If anyone gets bored, its kind of cool to see some of the old hardware we have sitting out in Arizona. https://earth.google.com/web/@32.17...QzYH3LEtlvAKhFBaXJwbGFuZSBCb25leWFyZBgCIAEoAg "More than 4,000 military aircraft are parked on the base, from B-52s to stealth bombers, where they are salvaged for parts and broken down for scrap. It's one of the most popular satellite pictures online, making guided tours of the area a hot ticket." There is a bunch of F15s, F16s, and F18s out there. Funny enough I don't see many of the F117 Stealth fighters we "retired" a few decades ago... (they aren't retired but are now used as targets for mock drills defending against stealth attacks).
My understanding is for two main reasons: #1: Just incase. #2: For parts. For various reasons they stop making certain types of units after a while...including replacement parts. They use the stored units as farms for parts.
here is one of the army ones- a lot of the stuff is underground. Go here and check out north- rows and rows of stuff and countless fortified storage: https://maps.app.goo.gl/rVcrp28oEEVaupwx5
another army one- hawthorne army depot just rows and rows of underground storage (this one is ammo storage) https://maps.app.goo.gl/3q7orXbHSKjfK2yFA
Usually its spare parts, but in the cases of some equipment, we leave it out in the desert so that other countries can see we have put it out there. We signed an agreement at one point to get rid of our F14s, so we severed the backbone of the aircraft and left it in the desert for Russia to take satellite pics of to verify they were not flyable any more.
Re: Israel/Iran - confirmed details are scarce but it seems hezbollah was about to send a pretty massive rocket/missile barrage at Israel overnight. Israeli Air Force did an equally massive preemptive strike and took out pretty much everything before it launched. Again confirmed details are scarce but this seems like a significant development.
Lots of speculation that durov was defecting to the West. Russian officials at all levels told to scrub messages from telegram and not to use it.
Trying to find out more about this telegram guy and my feed is all right wingers and free speech chuds crying about how unfair this is.
Does that mean that Moscow is now free to hit? Does the US give them missiles? If we provide Ukraine with missiles and they "modify" them, does it then become a Ukrainian missile? I'm assuming that would count as a US missile. Poland may have an excuse to get involved now.
This is an interesting thread from someone who fought for Russia. https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1827998149987778873.html?utm_campaign=topunroll Here's a clip:
Ukraine finally admitted recently that they only shoot down like 18% of Russian missiles Their infrastructure is fucked up
I blame Israel for not letting us get the Iron Dome to Ukraine. And the GOP for holding up funding for so damn long.
Isn't that area to UKR heavily mined? I thought I read it has miles of mines and it would take forever to get through it.
It is. Belarus would take enormous losses if they tried to come across. I think it is more to make Ukraine keep some manpower in that direction just in case.
Lukashenko said last week or so he was sending them because Ukraine invaded Russia and was concerned they would enter Belarus. Most likely just posturing for Putin.
I may be wrong, but I believe it’s 14% of missiles, 82% of the total incoming projectiles (drones mostly).
Visegrad is a shit source, speaking as someone who's a big UKR fan. I don't think they're wrong on what you posted, but generally not great.
