Depends on what you're looking for exactly.... Budva, Mostar, white sand Albanian beaches, obviously Croatian coast (plus the lakes), there are also famous beaches in Bulgaria and Romania that I've only ever read up on. I'm obviously a huge fan of the Balkans and read up on most places I haven't been to there.
Have you done google flights trick yet? Also, probably too cold for what you're looking for, but Asheville is awesome as you know.
Sorry for the spam fellas, I've not had much of a chance to get on the boards lately. That said, I didn't see this shitty list posted yet: http://www.businessinsider.com/under-the-radar-places-to-visit-in-the-word-2-2016-12 Not a huge fan of the buzzfeed style list infiltrating respectable websites these days.
I had a spicy chicken biscuit at Atlantas airport two weeks ago which I'm told doesn't exist at regular stores anymore. Sadly I dont have a CFA near me so Atlanta wins Thanks
Side story on Indy airport. Last year I was flying in and out of Indy on same day day trips for work. One time I arrived at the airport a good 2-3 hours before my boarding time of 7:00 pm. Was doing work off to the side like 2 gates over to kill time before boarding. Walk up a little before 7:00 to see that no-one is in line and find out that my flight DEPARTS at 7:00 pm, not boards at 7:00 pm. Caught a flight with a 2 hour lay over in Chicago and got home at like 2:00 am. Dumbest thing I have ever done, but I honestly couldn't help but just laugh at myself.
I wrote that in a weird way -- my apologies. I haven't actually been to Albania, only Serbia and Croatia from the list. I've asked people who've been and say it's amazing. I'd recommend reading up some travel blogs on it. Only one account is anecdotal, but the more you read the better a feel you'll get for the place.
Any recommendations for things to do near Jaco, Costa Rica? I'll be there for a few days. Hikes, trails, zip lining, beautiful beaches are what I'm hoping to see/do
Granted it was 8 years ago but I would avoid Jaco. We got our stuff stolen off the beach and every ten feet a nasty hooker would approach us at night. Spend more time in Monteverde and Manual Antonio.
Jaco is where the hotel is but I'm all for going to other places to spend the days. I saw that Manuel Antonio is nearby so that's in the plans so now I'm just looking for rainforest hikes, zip lining, etc and where they would be in close distance to Jaco
There's definitely people here that have been more recently than me (I was 22 fresh out of college). I'm sure it's different now and people have different experiences. We did ziplining/rainforest exploring in Monteverde. Place is so awesome.
Im still in Costa, just spent 5 days in esterillos and 2 in Jaco. Go down to playa Hermosa and spend a day at the bars there. I'd recommend an atv tour in Jaco too. Esterillos oeste is awesome, go down a fishing tour with chiri for 250 bucks, you'll crush it. Manuel antonio is great, don't hire a guide
Also a lot of cool visual vantage points between esterillos and Jaco on the coastal road I recommend stopping at
I'm going to do a write up with pictures and details and shit when I get home but I've gone Dec 27: jaco 28: esterillos oeste 29: esterillos oeste 30th: zip line and atv/esterillos oeste 31st: fishing in esterillos oeste/New years in jaco 1st: esterillos oeste/playa hermosa 2nd: playa hermosa/jaco 3rd: manuel antonio/San jose 4th: rafted the pacuare/San Jose
I went near there this summer. Hate Jaco, but Manuel Antonio is close by and I think it's great. There's also a place about 25 minutes away that has some legit world renown surf competitions as well, but I'd have to look up the name. Went to one of those said competitions and it was a fantastic experience.
Hey guys. Did I miss any more write ups? Also was there more on Peru than what I have in the op from 941Gator ? I have a friend going and looking for recs.
Last night/day in Prague we got a ton of snow, which was really awesome: I actually liked Prague third out of Berlin and Cope, it was just sooo damn touristy. That's not to say I didn't enjoy it, but it was definitely 3rd. I still had a great time with the crew at the hostel. 47 straight Hostel One Home is one of the best hostels I've ever stayed at. Free dinner every night, and great atmosphere. Lastly, spent the entire day yesterday being tourists with 2 girls from San Fran that I had met in Berlin. Had a great day, and because it was the last night in Prague for all of us, just went to their hotel and we drank wine in their room, was just going to be chill. One thing leads to another, but I can now check a threesome off my sexual bucket list. If I'm lying I'm dying. Will elaborate when back in the US. I've been walking on clouds since last night.
Even though I fly to the US in about 3 1/2 hours I still want to marry this bartender at Mikkeller in CPH. Her name is Lauren and she's from London Creep game on point
So the girls from last night aren't bombshells (certainly not on the level of the Israeli girl from a few nights ago, posted earlier ITT ), but you're lying if you'd say no to either of them. first chick is more attractive than the second, but they were both also really, really cool girls that also provided the bud. (1) left, (2) right, (3) left Spoiler Spoiler
BamaNug just catching up, but you tagged 3 different chicks in Prague!? Hostel One Home was great, wish I had longer than one night there.
It was a great hostel, and even made friends with lots of the staff---primarily because they all took us out and got just as drunk as everyone staying there. Like I said, I may have liked the city the least (in terms of being like an 8.5 rather than a 9.5), but had so much damn fun. I was there 4 nights, but the first night I went to sleep at like 8 to get some rest after Berlin, and the last night was with those girls. Prior to Prague, I had only hooked up with an American in Berlin, but no sex, so was getting antsy. My new years resolution was to stop being such a womanizer/man whore. Going great so far
Fucking 3 hour delay in CPH airport. Wouldve been nice if they sent an email, could've stayed in the city longer.
I've been to Prague and Berlin before 2 summers ago. How are those cities this time of year compared to similar cities in Europe that you've been to during the summer/more busy season?
In the air back to the states from Costa Rica. Leave for Croatia in like 3 months and 3 weeks but no one is counting
They were still very packed. Prague moreso than Berlin, but Berlin wasn't dead by any means. Cold as fuck, but if you layer it's alright. It was all in Celsius, but somewhere around like 25-35 degrees in both cities. My last night in Prague was miserably cold, 10-15 F. I dont necessarily mind cold weather, but I'd be lying if I said it wasn't a bit much at times. Won't deter me in the future, because the flights and accomodation are so much cheaper, so just prepare accordingly. But as far as the 'vibe,' there were plenty of ppl/tourists in both places. Both of my hostels in both cities were packed
Here's a shot looking into the crater of Villarica Volcan, the most active volcano in South America. Absolute bitch of a climb for someone who doesn't trek a ton, but worth it. We got really awesome weather so had some great views on the way up.
One of the volcanos in Costa Rica erupted Wednesday morning. Was spewing a shit load of smoke, pretty cool stuff. It was right next to the river we rafted
I'm sure some of you have used/use/seen duolingo but I thought others might be interested. It's a free language learning app that has 20+ languages available and is actually really fun. If you/your significant other are prepping for a trip that you've got a little bit for or just want to learn for future endeavors I highly recommend. You can create clubs/groups and track each other's progress and compete kind of Girlfriend is doing French, I'm doing Spanish, then we're going to do Vietnamese together. Wish they had Croatian but unfortunately that's not one
Agreed. Great free tool. Also if you get the chance to hear the founder Luis Von Ahn talk, do it. Brilliant guy.
I mean I don't need Spanish in Spanish speaking countries either, probably much much less than Croatian. But I'd enjoy doing it
The guy who took me fishing is posting badass pictures on Facebook and I want to kill myself because I'm about to do some school work and I have real work tomorrow
We were a lot further north in Guanacaste but did a day of zip lining and ATV'ing through the jungle. Absolutely amazing day. Hit this waterfall at one point. We got to jump off it into the river. If you can find something similar 100% do it.
