I love the design of that stadium, you would never know it only holds 18,500 with the way the upper deck is on top of the field. Much prefer that rather then something like Colorado's field. That place should be very loud when Phase Four is complete.
LOL, the original estimate of Zenit's stadium was $210 million and is now projected at $1.4 billion. No surprise because it's been such a slow moving construction process, shady stuff in Russia, who would've thunk? http://www.nytimes.com/2012/10/29/w...s-scrutinize-costly-soccer-stadium.html?_r=1&
Can't wait til the renovations are finished. Sucks that they have to play games with a quarter of the stadium empty though.
Velodrome top looks like a roller coaster, they should make that an attraction. Roller coaster on top of a stadium would be awesome.
I was wrong, actually it won't be used for the WC, another stadium in Porto Alegre that's being renovated is.
Hilarious. The only thing they get done is completely unrelated. Will not be surprised when the renovation isn't completed on time.
It's no wonder marseilles home form hasn't been great recently. I can't imagine having to play with all that stuff around the stands.
This isn't a stadium under construction, but I was google streetview-ing madrid today and came across atletico madrid's stadium. A freeway runs under the west stand, I've never seen anything like it before:
Atletico just has one more year season at that stadium. They're using a small former track and field stadium and turning into a 70,000 seat stadium, won't have a track. Spoiler
I dunno, but probably not. In Atlanta a building called the Atlanta Financial Center and parking deck, a Marta rail station and Peachtree road are all above Georgia 400 freeway. So I am sure there are others similar, but it is pretty bad ass that the stadium is partly over the freeway. Spoiler
