I think it depends. Lakeland is pretty backwards compared to Tampa/Orlando. How old are you? Plan on going out a lot? If not, you should be ok. It's just country as fuck.
I've never been to Winter Haven, but I imagine it's more rural than Lakeland. Lakeland at least has a "downtown" with some restaurants/bars and then a bunch of shopping centers and chain restaurants by the interstate. That's... about it.
29/married/baby on the way. A buddy lives in Tampa and we'd love to live there but the drive is just too far. Hoping living near Tampa will open up some employment options for my wife... I mean, she's a pregnant lawyer, if companies don't hire her maybe she can sue for discrimination. I guess I already answered the going out part
Not too close but off Dale Mabry you have Perdigon el Sabor which is just incredible in this shitty little strip. You can head up to Trinity and Zim Zari and Craft Street are pretty good.

Any of yall have a good place to get your hair cut? I kinda have longer hair and everyone here so far wants to give me a Macklemore haircut. No thanks
There's a good Aveda salon in Hyde Park village that my wife goes to. I'm assuming that's the kind of place you're looking for?
I don't see how I would get it in South Tampa. Infrastructure is so fucked here. I think I mentioned it earlier in this thread, but has anyone been to a Burger Monger? Went a few weeks ago and enjoyed it. Tasty burgers. Guess there's a handful of locations in the bay area. Locally owned and operated.
User Hank Scorpio and I once were in the same barber shop together but he refused to acknowledge my presence.
It rained for a second while on 275 so I guess it was necessary for everyone to slam on their breaks.
Grew up in Westchase. If it was up to me we would live there but my wife doesn't want to make commute.
No, it really isn't. South Tampa has all the conveniences and is close to everything as long as finances aren't an issue. Westchase does win 2nd prize though.
Dollar for dollar, Westchase wins. My 5 bedroom house would be a fucking million dollars in south Tampa. I'll take our almost as good schools, drive a little bit further to some stuff, and walk to our awesome restaurants.
Need some help if possible for guys with kids. Do any of you know of a photographer for maternity photos? My wife waited until the last minute and is now panicking she wont have any professional photos since our son is due in January.
Former Lightning girl, had three kids but from her photos she still looks pretty good. https://instagram.com/sassyshana/
I fly to Tampa Tuesday for an interview at our place in Dover. My lady friend is looking at moving to Ybor city, but I am not fucking paying that type of rent. Currently paying 1100 a month for 700sq ft and 1 br in Denver. What are some places I can look? I dont mind living in the country as long as I dont live near crack houses.
Seriously though, you could probably rent a.3 bedroom house in Dover for what you're paying in Denver. The place to live, however, is South Tampa. You kinda have to luck into a good deal though.
She likes that little downtown area with bar taco etc. Maybe I am completely wrong on the area as she usually drives when I'm there (shes lived there for 2 years around Brandon).
