I wish Publix had curbside service for subs. There's a Jersey Mikes in the parking lot of our Publix and it's just quicker/easier to get in and out of than Publix bc Publix is always so busy so we use it more.
used to live in high rise with a publix as one of the anchor tenants, there was a designated Publix button on the residential elevator and I used to ask them hungover if they would meet me at the elevator lobby. Lol no chance. Think the workers are just as annoyed with ppl standing in line asking them to toss their tenders.
I had someone try to steal my sub that was pre-paid. Dude literally looked through all the subs there and found one with the green sticker right in front of me. Tried to give him an out and said "hey, you accidetnally grabbed my sub, do you mind giving it back?" He got all pissed off, started yelling at me, and asked if I wanted to fight. Said nope, grabbed my sub out of his cart, got my chips and walked out. All he had to do was say sorry, hand me my sub and nobody would have noticed a thing. Instead he made it obvious he got caught trying to steal food from publix. so yea, that was the last time I pre-paid.
They've startes keeping the pre-pay subs behind the counter at both of my local publixes. Pain in the ass when they are busy. Kind of defeats the purpose of pre-ordering but I guess they get stolen pretty often.
Ordered when I left office. Got there 5 minutes early, grabbed a few things, got to deli right on time. Waited 20 minutes smh. Hot honey sandwich is good though.
Yea my local Publix does the same now. I rarely just go in to Publix for just a sub. I’m always grabbing stuff for the house so it really changes nothing for me. When this happens to me I just get in line and tell them I have an online order. They make it on the spot and I go on my way.
Miami area sub aficionados - I’m staying near MIA on the south side of the airport for an evening next week. I see a couple Publix within 2-3 miles. Any suggestions on the most superior Publix in that general area? I haven’t Publix’d in about 5 years and my body is ready.
I thought the hot honey was too much like sesame chicken, it was not bad but prefer the buffalo/ranch a lot more
I got just the meal with fingers and sides, I thought it tasted good but smelled weird which bugged me.
Posted in another thread but if they paired the hot honey with kimchi, it would work better. Tomatoes and lettuce don't pair well with it
If that is where you are staying, you don't want publix. You want this place. https://www.yelp.com/biz/a-little-bit-of-philly-miami-springs
Just hit up Publix for a sub. First one since I moved out of Florida in 2012. I didn't have time browse this thread in line so I defaulted to the buffalo-style.
eating an entire sub / hoagie roll, cheese, toppings, sauce, and 5 chicken tenders for lunch is fucking hilarious. edit: not saying you ate the whole thing at once, but I assume many people do.
Glad this got bumped. Wife leaves tomorrow for the weekend so I'll probably be hitting up Publix on my way home a couple times for an easy dinner.
https://www.timesfreepress.com/news/2024/mar/12/chicken-tender-sub-at-publix-deserves-the-hype/ Restaurant Scene: Chicken tender sub at Publix deserves the hype There's nothing I hate more about food writing than feeling like I'm riding the "trend train." Some food writers make their living chasing down and capturing trends, but personally, I run as far away as possible, as fast as possible, from trends. I actually lost sleep at night pondering if I should include the quesabirria from Santi's Mexican Grill & Sport Bar to represent the letter "Q" for my A-Z guide of dishes to eat in Chattanooga, only because I thought the taco had become too trendy. For me, there's a significant amount of joy, satisfaction and purpose that comes with being the first to enlighten readers about foodstuff and foodways, whether it's about Haitian spaghetti or the origins of Spam Musubi. However, it seems, that cat is already out of the bag. Apparently, these chicken tender subs have been trending for at least three years, getting coverage from Business Insider, YouTubers and TikTok food influencers. According to their signage, the chicken tender sub from Publix has been "customer favorite since 1992" — 62 years after George Jenkins opened the first location in Winter Haven, Florida. Just about every grocery store has a halfway decent deli. You can get a "Danny's Favorite" on their signature sesame seed roll from Wegmans, a roast beef and cheddar cheese on a pretzel bun from Meijer or a Whole Foods riff on a B.L.T., only the bacon is actually tempeh. However, none of these grocery stores had the genius, or common sense, to put chopped-up chunks of fried chicken tenders in their subs. The more I think about it, the more I realize that was a no-brainer. Even before I was hip to the "Pub Sub" phenomena, I knew their fried chicken was critically acclaimed. Traditionally, the chicken tender sub is dressed in mayonnaise, provolone cheese, lettuce and tomato. It's so popular that Publix decided to branch out and add four other variations: bacon ranch, sweet & spicy Sriracha, Parmesan-style and Buffalo-style, plus a hot honey version for a limited time. They've even done a special chicken tender sub for NFL franchises like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which included shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes, imported cheddar cheese, spicy gold sauce and bacon. (READ MORE: Attack of the Tatsu brings Tokyo vibes to Chattanooga) As with Subway, Blimpie, Jersey's Mike's or almost every other sub-making franchise, you have the free will to customize your chicken tender sub any which way you'd like. I order my sub on white bread, chipotle gouda (which is everything I thought pepper jack was), lettuce, tomato, bacon, salt, pepper and I'm never, ever scared to ask for more mayonnaise. Yes, their $5 sushi on Wednesdays is the reason I fell in love with Publix, but these chicken tender sandwiches have bolstered my loyalty (sorry, Piggly Wiggly). Pro-tip: Even if they give you the option for grilled chicken, get the fried. Contact Andre James at [email protected] or 423-757-6327. Honestly this rips. Hot honey tenders with light fancy mayo and light ranch plus a bunch of crunchy veggies. Threw some hot sauce on here at home too. Appreciate all the help and I’m sorry to the haters out there who wished this moment wouldn’t come
It's their designed sub of the week. The tenders are hot honey $2 off this week - Chicken Tender sub Spoiler Whole, Hot Honey Tenders, Bacon, Customer Choice of Cheese, Mayo, Lettuce, Tomato, and Fried Pickles
Ordered to go for my flight. Get there — not ready! they explain they are out of hot honey tenders but made my sandwich anyway in case I want it. That’s a proactive approach and we love it
You guys must have nicer Publix than me. If I order anything outside of a normal tenders sub they can't make it. And it's hit or miss if my online order is ready to pick up on time.
