Some Son to Bayern rumors popping up on Twitter, “per reports”. Can’t find the original source. I thought the Son contract talks had gotten kind of quiet.
I think the best thing for the club is to sell both him and Kane and go into full rebuilding mode... but I don’t really trust our current front office set up to handle it competently.
in no way shape or form do I want Jose having any say in a rebuild. figure out what Kane wants to do with Jose and go from there. Kane's having one of, if not his best, year statistically so idk, maybe he likes Jose.
This is absolutely zero like the Eriksen situation. Eriksen's people declared in advance of the season that he wasn't coming back. Son's people and those around the club have repeatedly said he is close to a deal with us and love sit here. Oh and thank god for the Eriksen situation in some ways. It doesn't look like he has what it takes anymore and hasn't for awhile.
Maybe you haven’t been paying attention for the last couple months but he’s been playing more for Inter, has played pretty well and it just happens to coincide with the time frame of them going top of the table and getting a good hold of the lead
One of the local City guys is an Inter fan and has been bitching the entire time about Conte’s stubbornness for not playing him even more
I haven't. Good to know, but that doesn't change that he sucked for us the past year and a half he was here. I loved Eriksen but he handled it all so poorly.
In the 18-19 season, there were constant rumors and ITK of Eriksen being on the verge of resigning. Those rumors never amounted to anything and we obviously lost him for much less than we should have. We’ve heard multiple times this year that Sonny is close to resigning but that obviously hasn’t happened, which really gives us this summer to get a new deal done because if we get to December without pen to paper, we know where this is going...again.
Why do you think he handled it so poorly? I don’t think he was ever a real distraction, he didn’t complain to the media or shirk responsibility on the pitch. He certainly was in poor form, but he still ran more than any player we had.
I just checked stats and Eriksen has 5 goals and 3 assists in 50 matches since joining Inter. Not exactly lighting the world on fire.
If Son cared about winning trophies, why would he come here in the first place? Spoiler Taking my lap now
I don't want to get in the way of your perpetual pessimism, but there are plenty of examples of people who were rumored to be resigning who did as well. I know you love to create your own misery though. I recall Eriksen making it clear he was leaving for awhile. If we get to Summer and no deal is done then I will be with you, but I am not getting freaked out based on where we are at right now.
Eriksen said he was ready for a new challenge like 5 days after the 2019 Champions League final. That shit stung.
I don't blame him for Jan banging his girlfriend (jk), but I think his results and our results point to it being a distraction. I am not in the locker room to say otherwise, but the decline of the team and his decline coincided with him wanting to be sold that Summer.
If we win Sunday, we go 4th with a healthy GD of at least +4. WHU don’t play until Monday at Wolves, so it could be relatively short lived but regardless, we’re back in the thick of it. Maybe bowing out of Europa actually helps us get Europe next season.
Wow they just said Callum Robinson has only scored 5 goals in his career, and they are all against Chelsea. That’s some stat.
Gotta say, i did not expect to wake up to Chelsea to not just drop points, but drop all 3, and lose 3 goals on goal differential. Dream start to the weekend. This should provide a jolt in the locker room. Hopefully we don’t blow this chance with Man U up next weekend.
What do y’all think the lineup will be tomorrow? Hoping for: Lloris; Reggie, Dav, Toby, Japh; PEH, Tanguy, GLC; Son, Kane, Bale FWIW, I expect Lucas over Bale, and he’s earned it. Really just want to see Japh and that midfield trio.
Lucas at the 10 could be interesting, and something I didn’t really think of. He’s certainly at his best when he can run directly at defenders and that would allow him to do so while Kane drifts back into negative space to fill that void.
Pretty much this, but I don't know about injuries or players who may have played too much during the international break. Front six seems right though. I could see Dier or even Rodon getting the start over Toby. I could also see Davies. Didn't Reguilon get a bit banged up in our last game?
They get Saint-Maximin back for this game. He is a fun player to watch, but hopefully he is not back in form yet.
He’s so mercurial. Bigger win for us is Wilson still being out. Hopefully they’ve given up on Bruce, but it’s hard not to expect us to have to work hard for it tomorrow.
