Arkadin You might already know about this but assuming you’re going to get a sim card while in Thailand you should download the app called “Grab” It’s sort of similar to Uber for motorbikes and taxis. They offer discounts in the app. The dutchess gets to work on a motorbike for 5 Baht fairly regularly. Also makes you feel a little more safe as all of the riders have to have the license Doesn’t work down south but it works in Bangkok and Chiang Mai
My grab got arrested driving me from the airport I had to wait a half hour while he bribed his way out Welcome to Thailand ohh
I know it's my privilege talking, but I've been working since May without missing more than a day--never worked this long without a multi-day vacation in my career. This week can't end soon enough.
from a publication I really trust, though I already have many of the product/needs meet, this is still a good article https://thewirecutter.com/reviews/travel-guide/
Going to Tulum in May, which was going to be our only real vacation next year. Found out today that wives best friend, who moved to London this summer, got engaged to some guy she met like 2 months ago and they’re going to get married end of next summer. He’s apparently from Lake Como so that’s where they’re going to do it. Wife will be in the wedding so I’ll take the excuse to do another trip. Probably can only pull off about 8 days. Was thinking a day in Milan, 2-3 in Lake Como and doing one more city. Was considering flying into Barcelona and then coming home through Milan.
I feel comfortable saying anyone single should get to medellin...like tomorrow This is stupid. Even the ugly discount hookers are 8s And the city is lit on a Wednesday
It has the prettiest women I’ve seen in The world, other than Opium in Barcelona. Disclaimer, haven’t been to Rio. I really love Hispanic chicks though
Would 2 weeks in Europe/5 cities/$3k including flight be feasible or am I severely underestimating on time/money? Stay in hostels and bus between cities. Kinda want to build around London and Amsterdam and throw in a few other places that make sense geographically
Yep :foreveralone: Never done it before but don't really mind the idea. It is affecting where I want to visit though. Paranoia makes me want to stick with very Western friendly places
Subscribe to scott's cheap flights like I showed you the other night and hop over to Europe for 500 or less
Discomfort is good for personal growth. Push yourself. Also wherever you go in Europe will have plenty of gringos speaking English.
Yeah, I wouldn't just stick to the area around UK because of a comfort zone thing. Anywhere you'd want to go in Europe would be fine
Hostelworld.com. Their ratings are very reliable. Also if you ask in here people usually have some recs
Girlfriend and I booked flights yesterday for Italy in March. Booking through United you can't select seats on the partner operated flights so I had to contact both Swiss and Austrian airlines directly. No wonder European airlines rate so highly, super helpful customer service and very easy to deal with
I've spent time here in the past but I tend to stay away when I don't have a trip coming up bc jealousy
You can search and book through here: https://www.booking.com/?aid=1192820 Full disclosure that's an affiliate link where I get part of the commission.
If I'm picking 3 of these to go with London/Amsterdam where should I go: Lisbon Madrid Barcelona Paris Florence Vienna Dublin Edinburgh Munich Hamburg Ljubljana Zagreb I wanna have drinks and such but going for more of a cultural than party trip. Suggestions not on the list welcome too. Have been to Prague, Budapest, Berlin, Bilbao, San Sebastian, Pau
I think everyone should go to Zagreb but that's a long way from london/Amsterdam. Imagine flights are cheap though
Edinburgh and the Highlands is awesome. Dublin is fun but I wouldn't do it as a standalone, really need to get out of there and see some other parts of Ireland.
Yeah I'd do up to about 8 hours on a bus but that's it. Don't mind spending some time in transit bc it gives you a chance to see some scenery and collect thoughts but definitely don't want to waste too much of my two weeks between places. I did Prague --> Berlin and Prague --> Budapest and both of those were nice bus trips
You've mentioned the bus a few times. Not trying to be sarcastic but have you thought about trains or the cheap flight options to the other places?
I can't tell you where to go for sure since I've only done half but I will say that you're a crazy person if you pick either Madrid or Lisbon on that list I guess I'm comfortable saying Barca and Paris are top three on there but that's me assuming you're going in the summer
I know about the cheap Euro airlines but haven't looked into trains. Bus was considered the move when I was there before so that's what I'm familiar with but I guess the best option depends on where you're traveling
Is Porto better than Lisbon? Or is Portugal just not super appealing overall? Madrid is mainly bc I'm a big art guy and I'd love to go to the Prado and the Reina. But idk exactly what else there is to do there
