The whole confused me like why was she so scared of falling again when she already knows there is water there. I guess bc she can’t swim but still. Plus couldn’t she just enter from the bottom after she fell? Idk can’t remove how the silo was set up
Biggest gripe with this show is the episodes feel like they’re 10 minutes long I liked first 2 episodes of this season
I feel like constantly in that episode I was having "Trust the Coaches!!!" repeating in my head. I have no idea why they are making some of the choices they are and one of them I'm completely fucking dumbfounded. It's still entertaining TV but it's giving me anxiety at what the direction could mean for events later on Spoiler: lots of book spoiler Are they really going to fabricate this judicial chick being the new shadow instead of Lucas? He's like the 3rd or 4th most important character in this part of the story and even moreso later in the story. For now I'm going to assume Judicial lady dies in the rebellion and never goes outside because I'm imagining Juliet getting back into the silo from her going outside and not from Bernard. I sincerely hope they get back to the source material quickly, get Lucas in the shadow room, and never let this woman go outside. Bernard getting forced out is both hugely important in book 3, and a huge payoff emotionally for the audience after everything he does before and during the rebellion Trust the coaches
The pacing of the first two episodes has been a trudge for me. Maybe I’m not in the right mindset yet, and I know they are setup, but I wish they gave us a bit more plot advancement.
They didn’t need a silo 18 only episode for #2. I believe they’re going to be advancing both silo stories at the same time going forward. Looking at the list of episode titles they released looks like it’ll be decent pacing the rest of the way and ending as we expected at the end of Book 1. this weeks episode is “Solo” If they omit Shadow from the show I’m going to have a very disappointed cat at my house
No way they omit Shadow - Solo's whole arc was awesome from Book 2 and I think it makes sense to introduce it during this second season. Going to try to keep from looking at ep names so each week is fresh and new.
It'd be hilarious if they decide to show his secret room heaping pile of multiple years worth of poop
Honestly hoping they make Juliette discover Silo 17s Sheriffs apartment that is just overflow with Solo's dumps lmao. Would be a very funny moment.
A room full of poop was just spoiled though, so please stop talking about the books in the show thread.
I don't know who I expected Solo to be but you could have given me a million guesses and I would have never thought it was that actor
He’s had a rough go after a prosperous music career of being in a Neil Diamond cover band and then guitarist for the Oneders
Every scene with Zahn/Ferg is great did not see that judge scene coming. Hopefully Common is overstepping his bounds enough that he sees actual repercussions
Spoiler: book my guess is what she deciphered on the hard drive while being IT Shadow was the end-game of the WOOL project. Knowing that would probably turn me into an alcoholic / make me want to sober up and GTFO of whatever silo I was in the second I thought it was safe and possible
I know fuckall and have read nothing before this post so a simple question: is this worth watching as I have heard? I have a deeply fatal flaw in being seriously attracted to Rebecca Ferguson so I can't necessarily trust my dick to lead me to good TV.
I haven't read the books so I don't really want to know if he dies or not, but I really hope Common gets got this season. Travis Fimmel in Dune Prophecy, too.
Only other complaint about the show is the lighting. It might be the worst lighting on a major show I've ever seen.
I've seen the lighting thing all over Reddit but haven't had a problem personally. Not sure if my TV has some custom brightness setting that's been on forever or if it's a PS5 thing or what but it looks normal to me
From episode 1 - how can she breathe without the mask/suit in the new silo if the roof was cracked open? Wouldn’t all that air be tainted? Edit - nm. Forgot about the other door she wedged open
My biggest criticism is why can’t we flip back any forth between silos more often per ep. Would’ve enjoyed this happening more vs being all in just one of the two every other episode.
I agree the pacing has been much slower and some situations they've spent time on instead of moving the story along have been kinda meh (and created for the show). Where they are right now in the show should have been 3-4 episodes ago. It feels like they're about to pack so much stuff into the final 3 episodes.
I was talking to my parents who are only show watchers (I’m a book reader, letting season 2 come out and binging it so have not watched any of s2) and they are losing interest too. It sounds like: Spoiler the show is going to have the rebellion in the home Silo be one episode. Part of the tension in the book that really propelled the second half was the rebellion was ongoing for the entire time Jules is gone and her returning and the Mayor getting got was the crescendo on victory. IIRC. Having that play out in one episode as a “battle” as opposed to being something closer to a setting for at least half the season is/would be a shame.
Spoiler There's 3 episodes left and they haven't started the actual march to IT yet. So it'll either be one episode or two. This weeks episode picked up the pace and caught some storylines up to where they should be per the book though.
Thought last weeks episode got us back on track with pacing a little bit. Nope. The pacing on Episode 8 may have been the worst yet. 8min of Juliette being on screen and most of that time wasted completely. Apparently it's a problem with the director that did episodes 8 and 5, arguably the two worst episodes of the season IMO. At this point I just want them to finish this season without damaging the story too much before getting to seasons 3-4. I've read some things on reddit that have me hopeful that they do more justice to books 2-3 and the overall story in general in seasons 3-4 than they have with this season. Lukas is the only storyline that's doing shit for this show at the moment. Nobody gives a single fuck about Common or the new security guy. And the only way to keep from making Walker's character anything close to as loved as she was in the books is if her getting those people caught is some kind of "ok now they're behind enemy lines" kind of thing. If she didn't have a plan for that... it's a terrible writing decision
No actual content in the spoiler but going to put it behind spoiler tag anyways Spoiler: seasons 3-4 format Saw a reddit thread where a guy spoke with someone in the industry that works on another Apple+ series and knows the people who did vfx for Season 3 of Silo (and was confirmed by another person who worked on shooting in the UK for S3). He confirmed that they're basically going to tell books 2-3 together in seasons 3-4 and do Shift through flashbacks in episodes and potentially some full flashback episodes
Haven't read the books, but I'm guessing she doesn't snitch in them? Just seems like a baffling choice that's so out of character for her.
Walkers a man. No ex lover. Only leaves his home to tell people about the tape in the cafeteria after Jules walks over the hill. Everything else is made for TV. More of a stay at home mentor spitting wisdom most of the time
this season has been actively bad. I can’t recall another recent show that has fallen off this much from S1 to S2 (Reacher maybe?). They’ve somehow made every scene with Juliette feel like a total waste to the point where I actively dread any time spent in the other silo. As someone else mentioned the only storyline even remotely interesting is Lucas.
Just finished reading the third book while also watching this show. The show is adding so much extra stuff that isn't in the books that it's making this season a real downer compared to the first season. Hoping this season wraps up book 1 in a somewhat decent way and TLAU 's post above re: seasons 3-4 are true
Okay, this week's episode moved things along with the quickness. Solo's backstory reveal was well done.
