what a commitment to the socials to keep a diamond hand on the phone vid as one’s roof tears off (viewing from the relative safety of a wheelchair ramp up to the front porch?)
one of the neighborhoods being rebuilt from spring's LR tornado was hit by a microburst/severe Tstorm this afternoon. I'll try and get one of the photos of a framed out 2nd floor now on the ground Drove around today, was surprised at how large the area impacted was. Micro made me think of a much smaller impact zone.
Hit the gfs office, she was having PTSD. One of the AC units got ripped of the roof and water was dripping down on the desk next to hers. Trees down. Lots of power out.
When I went to the slaw game two weeks ago there were still trees down at that bank where the people were videoing from inside and almost got sucked out, along with other visible lingering damage and rebuilds/construction in that area. I’m sure a lot of it has to do with insurance dragging their feet on some claims or just the manpower to be able to get to some of that stuff, but always wild to me how long some of that damage just sits there.
Insurance is a huge issue. The big building most everyone has seen are over 1mm apart but owner couldn't wait and is fighting during rebuild. 70 year old lady hasn't seen a dime in 5 months and just last week moved out of hotel and into retirement home. She's been send in receipts and nadda. Many of the homes in Walnut Valley are being bought as is and will become rentals. Many of those residents were under insured and can't afford to rebuild to replace due to higher costs than when they bought. We've updated our home insurance after learning and seeing what is happening
Trying to get ahold of the wife who has the other 2 kids and see if they can immediately start their 30 mile drive home or go crash my brother's apartment and wait it out
My Mom lives about 10 miles North and is headed to the basement. Clouds shifted, multiple "tails" hanging down from them.
Horrible view from here and I'm not exploring with the 5 year old but can confirm. Lots of lowering that way. Whew. Should just be a hail/wind event for the next hour so.
