IF we had a hypothetical situation where a disgruntled ex employee was making threats against staff members, I and several others up here would be armed on the DL. But that totally never happened. Ever.
Just applied for my CCP today. I have a full size Smith &Wesson M&P 9mm I keep at home. Would like a CC that is good for use with pocket and IWB holsters and am not a very experienced shooter. My early thoughts based on net research are M&P Shield or 642 revolver. What are your recommendations?
I'd recommend not carrying in the pocket. I carry the MP shield right now and it's dimensions are more than suitable for any kind of waist carry. The idea of pocket carry is great but all pants, jeans, shorts have different sized pockets. It's going to take up your entire pocket too. Drawing from your pocket is a pain in the ass and for me at least it's a lot more effort than I want. Holsters and a rigid belt is a good starting point. You'll probably go through at least 5 holsters until you find one you like. Carrying is a big deal, just be smart.
fuck no. I like the idea of my spouse having more rounds so she has a G19 with the 30 rd mag. If she needed to she could run the pump on the 870
The pocket carry is specific to my work pants, which are all the same because I wear a uniform. Not likely something I would want to do all the time, but it is a reason I'm leaning toward a gun with a safety (no glock) or something with a heavy DAO trigger pull (642).
I exclusively front pocket carry these days. The problem with my xDS & the G43 is that they leave a very distinguished imprint when concealed this way. For that reason, I opted for a S&W revolver. All the J-Frames are great & reliable, but weight is an important factor to consider. For that reason, I opted for the 340 M&P over the 642 or other variants. As others have mentioned, pocket carry is specific to the pants/pocket... fortunately there are tons of cheap options for rounded/squared pocket carry
speaking of belts, I wear my leather daily and it's great. I lost a few inches though so now I have to gouge a new hole. I want to get a really rigid nylon operator style. Name to me some reliable tacti-cool belts that will last.
The banic has begun. Stripped lowers are going for 300 already. I recommend going to slick guns and buying some ammo for your ARs before they jack the price on it again. Realistically this was a great year for prices and you should cash in on it before all the gun nuts go crazy. I did this one earlier, not a member but used the 20% off instead of free shipping https://www.slickguns.com/product/223-rem-55-gr-wolf-gold-fmj-1000-rounds-42000
Ordered the Microtech tonight, this exact one. Now I'm pushing a thousand dollars in knives in one week. I can see this problem getting worse before it gets better.
Went to the range today and rented both the 43 and the M&P shield. I had a hard time with the size of the 43. It was just too small for me to hold comfortably without putting too much finger on the trigger and I was low and left the whole time. I liked the magazine and how it fed, just not a good fit for my hand. I shot the shield more acurrately but the rental at least felt a bit flimsy. the magazine didn't fit tight and easy every time and the first round wasn't feeding clean unless I was pushing the slide. Then I tried a 637 revolver because they didn't have the 642. Despite what I've heard about J frames being hard to shoot and not very fun, I loved it. I was able to shoot it fairly well (for me) right away and didn't have to hink about how I was holding it as much as the compacts. I also felt like the 5 rounds of .38 special would be just as effective as 7 or 8 rounds of 9mm due to the difference in (my) accuracy. Will probably be buying the 642 in the next couple months.
On small pistols like that you can use all the finger you want. I carry the LCP and I thought the same shit too, but i just ended up saying fuck it and putting as much as I could in my palm and as much finger as I wanted. Been great.
The most important thing is this.. Whatever you find that you shoot best, or can feel confident in improving is what you should go with. I wouldn't put a lot of stock in a range fun feeling loose or anything like that. Those guns have had probably millions or rounds put through them.
mp shield is notorious for having to slam the magazine into the grip. Nice thing is you can by Mags that hold 8 rounds and act as an extender. Giving you 8+1 is always nice.
Also anyone who'd like to give a referral for gunbroker or the like, please pm me. Gun stores in ITP Atlanta are expensive.
Initially had this issue with my 41. Range master suggested not only too much finger on the trigger but that I may be pulling the trigger too fast as well. Made the adjustment and I started getting closer to center mass again
I like Big Woods Goods but I'm biased because it's close to home. I've heard great things about Adventure Outdoors.
do the same with my xd40. It's my first subcompact and it took me a while to learn that. Now, I shoot it as well as my big revolvers within range.
just got a glock 19. besides lots of ammo and practice, any recommendations? any mods from factory that y'all recommend? I like the way the m&p and shield felt slightly better in my hand, but I shot the glock really well. I may eventually get the grip modified some....honestly will likely eventually get an m&p and a shield too lol
Be sure to get a few of these. http://palmettostatearmory.com/gloc...-capacity-black-polymer-extended-mf17033.html
Freedom Munitions doing free shipping for Halloween, today is the last day. Orders over $99 ship free. It's commercial once reloaded ammo, if you need some quality bulk range fodder this is good stuff.
Yeah I wouldn't put out any money on decorating your gun yet. I've been running my firearm stock for over a year. I just got some xs-bigdots and gonna put them on eventually. The most I did was Talon grips which I would advise on just about any modern pistol.
Went to the indoor range with my buddy Sunday. We eventually put the target at 57 yards (max the range had) to shoot my AR and he decided to try two shots with his duty pistol from a prone position. Fucker put one just below center mass and one off target but still on the paper. Like "thanks for showing me up fucker". Lucky but still pretty good. Of course one of my other friends, we'll call him Mr. 1 Upper, then tried to tell us that Madison PD requires quarter sized grouping with duty pistols at 50 yards on a monthly basis. I had no idea the local PD was full of like Olympic skilled pistol shooters....
Wondering how to get the insurance company to front this http://www.capitolarmory.com/remington-870-sbs-silencerco-salvo-summit-package.html
Ohhhhh shit that reminded me of something. And what was the name of that place we met at and had those bomb ass biscuits?
