Do we have an idea of the plot or who the main character is going to be?
We'll play as Ellie from the gameplay they have shown.
They have to be giving us a release date right?
Ok, so what are we getting tomorrow? New trailer? Release Date? Do you even want to see more or not risk anything being ruined.
As with all things, in Naughty Dog I trust.
I’m fine with release date only, don’t need to see anymore.
I agree but almost positive I won't be able to resist watching whatever they post, unless they say its coming out next week or something, which they won't.
Game of the year
They are obviously being very selective with revealing what's going on and careful not to reveal the group's by name. No idea who's good and who's bad.
That last little scene, god damn man.
Tears. Not a bit ashamed.
Can't believe I will be playing it in less than 5 months.
Thank you for being patient with us. Very patient. Even though we’ve been eager to share more about The Last of Us Part II and tell you its release date, we wanted to wait until we were close to wrapping up production and we were confident in the date itself. We have a bunch of new stuff to share with you today… starting with the fact that on February 21, 2020 the Last of Us Part II can finally be in your hands.
We began working on this game over five years ago. It’s hard to describe the immense pressure of following up the first game. We know how much you love this world and its characters — especially Ellie and Joel. Believe me, we’re fans as well. We love them. Which is why we spent years crafting a game that we feel will do them justice, telling a nuanced story that deals with the core question: how far would you go to exact justice against the people that hurt the ones you love? It’s a highly emotional story with complex themes that befit the world of The Last of Us. What we realized pretty early on is that we were putting together Naughty Dog’s most ambitious and longest game in our 35 year history. To tell this kind of story the game needed to be massive. Without spoiling too much, at the top of this post you can watch the brand-new trailer that we debuted earlier today on State of Play, which just scratches the surface of what the game has in store.
The Last of Us Part II - Standard EditionThe Last of Us Part II - Special Edition
Alongside the trailer, we’re thrilled to reveal the various editions of the game, including The Last of Us Part II Standard Edition, Special Edition, Digital Deluxe Edition, Collector’s Edition, and Ellie Edition. In collaboration with PlayStation, we worked hard to make sure these versions would be truly special by including content and items drawn from the game and its characters.
Let’s kick things off with the Collector’s Edition, which includes a beautifully crafted 12” Ellie statue, a life-sized replica of Ellie’s bracelet, a custom SteelBook case, 48-page mini art book from Dark Horse, a set of six enamel pins, lithograph art print, and a set of five stickers. The Collector’s Edition also comes with a voucher for digital content, including a PS4 dynamic theme, a set of six PSN avatars, a digital soundtrack, and a digital version of the mini art book.
The Last of Us Part II - Collector's Edition
The Ellie Edition gives you all of the contents of the Collector’s Edition, plus a full-sized, fully functional recreation of Ellie’s backpack, an embroidered patch, and a 7” vinyl record featuring music from the original soundtrack. We’ll also have a Special Edition version that features the custom SteelBook case and all of the digital content found in the Ellie Edition and Collector’s Edition.
The Last of Us Part II - Ellie Edition
For those that prefer to go digital, we have the Digital Deluxe Edition, which includes all of the digital content outlined above, as well as a digital copy of the Standard Edition. If you pre-order either of these versions on PlayStation Store, you’ll instantly receive a The Last of Us Part II PSN avatar featuring Ellie’s tattoo. Additionally, if you pre-order any edition of the game, you’ll also receive two in-game unlocks at launch:
Ammo Capacity Upgrade: Instantly unlock an ammo capacity upgrade for Ellie’s pistol.
Crafting Training Manual: Instantly unlock the Crafting Training Manual, which provides access to new crafting recipes and upgrades.

Hold on. We’re not done. Today, journalists from all over the world are going hands-on with two new levels at a press event in Los Angeles–playing roughly three hours of the game! Thankfully, you won’t have to wait long to see and hear more about it. Their impressions and videos will be going live this Thursday, September 26 around 8:00am PT, or, as many fans of The Last of Us know it: Outbreak Day.
Inspired by the day the cordyceps fungus reached critical mass, every September 26 we celebrate The Last of Us community and we’ve got some exciting things planned! Be sure to check back here and follow Naughty Dog on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram for all the latest.
You are now months away from playing The Last of Us Part II. Your love for our games inspires and fuels us as we work hard and deliver an experience worthy of our fans. We are extremely proud of the game we’re crafting and cannot wait to share it with y’all.
Until then, endure and survive!
That trailer is amazing. Can’t wait

I want to know about the game play, but not too much. I hope they aren't putting out another 20 min of game play
I imagine games journos will be blasting out all sorts of #content
I’ve generally become numb to it all
I've watched very little Cyberpunk stuff because I want it to be new when I start playing
Collector’s Edition $169
Ellie Edition $229
Does anyone here buy that stuff? Legitimate question: why? I’m not trying to be shitty.
I’m also not sure I like the higher capacity for ammo and crafting upgrades. Defeats the main purpose of the game.
I didn't buy it, but some of the Fallout stuff was pretty damn cool
The best collectors edition by far was Mortal Kombat (I think MK9) that came with this. I still have it even though I never use my 360. I have always wanted to install it into a custom cabinet which is a project I will never get to.
I always contemplate getting special editions that come with figurines or something to start a collection, but I always go digital.
I’ve never got one, but if I were it would be this one. Not for the stuff but for the support I could show naughty dog for making great games.
Happy Outbreak Day
There's lots of stuff out there in the press after the event the other day, i'm trying to avoid most of it, but its being said that its not open world, which makes me happy.
Greg Miller is an ultimate fanboy, but he said he sees no way another game is GOY over this.
Same with Death Stranding
Cyberpunk has to give it a run. 2020 is stacked
This crew doesn’t care but Animal Crossing will probably be the top selling game of 2020
Breath of wild 2 possibly.
don't think that’s a 2020 game, maybe end of 2020 if we’re lucky
Clearly you guys are overlooking destiny's fall 2020 expansion
Next year might be crazy stacked for Game of the Year. Should make up for this year basically not having a solid game of the year candidate.
Delayed until May 29.
Want them to take as much time as required to make the game up to their standards. But, it's getting a little tiresome of every AAA game getting delayed. Stop rushing out release dates, just to generate buzz.
Naughty Dog and Sony Santa Monica are the two studios that have garnered enough trust with me that w/e delay they announce I'm 100% fine with.
Take as long as you need to make sure the product is as polished as you need it.
CD Projekt Red and Fromsoftware as well
And by soon we mean.....2023? (it doesn't say in the article I'm just guessing)
Fuck yes. This is the way video game and book adaptations should be done, series or nothing. Fuck a 2 hour movie
Ok lads, what do you want the show to be about (forgetting what they've already said will be included for a moment)? Re-telling of the game? Backstory only? Nothing to do with Ellie, just about Joel and Tess and the 20 years before the game?
I would love to see a re-telling of the story, but with a major focus on the stuff that happened off-screen, and some of the stuff that was just hinted at (Ish, stuff during the outbreak, etc). I don't know why people hate on re-telling the story of something, you have an audience of maybe 10-12 million people who played the game, the # of people who will potentially see the series could be 4 or 5 times that many. If you love the property, you want to see it succeed, this is how you grow it and bring new devotees. Tell the story for people who never played it, but add stuff for the hardcore fans.
I am not at all worried with Neil as the writer, he won't let anything bad happen to his baby.
From what I’ve gathered so far it’s gonna be the retelling of TLOU and TLOU2. It’s not just Neil that I’m excited for its Mazin as well. Chernobyl was amazing. One thing that does worry me is that it’s gonna be a series and I truly hope they don’t make attempts to bog it down if it becomes popular. Stick the outline and go full speed ahead. I really hope they have like a three season plan for it.
what is also interesting is that this is not the first adaptation we’re gonna see. Sony has started a television studio partnership with HBO and there’s apparently more to come.
Guy outlines it in this video
I’m also very much on the team of retelling the Joel and Ellie story. People deserve to experience this story and I think it does good things for gaming in general
yeah, that's what they are saying, retelling the first game with some stuff from Part 2. Now what will be interesting is if it goes 4 or 5 seasons, they will definitely get to do the full Part 2 story, but will they go into new original material like GoT did?
I'm excited for a God of War series too, would be amazing. Final Fantasy i could take or leave, if they did it I would like to see them go to one of the steampunk entries in the series. Metal Gear would be amazing too, not sure if Konami would be on board, but they could always do Syphon Filter if not. Resistance would be probably be my #1 want for a series after TLoU and GoW though, so much you could do with that story.
GoW is a better game than series imo. Could also be my interests in televison though.
I would love for season 1 to just be the retelling of the first game with some more depth to the fireflies. They would likey have to mess with the order of the story though at least in terms of when they introduce Ellie - which I would imagine would be earlier in the series than it was in the game.
I could see most of the pre-ellie stories (the games opening scene and up to early Tess interactions) could be handled in flashbacks or something.
Or you could still go out with the opening scene ... Just shorter and to the point.
My issue with GOW is that I don’t care to watch anything that has to do with the earlier games at all. I’d love to watch an adaptation of the new story but that story is in its infancy. It’s likely that if the do GOW it would be a completely different route than TLOU and would be something on its own (which I’m not sure interests me either).
I was honestly kind of disappointed when I found out that TLOU show is gonna be a series. Kind of hoped it would be a one off of each game (like watchmen)
I think a good way to end season one of TLOU would be in Colorado with Joel’s mortality in question. Start season two focused in on Ellie and move through the David scenario and wrap it up
I feel like God of War would need a huge budget to not look shitty.
