Personally couldn't make it past ep5 of TWD. The first 4 seasons of Lost I'd put up against any of those you listed besides Dark and Wire. But those are #1 and #3 on my all time (GOT is #2 not Lost). It really boils down to if you like the character building format of flashbacks with a side of mystery thriller drama. In 86 episodes of those first 4 seasons even the casual Lost fan will probably say there were only 2 bad episodes - Stranger in a strange land & Expose. Batting 84 for 86 is impressive for back when there were 20+ episode seasons. I heard about the show a few weeks before season 3 aired and think I watched the first 2 in 3 days, which included driving to Walmart to buy the season 2 DVD around 1am because of the way Season 1 ended.
I know there's a thread on it but just wanted to say in the official netflix thread that Gangs of London has been pretty damn good through 7 episodes. Gonna make me want to rewatch Peaky Blinders after
Lost was incredibly fun. Never really been replicated for me in terms of all the blogosphere stuff that went with it. Today it’s all podcasted I guess. I preferred to read with links to all the lore/literate etc.
Conversations at work when Lost was airing were all speculations about what was going on. It was great
So would it not be as good to watch LOST now and not have websites and people to talk to about each ep and wtf was going on? Never seen one episode and it seems like a big commitment
if the commitment to it is bothering you now, wait until you finish it and look back at all the time you wasted watching a garbage tv show
All you have to do to solve this problem is turn off the Television when you hear Jack say Spoiler WE HAVE TO GO BACK!!! And all the sudden it's a great TV show that ended when it was still peaking
it peaked after one season and then they went to the writers and said "holy shit this garbage tv show is a hit and now we have to write more. Let's start with explaining the polar bear"
Yikes. I don't know that I've ever had an irrational hate for something as strong as your feelings towards Lost. Definitely wasn't able to see Jacob Thought pushing the numbers was a joke Probably a big fan of Michael
Conversation does make me curious though for TMBers in general. What’s the most you’ve continued to watch of a show after you started hating it? I think GoT is the only one I finished out the season and only because it was the final season and a lot of time committed. Recently nipped True Blood and Foundation in the bud within 1-2 episodes of losing interest.
The cultural phenomenon of Lost and the weekly anticipation for episodes episodes coupled with discussions all week were unique. I am sure rewatching it in a vacuum a decade later is going to make it different
Haters and losers fail to understand the masterpiece of Lost. Yes, all 6 seasons. Yes, Nikki and Paolo. Yes, the final episode. All of it.
while the experience will be different, I bet Lost is still a very bingable show. the weekly overanalysis of every mystery and clue was so much fun, but it also created unrealistic expectations of the resolutions. without that weekly magnifying glass, the end of the show may be much more acceptable to people who just binge through it. it's still a fun show with good characters and mostly good writing (for network tv).
For some reason it felt like people at the time watched either 24 or Lost, not both. I watched 24 and then watched Lost a few years later
24 was the last network show I can remember that I could not miss for any reason. Monday nights at 9:00 pm. Wonder if it holds up at all?
Never watched Lost. My only memory was seeing how exited people were before a season finale, so I went and just picking a random character I found on IMDB and posted "can't believe so and so died!" as my FB status while having zero knowledge of what was going on and then a bunch of my friends being pissed at me when that person wound up dying in that episode.
There were cracks before, but the show really started to fall apart once Dany got to Westeros (minus a scene here and there).
Walking dead and currently Yellowstone. Lost is a totally fine tv show, the criticism it gets is way overblown imo
Made it through a few seasons and just moved on to other shows but Lost wasn’t bad at least not what I watched.
I think I've seen Seasons 1-5 or 6 of 24. It's just really easy to binge. I do hate that the further you go into the show the more problems arise from simple lack of communication in situations where people would absolutely tell you something IRL. Like in a horror movie when you see something ridiculous and decide not to say shit to anyone. Fucking hate that type of writing
Had a buddy in college that would do 24 in 24. Rented the DVDs and would plow through an entire season straight with no breaks. Idiotic and hilarious.
Freshman year of college my entire dorm would watch s2 of lost in the common room and I poo pood it then during the summer when I was home I got bored and started s1 and watched s1 in two days. Went to Target to get the DVD for s2 and basically did not sleep until I finished it. Great show and was super fun to discuss with people at the time. Ending was less than ideal but did not leave a bad taste in my mouth like GOT where I regretted ever getting invested in it (especially because I had read the books a few years before it became a show)
900 Days Without Anabel is the worse Netflix doc I’ve seen since the one about the Cecil Hotel. Save yourself the time.
It’s an interesting story, but the doc is really poorly done. You learn almost nothing about the main character, and basically every fact is repeated across multiple interviews.
Like 3 years late to the party but Arcane is fucking incredible. Got one more episode in S1. Woulda finished but my wife's work bestie recommended it to her and it's now on the Watch Together list
