I like having the physical cards and opening packs. Financial gain is always nice but card collecting is more than that to me
I’ve bought two singles in my entire life and I probably have 5 thousand cards in top loaders. My grandma gave me $20 for my 5th birthday and I bought a Mark Grace and Ryne Sanberg rookie card from my LCS and those remain the only singles I’ve bought in my entire life. I just love the feeling of getting something cool out of a pack
My three Bowman Megas that I ordered a week ago Friday showed up today. First two were pretty pretty bad. Number three had this:
The red white and blue lamelo reminded me of my Luka Rwb I pulled in my one and only NBA pack in his rookie year. At the time it was around $45, and trade it for an Acuna lot. Either way, I'm good
If anybody wants to modify the thread title or anything, let me know. I really just read as I haven't ripped or collected in quite a bit
Opened another today. One(1) Bowman 1st in the entire thing. I have one more in my stash. Hopefully it has a banger in it whenever I open it.
My 3 mega boxes I bought May 28th from Target still have not gotten here yet, let alone the additional 2 I bought this Friday. I'm not sure of the 5 how many I'm going to open.
My 5 blasters of Contenders from Target showed up yesterday. I wasn't planning to open them all but I did and I gotta say, pretty underwhelming. Very few rookies, no exciting inserts, and even though every box contains "1 auto or mem", I went 5/5 with mine being shit patch cards "not associated with any event or player". One was Anthony Edwards, which was about the only redeeming card of the 5 blasters.
Anyone with a Hobby Lobby nearby might want to check it out. It was empty at the time I was there, but they had 3-4 hooks labeled for trading cards. Hoops, Topps, and some football I think. Same shelf where they have coin collecting and stamp collecting stuff. I go there every now and then for other stuff and this is the first time I've seen this. They usually just had top loaders and pages.
Similar to Topshot and other NFTs, I'll never understand the appeal. But to each their own. I'm all about having the tangible item in hand, otherwise I don't really feel as though I own it. Nobody goes around acting like they own Apple when they hold 5 shares, do they? Seems like a similar situation here. But I won't knock anybody that is trying to make some money off the NFTs. It just isn't typically for card collectors.
Looks like some recent eBay auction sales have it in the $9k range. Not too shabby for a shoebox find!
Got my Topps Finest master box (eBay) tonight. These cards are awesome. Lots of good inserts, numbered cards, refractors, 2 autos per box. Overall really like them, though their quality control could use some work. One of my autos and several of the refractors had dimples and highly noticeable surface marks.
Opened my Ray Lewis Dare to Tear Legacy card and pulled a banger jersey #8/10 too, phone camera is dogshit
Those of you smarter than me, and that's going to be most of you, have any idea on the print run for chronicles soccer? Trying to get a rough idea of how many silver prizms are in the product.
Target with the surprise Wednesday morning restock online just a bit ago. Prizm NBA cellos were alerted and OOS within 10 seconds. I need to learn to code apparently
That's how it's been the last couple of weeks. The random Wednesday drop has me thinking they might shake things up.
Better luck than me. Just got my 3 from 2 Fridays ago on Tuesday, still don't have mine from this friday
