Also ain’t nobody got time for this “The North doesn’t trust Daenerys” or “Bronn’s going to shoot the Lannister brothers with Joffrey’s crossbow” nonsense. Get those storylines out of here. Jon and Dany marry like good little incestual Targaryens and then all out battle for the next few episodes

Dany maybe should have mentioned she gave Sam's father and brother every opportunity to not be killed, which they rejected.

"durr no talking more fighting durrrr"

This season has only 6 episodes, yes, but in terms of run time it's really an 8-episode season. Last night's episode was exactly 1/8 of the season's total run time. Literally the entire episode was the preparations for the wars to come. The season literally opened with the Unsullied marching to Winterfell. The Sansa vs. Dany storyline was largely built around the logistics of feeding and housing three armies for war -- the type of shit that makes GoT the story that it is.

If they had opened with nothing but fighting, bitches like Name P. Redacted and zeberdee would be whining about how the North would never accept Dany and how the show has written out all of its character development blah blah blah

I swear there is no more annoying person than people who complain because it makes them think they're better than everyone else.

I think the writing is shitty. I think everyone shrugging their shoulders at the Night King bringing down a Wall and marching south with a dragon so they could take dragon rides to waterfalls and bitch about who is king doesn't make much sense for the characters. I think the writing was similarly shitty last season.

I was worried coming into this season that while we'd get some really great scenes and hit on major plot points, the stuff in between would be weak. last night did nothing to allay my concerns.

I don't think this opinion makes me better than anyone.

however, if you think the Night King is Rhaegar, then I do think I'm better than you.

Lol the show writing has been questionable since it passed up the source material, this is t a fuckin revelation and there’s a ton of people who watch this show that have a couple decades tied up in this story. It ain’t about “living to bitch” (even though that’s me no fucks given) it’s about hoping, praying and wishing on a star that this final season, with the limited time allotted, doesn’t fall victim to what’s plagued the show now for a couple seasons and just gets the ball rolling.

I think you and people like you have decided you're "over" the show and would hate it no matter what they did, partly because you think it will make you look cool on the Internet.

I do not think the Night King is Rhaegar.

I love the show. I loved season six. last season was disappointing to me, I'm hoping the final season is not.

do you really think people can't have negative opinions of the show without it being to just be cool on the internet?

you seem to be the one trying really hard on the internet right now tbh.

It's not bitching about the lack of fighting, it's more about the dumbing down of the story that's happened over the last few seasons. That's partially because the source material is gone and partially because of them choosing to make the show more accessible to a mass audience once it's popularity took off. Even my girlfriend was repeatedly laughing and rolling her eyes at how cheesy and awful much of the dialogue/scenes was throughout the episode

I'd forgotten how bad the writing had gotten and last night reminded me.

-Sansa and Dany going real housewives and constantly glaring at each other
-how did the editors watch that finished product and not think "people are going to meme the shit out of Bran."
-dialogue between Jon and Dany is painful, like Han Solo and Leia level awful
-I mentioned in the other thread but Dany allowing Jon to trying and ride the dragon even though in her mind it would almost certainly cause his death was unbelievably bad writing. Plus they messed up such an easy way to prove the R+L story to Dany by having Jon jump on a dragon and fly it after establishing that only Targs can fly dragons
    - it was in the preview but next week we are getting more of the Grey Worm- Missandrei love story. Thanks for using up what little time remains on periphery characters that less than 10% of the audience actually cares about.

These last few seasons have made me firmly on Team Cersei. Hoping Jon and Dany die defeating the walkers and the show ends with Sansa and Cersei on their respective thrones and the game starting all over again.

Yeah I feel like the point of this thread is to discuss our thoughts/opinions/theories on the show. Don't take someone being critical as trying to be a know it all/better than you.

It's okay to have differing opinions.

that said I agree with the concerns others have posted specifically about the writing the last couple seasons. I still thoroughly enjoy watching and try my best not to let little things take away from the enjoyment of the show, but it's not easy to do especially for all of us in this thread who have read the books and spent so much time invested into the storylines.

Don't see anything wrong with wanting the final season to live up to expectations and being disappointed if it doesn't.

I think it is fair to say the show has moments that are cringeworthy and the writing is overall not on a level of say Breaking Bad. With that said, I still think the highs from the show / battle scenes / payoffs make these weaker episodes worth it.

The show (like the books) just has too many people / storylines to wrap up and suffers at times due to this.

This is an incredibly stupid complaint. The dragon clearly had shown it was interested in Jon already by letting him touch it, there was no risk of death. The dragon wouldn't have let Jon get close to him if he wouldn't have allowed him to ride, ie like they have done with literally every other person in the world not names Dany or Jon. Not to mention that its only established in the books that only Targs can fly dragons. They've never shown or mentioned that in the show. The show and the books are and have been two separate things for multiple seasons now. Did you expect Jon to get on a dragon for the first time in the middle of the battle? That would be stupid writing, not this.

The show has repeatedly talked about only Targs riding dragons going back all the way to the first season. She even literally says there's a chance that he could die right before he gets on. Even if she thought there may be a chance that the dragons like Jon, it was an unfathomable stupid risk to take. Not sure where the whole jumping on in the middle of battle comes from?

This is the point I was making. Dany has no reason to believe that Jon is a Targ/rightful heir to the throne. Jon proving it by riding the dragon at that point would be much more meaningful. Instead W&B are shit writers, and they in their own words, said they used it as a way to have the audience reconnect to Jon and Dany's relationship.

Show is basically a Marvel movie at this point. It’s good for what it is and parts of it are entertaining, but it’s falling way short of what it could be if that fat piece of shit had finished the books.

That was a legitimately awesome line.

I'll give you 24 hours to come up with a better reply to that question. If at the end of that 24 hour period you can't come up with a line that more than half the people in this thread like, then you have to stfu until next week's episode.

I think it was a good retort. I do think that line for Sansa seemed quite childish and not in-line with how they’ve portrayed her at this point in her life.

Disagree on the latter point. Sansa has every right to be concerned and distrustful of a Targ with dragons. And on top of that it was a legit question added to a legit overall concern about Winterfell's resources.

I thought it was a solid episode. Positioned the pieces on the board where needed to set up for the final episodes. Loved how they ended the episode with Bran staring down Jaime, seeing him for the first time since he pushed him off the tower.

I didn’t like a lot of the last season, but it does seem like some people have decided 100% they don’t like the show anymore and nothing will convince them otherwise.

Also, trying to get a rise out of two fan bases by comparing them to Marvel movies and disparaging Marvel movies by doing it is a weak troll attempt. Do better.
