My first thought was there was one song that was out and on this board a few years ago. Great song, I'm going to hunt for it.
Premise of the song was the mothers of the their missing presumably dead children in Mexico. Was a great tune. Anyhow, that's what this reminded me of.
Definitely not as pronounced just reminded me a bit of that when I initially listened,
I don't really hear much of their sound in the album as a whole tbh, I think I also did a pretty poor job of explaining it in my initial post too though. There are bits and pieces that remind me of other bands, like the industrial thrash moments in this song sounding like some NIN stuff, but the way they combine everything feels new to me. Also does a good job of keeping you on your toes throughout, unlike a lot of "stoner rock" which sounds nice for about 5 minutes before boring the hell out of me.
any fans of orville peck? Imagine roy orbison was making music today
What do you consider stoner rock?
heavy, gritty, repetitive riffs, I suppose
I saw this video and know some of you guys are fans. I thought it was pretty interesting.
Listened for about 60 seconds a few random spots and enjoyed the drums so will give it a spin.
feel like this represents Gizz in a nutshell, nothing in moderation
SIAP but I’m in love
Been listening to his latest album on and off for the past couple weeks. It’s intoxicating.
Big fan of this. Thanks for posting.

Did you guys like the new Stef chura record?
it was fine. Didn’t think it was anything special. Sounds like saddle creek made hop along listen to Karen O for a year straight and then record an album
not really sure if this qualifies for the thread, but I really enjoy this whole album
In all honesty I'm not totally sure how she got messes re-released. Urinal Cake records to saddle Creek is a path less traveled. I haven't heard the record but she has become a lot more comfortable on stage and the live show is improved with the new band.
Saw her in Boston Tuesday and the crowd called her back out, she played a 3 song encore the last of which by herself playing a new song, likely unplanned (many Detroit bands don't play encores to begin with). We need more women in rock. People are hungry for it.
glad to see another thread regular hit up a show at Great Scott
I still haven't listened to her new album
Wish I had been there one more day to catch Operators. Nice folks.
these dudes finally got picked up by a good label
Can't stop listening to this album. Not sure how I never came across them. I love their lead guitar so much.
The beginning of this song reminds me of Khruangbin.
think I'll check that album out
Sounds like Jim James. Also hear some of MMJ's guitar reverb.
Seeing Nick Murphy tonight at Brooklyn Bowl.
I’m curious as to how much old stuff he plays. Chet faker >>> nick murphy
Yes. Me too. Don’t love the new album. It’s just ok. You were actually responsible for getting me to go see him in Sydney 2 years ago.
I'll never see Chet Faker's name without thinking of his No Diggity cover.
that had to have been one of the better concert experiences. it was at the opera house wasn’t it?
Yes, so far he is putting on a great show. Perfect mix of new and old.
hipsterjoe very good combo of new and old. I enjoyed the new stuff much better live. It translates better. He sounded great. Super “soulful”. Only song he didn’t play that I love is Stop Me. The venue is really starting to annoy me lately though. Same experience every time. It’s become the Terminal 5 of Brooklyn. A bunch of entitled college kids who have no idea of concert etiquette. You’ll be standing on the floor for 45 minutes and then they push their way through, knock you over and then stand right in front of you after you and everyone around you established a location. Then they proceed to talk and then go crazy when the popular songs play.
I didn’t take this but exactly how he performed it at the show I went to...
I took these...
People treat Terminal 5 like a bar. I like to stand by the sound guy but at Terminal 5 there will be tons of people at the bar just drinking and talking the entire show as if there isn’t even a concert going on.
this is everywhere these days. It doesn’t help that terminal 5’s bar is in clear view of the stage, though
for any silver jews fans, david bermans new album as purple mountains is quite enjoyable
Tomorrow Mitski is playing a free show in a park down the road. Then Chris Cohen Monday night. Stoked
Nothing fires me up more than “Diane Young.”
If I was in a comma and that played I think I’d be up and ready for a fucking beer.
