What about that album makes it so important?
I still feel like I'm being pranked with the level of acclaim they are getting. Capacity was a really good record. Saw them live in 2017 and it was one of the single worst shows I've been to - maybe that spoiled them for me?
The two records released last year were ok - mild steps back from Capacity ... and all of a sudden they're the most acclaimed indie band of the moment. Unreal.
The Hold Steady have a decent claim at being the best band of the last 20 years IMO
I like 2-3 big thief songs. As usual for me, i get more interested when electric guitars are involved over pure acoustic folk
"Not" was the one song of theirs I was really into before the last couple days. That one of the ones you like?
"Interstate", "Open Desert" and "Jenni" are the ones I like according to what I bookmarked on Spotify
big thief goes hard
I guess I didn't realize they'd reached that level of acclaim. Admittedly, I'm not nearly as dialed into that type of thing as I was 5-10 years ago. I'm regularly late on getting into popular indie artists because of it.
I've been listening to them since Masterpiece came out and that's still my favorite album.
UFOF is definitely the worst.
ufof is whatever. releasing it and two hands in the same year...not many bands out there having better years imo.
Have they released a good album since 2008?
Why is it so highly rated? I listened to the other 2019 release last night and didn’t find it special, which is how I felt about masterpiece when I heard it in 2016. Maybe one day I will get this band.
Different strokes man.
I can't fucking stand LCD Soundsystem. Don't @ me.
Sadly, no. All the more recent records are trash. It's not remotely the same band
Every critic seemed to like UFOF over Two Hands and I didn’t understand it one bit.
No new/good releases today?
Healing Potpourri and Disheveled Cuss are pretty good. Seems like a weak week generally speaking though.
I fucking love Katie Malco's album from last week though. Highly recommend that and Momma.
Any new harder stuff? Punk? Seems like a while back someone mentioned a few I added.
You are correct to feel this way
Just got around to the Katie Malco last night. Goddamn it is good.
He's in between a couple of genre's so I'll throw him in here, but Ruston Kelly has a new record out in August. Two singles:
What is her sound?
It reminded me of Camp Cope's "How to Socialise and Make Friends" from a couple years ago. She's on the same label as Julien Baker, and there's some similarity there too, just with more edge musically.
this album is gonna be so solid
Gum Country - Talking to My Plants

her debut, Feels Like, is one of the best albums of the 2010s

If you ever get a chance to see this guy live, please go. He's quite entertaining.

This is just wonderful.
What a nice surprise. She's just the best.

chinese satellite and moon song are my two favorites. i'm not counting the ones she's already released.
Out of the stuff not released as singles, Savior Complex and I Know The End are my favs.
