Jeff Sessions being the first Senator to endorse Trump only to be repaid by Trump ending his career is the best.
Maybe I'm stupid, but doesn't it literally state this and the entire premise behind checks and balances of our 3 tiered govt?
I am starting to think our government as it is currently operating is only set up to serve the interests of the rich and powerful.
Oh god just the idea of having to sit through a federal income taxation class makes me think being a lawyer is the woat profession
I like that the more Alito gets put under the microscope, the more he doubles down. Hopefully he never shuts up
I mean, he is following the Trump playbook. That fuckhead has already admitted to all the things, is laughing about any repercussions happening, and is still out grifting.
Literally my least favorite type of person. "I'M A VICTIM" says the white, upper-class male who is sorta ethnic and plays that card.
I took Tax for Non-Tax Attorneys and I took it pass/fail. I should have taken it for a grade, because the final was cake. Being a lawyer is still pretty bad.
Loving the people in the comments finding out rich people register their RVs in localities where it’s cheap, not where they actually live or store it.
My mom is a CPA and I remember her telling me that when I commented that it seemed like every RV I saw had Montana plates even though we were in Kansas. Who knows.
I am enjoying the media being lock step in going Scorched earth on the scotus since the overturn of roe. they seemingly didn’t realize how pissed off even people who would typically defend those actions would make everyone even tho they were warned I believe by Roberts. He clearly read the room and they didnt
Love how at the time they completely glossed over Kavanaugh's debt disappearing and that bizarre transaction with the baseball tickets
It takes just one county DA to file charges for tax evasion to make this story significantly funnier. I recognize it won’t happen, but a boy can dream.
I grew up in Boise,ID and only a few counties in Idaho required emissions checks. A judge in my neighborhood registered his cars to his cabin’s address in a county that didn’t require emissions checks.
Crotchety old man weirdly into porn who harasses all the women and has a nut job conspiracy theory wife. I'm sure they're a hoot at parties
Propublica out with an article on Thomas' shenanigans. https://www.propublica.org/article/...ionaires-sokol-huizenga-novelly-supreme-court
I feel like if you're a blue state you just come out and say at this point due to the corruption of Alito and thomas we can no longer listen to the SCOTUS rulings as law. I mean Alabama literally just stripped black people of representation and are refusing to change the maps in the face of a ruling from a conservative court. So why the fuck should anyone else listen to them?
New York or Cali should just say “we made guns illegal and everyone is now gay. fuck you you corrupt shitheels”
I think a reimagining of the court and the way it's rulings are enforced is prob inevitable at some point in the future. We already have one side ignoring rulings they don't like and I feel like this will get worse and not better.
Alabama pretty mcuh set the table for the south to tell the SCOTUS to fuck off on any ruling they don't like. Blue states need to do the same Spoiler and minorities and lgbtq people need to do whatever it takes to get the fuck out of the new jim crow south myself included.
The problem is that isn’t really the way it works. By design, most of their rulings target red and purple states to make them more red.
My guy if a Republican was in power he'd be trying to use every part of the US government to shut down abortion in every part of the country. It's naive to think otherwise
My low-key favorite part of this whole thing is that these justices (and apparently Thomas, in particular) want to live like celebrities going on fabulous vacations (Nebraska excluded), receive valuable gifts, and meet with rich/famous people BUT they also want their privacy and don't want to be questioned about it. On Friday Alito is going to have another opinion piece in WSJ about how he's a victim, and nobody has a right to question anything he or the other conservative justices do, and Roberts won't do a damn thing to regulate the behavior.
