So I’d imagine wherever we go from here, it will likely mean some level of the roster control pendulum moving away from the coaches and more toward the “front office”. How much is the question. With Blanchard, it was going to be a massive shift.
some others on the 4HL phrased it the way D3 did as well, so he's back working out w/ the team, but not fully back yet
These past 5 minutes have been the first 5 minutes I've watched of the men's BB team. Oof they're kinda hard to watch
The transfers they brought in are useless. Shrews better pull it together next year. Seems his approach avoiding of mostly portal was a mistake.
Shrews misuse of the portal has been troubling, they just constantly whiffed last offseason and ended up with bench MAC players coming in
The players they brought in can’t even play in the MAC None of the transfers made sense at the time and they look even worse now. Shrews has to figure it out quickly
Burton is a hero if he stays through this and absolutely can't blame him if he transfers to a top 20 team next year I don't see him on mock drafts at all
There’s a ND Pom mother/daughter thing going at the bar I’m at. That’s getting weirdly close to my search history.
So we lose the best RB coach in the country and replace him with the other best RB in the country I’ll take it
The funny thing is Penn State fans worried he will poach Singleton or Allen....we don't need them but thanks
lol psu mods saying his wife didn’t fit in with the coaches wives so she told him he had to find a new job
It’s so funny how every one of these on both sides goes. - “something other than football caused him to leave” “my sense is [leaver team] may end up in a better place” no matter where you are that is the playbook.
I know nothing about this guy but I am here for the Franklin lateral move meltdown like Kelly had when Alford left.
The flight tracker posters seem to think we are working on Oregons GM too Freeman setting up quite the Super Bowl Sunday for himself.
