man this is spot on. Ressler is the easiest mark in the nba. we are refusing to play our last 2 first round picks, but are giving minutes to garrison Matthews and Patty Mills. gave away Huerter and Collins in a straight money save had Delon Wrights bird rights and let him go for nothing despite being a useful player! didn’t use the MLE. Haven’t used the Collins trade exception. Leave roster spots empty to save money
Eh I think they're at least playing Jalen more now, but I agree with the rest. The fucking defense is so bad this year and Capela seems to have taken a step back.
Watching some of this Jazz game and I think Kessler would be a great fit on this team if they decide to move on from him. Seems like they aren’t playing him as much. Take a chance on a defensive center while he’s on a rookie deal
Doubt Ainge would give him up easily and we don’t have a ton of assets bc of a nepo failson. need OO to get healthy. Send Capela away for a bag of balls. Hope we can find a decent C2. need to nail the draft and need Griffin, Bufkin and Lundy to get healthy Just a reminder we have away Collins for nothing and didn’t use the trade exception from that deal and haven’t used the MLE
I’d really like to see us 1. tank to fall out of the play in and hope we get lottery luck 2. Trade Capela and find a competent and cheaper back up 5 3. Find some fn towards. It’s embarrassing we went into the year with 3 guys who could play the 3 and 4 combined. Something like a free agent haul of Kyle Anderson, Deanthony Melton and Nic Claxton. Wouldn’t be expensive at all. I’d trade Dejountae too, put Kobe at the 2, for poa defense and whatever we get for DJM is fine. Sunk cost and move on. Maybe our cheap ass owner if he doesn’t get the gate from a first round playoff series might be motivated. I doubt it though
There probably won’t be many major changes, but I’d expect to see them spend what they got and have a better bench. At this point I hope they’ve given up on drafting a defensive wing and just shoot for another star/BPA. Trading Murray probably needs to happen eventually but I won’t be shocked if they hang onto him another season. Eventually I’d like to see us add picks capable of landing in the lottery for 2025 and 2026 drafts(who doesn’t? lol). That seems like our best shot to net another star. I’m not sure if the Nets will catch us or not, but I wouldn’t hate it for this draft either. With all the uncertainty at the top, a good player could fall to 8 or 9ish
We won’t be able to get but one rotation quality FA and that will be at the mid level. So maybe 4/$52 max. Claxton is worth more than that so that’s not working with him. Maybe KCP with a team option for the 4th year. I agree with getting Clint out for anything and cutting bait on Dejounte. Kobe needs to play 30 mins a night next year. Hopefully DJ can bring back 2 1sts and a competent rotation wing. Decent chance to get Kyle Filipowski for that back up center in the draft. Get Bey to come in with a 2 year contract on a team option for the 2nd season. That team will be better than this one but Ressler needs to bite the tax bullet finally.
I can’t see this ownership doing that if we aren’t a contender. Outside of Trae and Jalen, this team is a lot of mid. The eastern conference is still pretty mediocre as a whole, so no real reason to blow it up.
So ummm yeah. Quinn has fixed Deandre Hunter. Vit Kreci is a rotation wing. Bruno doesn’t kill you on the floor. Also. Quinn has figured out Bostons shit. things could get interesting here…..
Vit looks like the biggest douche but he’s legit and Bruno being a legit NBA player is a weird surprise still have no idea who Widner is tbh
Owsley what happened to all the birds in my yard? Did they all fly back North? I still have a few Cardinal, some tit mice, and things like that, but I had a shit ton of bluebirds and whatnot a few weeks ago. I also feel like I haven't seen a Brown Thrasher in forever.
Given this is the Hawks thread, I’m going to assume they knew it was playoff time and decided to call it quits But seriously, a lot are probably raising broods right now. Takes a lot of time between laying/incubating/raising/defending territory and they also start focusing more on insects and other invertebrates to feed young rather than normal bird feeder fare. I’m kinda the same way right now. I’ve even got mealworms out and the bluebirds have been mia for a minute or two. Wrens are still enjoying them, though.
Coincidentally the Coopers and Redtails are still hanging around my house. There isn't anything better to talk about in here anyway
I am in mock trade mode. bring me Cade and 5 for 1 and DJM I like half of New Orleans roster I wonder how I can get Daniels
I don't follow college basketball enough to know if there's a consensus number one but I know enough that it's not the best year. Nevertheless we have to hit on this.
Would you trade 1 to Spurs for 4 & 8? Would the Spurs do it if they fell in love with a prospect? I think I would if I were the Hawks.
Not in this draft. If you’re going to trade 1.1, you need to get 2025 and 2027 picks as part of the return package.
not in this draft. I’d do it for Vassell and 4 or 8 As important as the draft is what we do with DJM bc the pairing isn’t working
If not Sarr, trade back and hope that Clingan falls? Feels like the Hawks need a center badly, so I’d bet they do take Sarr.
herb and Murphy are about to get extended I’d imagine Dyson Daniels is the best we can do from NO. I do think we could find a 3 and D wing. hunters splits when he came off the bench we’re really good. When he has to play for more than 30 minutes he falls apart. Id also watch for Mo Gueye next year. He has a legit shot at being a good back up to Jalen. Do not forget how good JJ is
I mean, yeah, that’s an easy “yes” for me. I’m pretty firmly down to supporting two options: 1. Draft Sarr 2. Trade the pick for a king’s ransom
They're gonna trade Sarr for a lesser player, and a future draft pick that they'll use on a shitty Duke player.
Sounds like Trae is finally gonna tell Tony to stop being a cheap bitch or trade him. Let’s see if Tony is ready to lose his cash cow to save a few tax dollars.
Givony 1. Atlanta Hawks Zaccharie Risacher, SF, Bourg (France) | Age: 19.1 The intel out of the Hawks continues to indicate that their front office is at an early stage in its decision-making process and there likely won't be clarity on which way the team is leaning with this pick until closer to draft night. It's unclear how much of an appetite ownership has for entering a rebuilding mode, and that might be difficult to avoid depending on what the team does in regard to the futures of stars Trae Young and Dejounte Murray, Trading this pick for more immediate contributors or moving down to take multiple swings in this relatively flat lottery class are options. Take for example a scenario in which San Antonio would trade the No. 4 and No. 8 selections for the right to move up and draft Risacher. Should Atlanta stand pat at No. 1, Risacher is looking like an increasingly attractive option. His season came to a close with Bourg's semifinal loss to No. 1 seed Monaco, capping off a playoff run in which he averaged 15.1 points and 7.4 rebounds per game, shooting 67% from the field and 38% on 3-pointers; all outstanding numbers for a 19-year-old at this level of competition. His next stop is the NBA Global Camp in Treviso, Italy, where he'll have a medical examination and undergo draft combine activity including interviews with interested teams. Every team in the top five has significant interest in Risacher, and it is looking highly unlikely, barring a major surprise, that he'll drop out of the top two. -- Givony
Take it FWIW, but he was playing in one of the best non-NBA domestic leagues in the world. Spain, France, Greece, Turkey, Germany, Italy, and Russia traditionally have the best Euro leagues.
I’m torn between Zach R and Sarr. On one hand But 6’8 connectors with shot volume are so hard to get. On the other hand Sarr could conceivably have insane upside as he was a perimeter player who hit a growth spurt But he could max out as a Claxton type and those could be had every year for 20mm
It sucks we didn't get Sacramentos pick because Sarr and Knecht/Walter would be a great draft for the Hawks to me.
Sarr is never going to be able to shoot. I just want nothing to do with the family after living through the brother's growing up process. Its a backcourt + wing game Unless you can find unicorn bigs Risch has proven to be a perimeter shooter with size. Thats what every playoff team needs.
