Yeah, doing the same. "Punishment" is taking away things he likes. 3 is pretty brutal but honesty it's better than 0, 1, and 2.
Anyone have any good tablet games for a 3/4 year old? Downloaded something called Lucas and Friends and my kid loves it. Matches shapes/objects. Does opposites, sounds to letters. More vs Less. Counting Numbers to the actual number, etc. It claims it's educational and seems to be pretty solid. Wondering if anyone has anything else their kids like
In this case, I would grab the toothbrush and a book. Start reading and brush his teeth while you read. Aversion to the thing he doesn’t like will go away when he is getting something he likes. If you can’t get them brushed, stop reading until he lets you. We started by trying to take away things he likes, like reading books, but found the usefulness was short lived and eventually we were taking away something we wanted him to do.
Traveling until Sunday with just my wife. The guilt has really kicked in. My son is staying with my parents who are amazing and he is great with them. Just not excited about being away that long.
Also on kids fire. Thanks will look for those. There are quite a few variations of use your finger to drag a monster truck across a platformer type map that he digs. And he's been absolute dogshit at Fruit Ninja for a couple years now but loves it anyway Speaking of monster trucks. Went to a monster truck rally last weekend. If your little ones like monster trucks, I highly recommend in spite of whatever voice in the back of your head is telling you it'd suck. Surprisingly fun, and it was probably the best day of his life so far
Don't feel guilty for a second dude. My parents weren't any help unfortunately (a big reason why we moved) abd subsequently we haven't spent a night away from my daughter, always one of us has been with her and she's almost 7.
I've contemplated going to the Atlanta Monster Truck Show. I know my son will love it. He's got a lot of first coming up this year. First Live Action Show (Jurassic Park), First Football game (Auburn Spring game), first Hockey Game.....might have to add monster truck rally
I don't even remember how old little man was when we went to one, but he loved it Had to be 5 or 6 He's 10 now and would still love it
I am moving heaven and earth to be kids free for 3 days during spring break. driving the big kids 2 hours up north to be with my dad and his wife. then meeting my mom and her partner in Atlanta to drop off the baby. It will be our first time kidless in over 2 years and the first time kidless at home in over 3 years. Highly recommend staying home when you're kidless. we love going out and having a mini vacation just us two but the best experience is sleeping in your own bed til whenever you want and going out to lunch with your wife with nobody else there. it's glorious. i'm sure we will miss them...
Got a hotel and doing drink around the world in a few weeks (i don’t drink any more so it will probably be take gummies and destroy flower and garden food), will be the first time my parents watch both kids. You two have got to have time to yourselves and together. It’s hard not to feel guilty but honestly you shouldn’t.
I wanted to do the Hot Wheels Light Show a few weeks ago, but I just don't think I'd like monster trucks in an arena. I've heard it has to be at a football stadium or speedway to fully enjoy. We've got a 5 yr old and almost 3 year old twins, and I think they'll all love this monster truck event, especially the extra thing before where you can get up close experience with the trucks. That would be a long day though. I might just see if I can get away taking 5 yr old and leaving twins and wife at home.
Monster truck shows and PBR events were staples for us when lil man was younger. Summer demo derby’s were always fun and easy too
The one we went to was arena, full walk up to the trucks and meet the drivers experience too He loved it But I have probably hesitated taking him to another because I want to go full big stadium or speedway too. Probably didn't make any difference to him since it's the only time he's seen them in real life though.
Pre pit hangout was definitely worth it. Hilarious watching him interact with the drivers about their BKT tires, asking them why their tread was so worn, and rifling through all the various names of stunts (kid knows them all), and requesting they crash. Ours was outdoors at a fair park. Seemed like an old football stadium. Indoors would be rough I’d think strictly due to noise level. My watch was warning me about hearing damage the whole time, and I hurt near the end. Wife and kid had cans and were mostly okay
Ooo, there's a monster truck wars event coming up at a fair park a couple counties over in late April
Two youngest woke up at 4am but fell asleep shortly after being put back to bed. Sadly for me I’ve just been awake since then.
holy shit. Im pretty sure I would also be under investigation for burning the daycare down with them inside
Holy shit. What an absolute nightmare. How long has the state been sitting on this while you've been sending him there?
I don’t know what to say besides I’m so very sorry your son had to experience that and that your feelings are totally justified. I don’t even know where to start.
I'd get a lawyer immediately. I'd be really curious what the state's obligations are wrt notifying you - if they've know about this for a long time and withheld it, I'd feel like they also endangered my child by letting me continue to send him in
So sorry you're going through that. Heartbreaking for you and your son. Also have to wonder if this happened to any other kids. Ugh.
