King Gizzard and crew hanging at Amoeba Music on Haight right now. They were so fun last night. I didn't recognize a single song they played hah
GOAT record store
Really fun show. Very cool venue. Here is a sample.
they just dropped their thrash inspired album
new Blanck Mass, Oh Sees and King Gizzard
my goodness. Gonna be sleeping minimal amounts this weekend
Never been one for thrash, but this is just Gizzy enough to hit the spot. Keep cracking up at the early Hetfield vocals too, damn chameleons.
Feel like I'll need to stretch before taking on that Oh Sees album.
Man I love the sound on this Oh Sees album, but every track's just a monotonous bit of nothing. Could be decent background music I guess.
welcome to the last 47 oh sees records which takes you all the way back to *checks notes* 2017
plus their booking agent is a capital C c*nt
wouldn't say that describes their last album at all tbh
Haven't listened to new Oh Sees but I'm excited to do so Seeing them in a couple weeks and it's always a blast
I saw Sunflower Bean, Spoon, Cage the Elephant, and Beck tonight. I have no words for how much fun and good Cage is. I never saw them live before and had no idea he was that much of a nut. One of the best performers I have seen.
I don't love love their music for the most part, but from what I've seen in videos, their shows seem like a blast. I'd love to see them.
Yes, you really don’t need to love the music to enjoy it. He is just an entertainer. He had like 10 outfits on, one on top of the other and he peeled the, off throughout the show. Like a cross between Mick Jagger and Ozzy Osborne. He crowd surfed the entire stadium at the end of the show, which is no small feet, and wound up at the top of the stands.
this Monarch album's just really hitting the spot for me at the moment
I saw them about 5 years ago right after I moved to Arizona. I'm not a huge fan either but they put on a great show.
How was Sunflower Bean? Been wanting to see them. Guessing this was some kind of festival set up? I saw Spoon years back at one and wasn't impressed but I try not to hold that kind of set up against bands.
Sunflower Bean was way better than expected. Based on what they play on the radio they barely sound like a rock band, but they definitely are. They remind me of 80s bands like the Runaways. The lead singer has a lot of energy. They are from my wife’s town of Glen Head, NY. Here is a sample.
I like Spoons music as filler on the radio, but they are a boring live band. I have seen them twice now and this was better, but hard to really get into them and I think they were trying harder too. They are also pretty old (my age). Crazy that they have been around since 1993.
Saw Spoon 5 years ago live and they were pretty solid, but not amazing. It was a "hometown" show in Montreal for Arcade Fire and they had a lot more energy. There was some shitty DJ that opened up and his light show almost gave me a seizure. lol
was always kind of 'eh' about her other stuff, but this new jay som album is nice.
Ohhh yes need to KOP this
liked this new song by Allah Las
track is Polar Onion off an album called LAHS, due out October 11th via Mexican Summer
Sheer Mag with one more single before their second LP comes out this Friday
it's called The Killer
Super excited for this album.
Long Beard - Getting By
The Menzingers - America (You're Freaking Me Out)
Lower Dens album out soon, so this should be the last single released before it drops
It's called Galapagos
Twin Peaks - Ferry Song
I am guessing he made this connection at the Pioneer Works show that I saw him at. There were all kinds of light art there.
Great Grandpa - Mono no Aware
DIIV - Taker
This is different from their usual sound right? Thought I remembered DIIV being more of your typical indie beach music, I've liked these first two singles so far.
when you quit heroin your music will sound like 1997 sub pop
well good for them then
yeah this is a different sound. Zachary Cole Smith had some quotes a couple years ago where he said his second album trivialized addiction and what people deal with while trying to stay sober. So sounds like he is approaching this third album with a more enlightened perspective
"He says the DIIV music he has in the works is an attempt to more honestly tell his sobriety story than he did on Is the Is Are"
first album Oshin was amazing and one of my favorite dream pop albums ever. I wouldn't say there was anything typical about it. Not many bands can make an album as beautiful as that IMO. Came out during a time when I was pretty damn unhappy with my situation so whenever I hear Follow, I don't care where I am, I get a bit emotional
the second album, Is the Is Are, was similar in its dreaminess but had like 18 songs and some dragged on too long for me. I still listen to it regularly but I don't get in a trance like I do while listening to Oshin
new Sheer Mag album
I saw them live in a shithole in Brooklyn when they first came out. Was such a fun show. They used some of my footage in the video they made. I can't believe it is 7 years ago. They still feel like a new band to me.
I miss that place so much.
FUCK VICE. Never forget.
I've had so much fun on that street. seeing courtney barnett and twerps at glasslands is an experience I won't forget
New White Reaper track is called 1F
LP #3 out October 18th
This album will be fantastic, out later this week
Black Belt Eagle Scout - Run It To Ya
also this 'remix' is amazing
that was cool but that shouldn’t be called a remix lol
hence the " :p
