yea we had a discussion in some thread a year ago or so on college towns. Think Austin was the paradigm given the university if the central focus. Seeing the Oregon mod opinion just made me think about how differently each region of america views/prefers their campus life.
I liked Blacksburg the one time I visited. It's similar to State College, except somehow even more isolated.
Makes perfect sense. I tend to think if you'd willingly visit the city without a football game going on it shouldn't count. Austin would fall into that category but would Austin be Austin without UT? Probably not.
My guess Tulane Houston ECU Ucf Usf Cincy BYu Conn Memphis Smu Colorado st Southern miss Unlv Sdsu New Mexico Boise Air Force
I mean culturally. Ut is Austin is Ut. I don't know anything about Nashville but I could see it being something similar.
There are some really good stories in here, mostly about what a bunch of pussies Nebraska is: http://www.campusrush.com/big-12-conference-oral-history-swc-merger-1974972078.html
Lol Big 10. Over the years expansion has consisted of Sanduski in prime raping years, Rutgers, Maryland, and a program whose tradition was built on the back of non-qualifiers.
IIRC the NCAA changed the Prop*48 rule so that players who graduated in 4 years could earn that forfeited year back.
Originally they had 4 years to play 3, but if they graduated in 4 they got the last season back. Former Utah PG Andre Miller benefited from this rule.
selling rutgers way short here - michigan is projected to be top 2 in the big ten and rutgers already climbed that mountain
Rutgers and Maryland both finished 1-7 in league play in 2015. We don't pretend it was anything that it's not. We added millions in TV money by consolidating the Mid-Atlantic states. Recruiting for OSU, Michigan, and Penn State has been off the charts in DC Metro and New Jersey.
Adding bluebloods led to Bo Pelini and Jerry Sandusky. So we skipped the middleman and just invited shitheads right off the bat.
Who are the favorites right now? A lot of my friends who went to UConn seem pretty confident they're getting an invite.
Seems like Cincinnati is the one that most people are cool with from what I've read. Not sure they're anyone's first choice, but they are acceptable for most.
would be totally good with cinci underrated point about the candidates: we get topssuite back in the big 12 if we take Tulane so that's nice
Cincinnati would make an odd shuffling of the TV lineups locally. OSU/Notre Dame are the big players in the Fall and Kentucky basketball in the Winter. Still haven't seen what impact will happen with ND playing ACC and Louisville being so close as an ACC. If Cincinnati goes Big 12, I wonder if there is another school in the country with P5 schools from three other different conferences within 100 miles. TV here will be split by the Big Ten, SEC, ACC, and Big 12.
