same. Atlanta and Nashville make the most sense anyway. Tampa is a weird choice geographically for most schools in the conference
I like Tampa. Not like as a usual location, but it's a nice change to have it somewhere warm in early March. I enjoy rotating it, though Nashville is far and away the best host city imo. UK is going to have 2/3 of the fans at minimum no matter where it's held, so a change of scenery every now and then is nice.
Alienating parts of the country because their political views dont align with yours is really sound logic. Sure hope our country (and people on this board) can stop being so divisive. Sorry for the rant. Now back to basketball.
This is a conversation for another thread, but right wing assholes are a completely different level than “political views that don’t align with yours.”
its quickly turning into the rest of the city. It’s novelty is fading fast (helped along by Covid and the 2020 tornado.)
We all look forward to you crying about CRT and discussing the technicalities between pedophilia and whatever banging 16 year olds is called
yeah I haven't spent much time in Nashville the past 5-6 years except for the SECT. I just wanted to be closer to my family and it was the closest big city. Haven't gotten much of a chance to see much of it yet with the weather being so bad.
It is. Tried to go for brunch the other day and it was packed which was nice to see but also I didn’t stick around. It’s about a mile and a half from my house
It’s very close to my brother as well. It’s our go-to when we pull into Nashville late at night. Love that place.
right now I am just staying in a furnished temporary place in Hillsboro/Belmont area. Trying to buy but this is not the best time to be doing it after the holidays. But I'm not in a real rush.
Nashville blows, agree with Atlanta most years and change of pace every 3-4 years. Had a stretch where friend and I went to tourney every year for about 10 years in a row
Why do you think Nashville blows for the tournament? Why do you prefer Atlanta for it? I just hate seeing a basketball tournament in a football stadium. I like going to Atlanta but that sucks and I can't get over that. If they had it in the Hawk's arena, that would be totally different. Atlanta is the only site that's held it in a football stadium since NOLA did it in the Superdome in the 90s I believe.
The downtown part of Nashville blows and is a tourist trap (most of it blows bit especially this). Maybe I just have a nostalgia for Atlanta going to the CNN center and drinking some big ass draft beers before entering a game.
I’m kinda shocked they’ve never had it at FedEx Forum. That seems like it would make sense for a year.
It was in st Louis several years ago, only other spot it has been that I can remember besides Atlanta, Nashville and Tampa
The new State Farm Arena is so perfect for the SEC tourney but they would probably have it at Mercedes Benz to completely ruin the atmosphere if they ever have it in ATL again.
Last time in Tampa was fun but it got a bad rap because Florida was awful that year (Calathes NIT year) and UK had Gillespie and got bounced in the first round. So attendance was awful after the first round. But the Arena was well located and it was sunny outside so I was fine. I welcome a tournament with less hillbilly UK fans so I was happy. bertwing do you think y'all will ever bring a ton of people back? When I first started going as a kid Arkansas used to bring like almost 10k people to Atlanta. It was pretty awesome to see.
We have been like that the last two years. We dominated the crowds in Indy too. I had too much fun there and almost fought 3 Baylor fans Things died down there for a bit with Heath, Pelphrey, and the first couple years of MA. We’re fairly rabid again.
I guess if you want to avoid the typical tourist areas to get some crack. Memphis’s main problem with hosting stuff like this is not enough hotels.
