Would have thought announcement would be made of that plan this year but suppose their is no rush anyways. Timeline of 26 elsewhere, independent or otherwise, makes sense.
situation is seminole fluid I expect the 210 mil number to grow closer to 250-300 2025 being the last season is currently the focus
Think the main timeline now is February ‘25 is when ESPN has to decide to renew the acc rights so if there is a settlement by then, we would announce it early. Either that or aug ‘25 for us to notify them
Of course the one time Phillips decides to show he has a pulse is to defend John Swofford (paid 2.5 mill by the ACC this year) from meanies. Burn this shithole down.
He's run his mouth about shit that doesn't matter for the entire time he's been on the podium the last 2 years so no one can ask him any questions. He also kicked off the conference by talking about Lacrosse.
Phillips was touting that new incentive program for winning. Apparently all you have to do is win the national championship in football and basketball every year and you too can be only 30 million per year behind Rutgers, Purdue, and Northwestern among others instead of 50. Pretty good deal.
yes the acc is inside that top 3 1. SEC . . . 2. Big10 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 3. ACC real good job you fucking dunce
I will forever stan the B1G's charming little map spot and it warms my heart to see they recognize the gold they've stumbled upon
Can someone edit that with our dick and ball shaped State Capitol building and the Clemson slide popping up out of the ground.
because it knows FSU and Clemson are hell bent on leaving and once they do they have zero desire to pay a premium for a shit product?
yes, it does but they don't want to pay 40 mil per team when that inventory doesn't include 8 games vs FSU or 8 games vs Clemson. it's a glorified G5 conference without those two and ESPN is already cash strapped and will have to find money to pay the SEC for a 9th conference game starting in 2026 so, this is ultimately why they would choose to get out of a deal that had been a steal for them but would turn into a liability in a hurry
that's quite the situation for ESPN then do you re-up not knowing if you will have FSU and Clemson in your inventory for the life of the contract? or do you say fuck it, let the ACC die on the vine and redirect that critical cash flow to the entity that actually drives value for the company? Given ESPN's marching orders from Disney, I'm gonna guess they don't take a leap of faith and instead tell the ACC "let's renegotiate a long term deal once you get your house in order" ESPN tying themselves to the ACC through 2036 when they don't have to would be incredibly stupid even while FSU and Clemson are in court battles trying to get out
this scenario makes sense if the assumption is also that this takes the SEC off the table for FSU/Clemson ESPN not going to voluntarily pay more for the same inventory.
correct. And I tend to buy the notion the SEC doesn't care to add those two and this really comes down to Fox/B1G wanting a foothold in the South neither are doing this to go to the BXII, so that stuff isn't even the discussion here
