So I invested in a bunch of gold stickers when they were at their lowest. Seems like I should have just invested in a bunch of capsules since those have gone from $0.25 to $0.55 in one day already.

i've been reading a bit about the prevalence of dust2 cheating in prime. apparently the fact that everyone knows the fact and you can shoot through half of it makes it a lot easier to cheat. who would have known?

maybe i shouldn't play this map anymore. i dont even like it very much.

Yeah I don't even know how to play dust2 since it's never been in my queue. I don't think it's about hiding cheating, it just the common map that leads to all the worst people.

Man I'm just watching the sticker capsules continue to go up in price. Could have bought like $300 of them if I knew they would x4 your money in a week, then buy a dragon lore...

that makes me sad, because i bought like 10 of them and opened them. i need to be smarter about it next time

got a foil shox and markeloff, as well as a few cloud9 ones, but i didn't realize the capsules themselves were the money.

i need to find a crew to run with.

i just played a random matchfinder game that went ~22 rounds and i was team-flashed at least 6 times that directly lead to my death. a team-flash here and there is whatever, but i started counting when it got out of hand.

    i hate this game.

Been playing since 99 or 00. First thing to go is the Awp flick but it comes back. Spray is usually ok but I have to actively remind myself not to spray when I do come back.

We were down like 14-12 on D2 and I was like 15-19 and the next round was an eco. I got a deagle and proceeded to go quad on that eco, ace, and triple the next 3 rounds. We won 16-14 and I ended up going like 28-20. Not great, but it's a lot of fun playing in a bubble in those rounds where you peek with confidence and hit shots.

Gamesense is the thing for me that never goes and I'm able to stay competitive in the middle ranks after long breaks because of that and movement.

    My aim is average.

Funny, I just got my 5 year veteran coin this week. There was literally at least a 4 year gap between me playing the game a tiny bit when it was new to last December when I finally decided to get into CS. I grew up on CoD1 & 2 which at the time was close to CS with a hardcore PC comp scene so I was always a little hardheaded about switching to CS. Of course now CS is the only game which even comes close to the unadulterated pure competitive shooter. It could really use another similar game to push Valve.

Agree. I played some CoD4 on PC because it wasn't ported and was made for PC and was naturally good at it because of CS. It was flash in the pan as has been any other FPS.

he was a pretty damn good CS player, especially within the NA scene. maybe not the greatest gamesense, but his aim and movement were, imo, second to only one other player in NA (swag)

you can really see how his CS skill translates over to PUBG.

He was a support player on c9. NA CS lags behind Eurasia and Brazil but that doesn’t mean they didn’t compete at the top level. He was replaced by some younger up and comers. In comparison to the top 8 teams in the world he is average. In comparison to all people he is on the top .1 percent.

He played different roles for C9. He was at his best as an entry fragger which he played at the end of his time there. He stepped away because he wanted to be a streamer. He’s always played and enjoyed playing a lot of different games. I’ve watched his stream for years and he played Rust and tons of other FPS games before he blew up.

His aim and ability to be good at FPS games is what is so impressive. He can just pick up a game and be really good. He was always good at CS and was known for awhile to be an onliner but he had plenty of good LAN results to go with the bad.

NA CS has always lagged behind the rest of the world. That’s primarily due to the sheer size of our country. Europe teams play on predominantly LAN pings all the time. It helps prepare you for the difference between online and not. While the difference is much less than it used to be, it’s still a huge deal.

Shroud’s talent is insane though. He usually top frags when he returns to do a rank S pug after being away a while. He’s just not driven and obsessive in that way. He likes to play games, not play the same game all the time like Stewie or Swag.

Rush and Tarik aren’t up and comers either. They won ELEAGUE S2 with Optic and have been in the NA scene a long time.

he is proof that talent alone can carry someone to success on twitch. he is pretty damn boring but so fun to watch.

give doc or tim his skills and no one else would ever have money

You’re right. He’s so boring. It used to be so much worse. He’s gotten a lot better and is trying to hype his streams some. It’s cringey but he makes so much money he doesn’t care. He’s cut into Summit’s followers more than anyone else but they’re friends so it’s whatever.

For some context though, there is a de facto top 20 player list that comes out for CS each year from HLTV and he hasn't ever even been in the discussion. His aim is top tier, but he was more or less just an average pro. He wouldn't have even made a top 50 list if that existed in the last couple years of his pro play.

Hard to say, but when he played there were only 3 top NA teams (ignoring Brazil which actually played in the NA region). So he likely falls around that 13-20 slot. Right now is the most competitive it's ever been though, so young talent will continue to rise.

I don't think he touches that. Players undoubtedly above him:
    Elige
    Stewie
    Swag
    Autimatic
    Twistt

... bit of a gap, but still would be chosen for a team before him:

    skadoodle
    Rush
    JDM
    tarik
    stanislaw
    nitro
    naf

Players that are probably better than him:
    Sick
    dephh
    yay
    brehze
    cerq

    debatable newcomers:
    wardell
    ryx

I think he was likely around 15 and at best near NAF at 12. But he was on his way down when he left and all of these guys likely have a brighter future than he would have.

Compared to today, yes. But when he hit the scene, there’s a reason he went to C9. He was top 10 NA in his prime. He’s still picked 1st in the most recent rank s games I’ve seen played. Twist is good but wasn’t what he is today back then.

Yep I'm trying to rank him based on his 2017 run. If you rank the rest of the top 10 back when shroud was in it you get a lot of washed up players: Hiko, Adren, n0thing, freak, sgares, etc. I would argue those players didn't get worse, but the scene got more competitive and talented.

    Pretty big update out:

Hyrda is done, shuffle of all the maps, and Prime is now gone for Trust Factor. The trust factor actually sounds awesome, Valve will use machine learning to group people who ruins games together. Might take some time to tweak but I bet in the end we end up enjoying more matches than having to deal with shit.
