I liked making him all pretty again.
I believe there would be more than you think that gave the game up in the early portions. I went on farther than I really wanted to. Made it maybe 20 hrs, give or take a few. I knew I wasnt having any fun, but it took a little while for me to admit it. Eventually I realized there was nothing pulling me back into it. It got to where I played it once every few days, and eventually to where I havent even thought about starting it up in the past 2-3 months.
Also, like TrustyPatches said, I would assume you are one of the few that didnt have any issue with the controls.
I decided I wanted to finish. I logged in. I had to ride my horse from one corner to the exact opposite. I got halfway and turned it off because I was bored. A fast travel option would have done wonders for this game
Yeah, I think with all the other complaints I have about the game (which align pretty well with that article) that having a better travel system would have helped me to struggle through with it.
Go and read the thread from when the game came out. There were a lot more people posting in here regularly and the majority were taking their time with the story. Very few of them are still following the thread and that's why the overwhelming majority of the last couple of pages are negative.
And I remember issues with the controls early on. They were rarely anything but laughable and for most people didn't continue past the first couple of hours.
Those people posting positive stuff were wrong
The comment about the gun cleaning at the gunsmith was head on the nail for me. Just awful UI decisions
A game of this magnitude from rockstar had more people willing to not be completely honest with themselves. You don't want to be the first to come out and be negative about the game that seemingly everyone loves, from a studio with a great track record. I think that's why you see people saying that they're taking their time with it, instead of admitting that the game just hasn't hooked them yet. I went down this path, and understand it all too well. I wouldn't be surprised if I was one of the ones talking about taking my time with it.
2 things I will agree with
- Game needed fast travel
- Speeding up your walking pace in and around the camp
Otherwise, thought the game was fantastic
I took my time and played it fully and to its potential. I thought I liked it several times as CUtigers and Odin can confirm, but, every time I thought I liked it, the game would shit down it’s leg and ruin itself wrt story, mission design or just being in general too boring. Games a fucking trash can. I say that being a Rockstar fan boy and a far less cunty video game guy than I am an everything else guy
Multiple people itt have played through the game’s story more than once.
We were hooked...there was just plenty to take your time taking in. The game’s pace wasn’t for everyone but, again, it was overwhelmingly enjoyed by the majority at release.
I'd really like go know who on TMB subjected themselves to multiple playthroughs of this fucking game, so I can then know whose gaming opinion to take with a grain of salt from here on out.
I loved the story and game, hunting and fishing, spent hours just exploring etc
Fast travel would have been great in so many ways
Hated brushing my horse, having to eat, strolling through camp
Biggest let down was online, it could have been great, but it sucked
I can see how some people got bored with travel, but it never bothered me that much because of how incredible the setting is. I spent 10 hours getting the Eastern Satchel before progressing the story. I did get to a point when I was ready to finish the main story and went strictly story mode. Will definitely go back and play again to try and get more achievements, but I have to finish Sekiro first.
One good, one bad for me.
I just got to the epilogue. I can finally finish some shit.
Oh boy are you in for a treat
I finished the dinosaur bones and fishing first. John doing chores was weak.
There definitely is fast travel in the game...
They forgot to ship it with my copy
You get it when you upgrade Arthur's tent at camp. Plus trains and stage coaches act as fast travel as well.
Theres a map at your base that lets you fast travel. It's not perfect, but it definitely helps.
I actually just figured that those bitching about it thought the map+train/coach wasn't enough...not that they didn't even know the map existed. I kind of hope that's the case now.
I think what they're saying is that is should've been easily more accessible. Maybe mapped to weapons/accessories wheel
I think the best point made was how the game just tells you to believe that Dutch used to be great. You don't get that journey of seeing Dutch be a great leader, seeing him falter, then being betrayed when he turns out to be something he's not. You also never really understand why Micah, who just joined the gang, has so much of Dutch's ear and why Dutch is seemingly siding with Micah at times over Arthur.
I mean, they're not going to give you the entire story when they could make that RDR3.
I like the idea of them continuing to do prequels until the American Revolution.
Have they even mentioned story DLC? I know leading up to the game they didnt really answer questions about it so most assumed they wouldnt be making any story DLC.
No and I don't think they will do any DLC. We are 6 months out from release. Probably would have heard by now if they were going to.
It's way cheaper to make people buy the microtransactions than it is to make DLC.
Also Apparently someone found some hidden audio files of an adult Jack Marston, so
Microtransactions only work in a game like this for online...and no one is playing that shit because it's awful. DLC is the only way they're going to make any additional money on this game.
Yeah, I remember people finding those files.
I would settle for a remake of RDR with the updated visuals but even then I don't think we wre getting anything.
Like you said they are just pumping out bs for Online.
Are there any new PS4 games that are fun I should know about???
Heard Days Gone is pretty legit
I thought it got pretty terrible reviews
It evidently was being reviewed before the patches were finished.
It never sounded like my cup of tea but the state of the game outlets got early wasn’t reflective of the final state.
Seems like most average people (streamers) who play it actually enjoy it.
Or just didn't suck at the game. It's ok if it took you a while to get through it. Games can be hard sometimes.
Unless everyone's talking about online experience then yeah that was bad enough to make me want to not play any more.
In what world do you consider RDR2 a hard game?
The only hard part of rdr2 is trying to stay awake while playing it.
“Games can be hard”
I never knew this
The one where people hate horse rides, since being patient is hard for some?
I love you guys
