Yes just saying I didn’t learn what actual French toast was until much later in life. Steaks were also a huge shock to me when I figured out in my mid-20’s why people like them
The French toast I grew up with is definitely not what it is supposed to be. Thin ass wonder bread should never be used
Not related to burning it but we had a place out here with Spaghetti Mi Gente which I thought was great. For the whites - it was basically what Mexican households grew up with as their usual spaghetti dish. Spicy as shit with Chicken and a word play on Al Dente.
Someone in the comments said this is what we call “CauCajun” and that made me laugh. Old girl can go.
My mother would burn the fuck out of chicken all the time, on purpose. Legit black. Took awhile to bounce back from that.
Noodles were fine it was the ground beef. She’d cook it until it was rock hard so it was like a bunch of crunchy pebbles in the spaghetti sauce.
My wife grew up in a similar situation. It took me forever to convince her that red meat being pink on the inside is actually a good thing. The rest of her family still hasn't caught on though. Anytime we eat with them and they order a burger or steak, they still ask for it well done.
Yeah she still makes a scrunched up “eww” face if we’re eating steaks and they’re pink. Tbf she’s pretty much a vegetarian and only really likes seafood. She could never eat beef, chicken or pork again and never miss it. She will always order a black bean burger over a regular beef burger because she just likes them more
I mean that's probably for the best, both in terms of flavor and health. I'd probably be a pescatarian if my wife liked seafood.
obviously wouldn't describe overcooked pasta as "burnt" but it is terrible when it's cooked into mush.
This is how I prepare food for my family. You can never be too safe when it comes to the well-being of your loved ones.
Spaghetti Alla Nerano Aka The Stanley Tucci Special is my go to spaghetti dish now. Hardly ever make it with red sauce anymore. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spaghetti_alla_Nerano Sorry, not very good picture
This man is really going to teach the board a new tasty dish and link to a wiki page and not a recipe?
As mentioned by myself and others I had no idea you could order beef any other way than well done until I was in my 20’s. My mind was blown away. Always ate it well done with a ton of steak sauce.
It's not new and this isn't the food thread. https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/2...ti-stanley-tucci-loves-spaghetti-alla-nerano/
Same, still fire and Id put down 6+ pieces. My Mom also makes very unique pancakes. Very thin crepe-like, crispy edges. Probably why I’m not the biggest fan of traditional fluffy pancakes.
