Watched the YouTube version of the Midnight Boys pod about Penguin and Agatha. Charles is the worst and I enjoy that they treat him as such. If you watch that version, they do some pretty funny close ups of him being mad that the other three liked The Penguin and just brooding in his chair.
this got me good. I thought drunk House would be the one to shit all over the fawning coverage This was like a vintage dunk from Vince Carter on the Hawks.
Not Ringer related, but Belichick and Lombardi have a video that popped into my YouTube algorithm breaking down college QBs for next year's draft, which seems like an odd thing for someone who is hoping to get a HC job next season to do.
On Big Picture, Sean got so mad at Chris and Chris just raised it 2 levels and it was hilarious. Chris went racecar in the red immediately and Sean was all, “I wanted you to fuck with Amanda and now the game is ruined!” It got weird.
Can you explain this a tad more? I like Sean on a rewatchable but it’s a little too much for me on big picture unless I really love the category. Van, Sean, Shea, and CR talking about movies would be a good pod. Bill is kind of like a very unnecessary moderator on most episodes, and my slamming of his work is more sincere as time goes on. Unrelated, these guys must be gooned up about Den of Thieves 2!
They did a Pitt/Clooney movie draft. Sean is weirdly competitive sometimes and got legit mad that Chris and Amanda's husband didn't take Moneyball or Ocean's 12, which are two of Amanda's favorite movies to screw her draft (she had the 4th and 5th picks in the snake draft). And then Chris basically just said fuck you and took Burn After Reading with his next pick just to fuck with Sean more because he was already mad and to take another movie he wanted. It was weird. Especially with Amanda's husband there, who said "you guys want me to leave for a bit?" several times.
its weird that the big picture (and amanda in particular) are over the top with their praise of pitt but will not mention the allegations of abuse against him
They did a movie draft on Pitt and Clooney movies, with Sean, Chris, Amanda and Zack Barron. Chris drafted Once Upon A Time in Hollywood 3rd and Sean got mad CR didn’t steal Moneyball or Ocean’s 12 from Amanda. Chris immediately raised it three notches about Sean being mad. It was funny in the end. And I was mowing my lawn and half paying attention
Thank you both. I did begin listening to this pod and caught — who must’ve been her husband — say Clooney, Pitt, and maybe someone else and notably left off Denzel. After that someone mentioned Denzel, but I found the omission super strange for a podcast about movies as it’s glaring.
Can you imagine the bratty, hissy fit Amanda would have thrown if Chris had taken it? She’s far more annoying than Sean.
Skipped to life advice on Ryen’s Thursday pod and can’t place it so far but one of Kyle and Steve are fucking mouth breathing in the background and it’s bugging me. Sounds like they’re almost snickering at Ryen. I think it’s Kyle’s nasally voice — go to an ENT what is this open mic night.
Bill and Sal more or less said Malik Nabers is a cross between tyreek hill and Calvin Johnson. I’m begging people to just be normal.
Sal was significantly off on so many lines this week one must really question his gambling acumen. Would be weird if he had a whole show on sports gambling!
Just like this thread, if you hate something so much why watch/listen. Every pod is just shitting on everything. Blows my mind how everything sucks to everyone. The Carson Steele thing. His sister booking a wedding venue out and they said “hey I could be on the chiefs.” A un drafted running back being worried about being on Sunday night football.
They definitely don't embrace football for the sake of football. I cherish every moment, even the shitty football
I agree. I just don’t understand the lead up of NFL then just hating every moment of it. But everything is viewed through a fantasy/gambling lens. I will admit 2 years ago going from 3 fantasy teams to one has increased my enjoyment so much. My son is falling into the trap currently. Has his 1st team with his buddies and was worried about Dobbins more than the Steelers. I took his phone away for the game and told him to stop obsessing and enjoy your team.
I just love football and if I win a few bets or fantasy weeks (lol, not this year), than great. But football is paramount.
I’ve been playing fantasy football for almost 30 years so the vast majority of my football fandom has been through the lens of fantasy, especially without teams in LA for so many of those years
I am in zero fantasy leagues this year for the first time of my adult life and it is an amazing feeling. I was in four as recently as five years ago and I could never go back to those days.
Listening to Russillo from Friday and Willie Colon said in regards to Rodgers and Jets looking competent “that felt like a blowjob on Easter Sunday”. Didn’t expect to hear that
on a semi-related sidenote, Amanda and Sean look like siblings to me which kinda made that whole thing even funnier to me
The more unhinged pod was the speak no evil pod (which was a good and funny pod) but resulted in them over sharing a lot and making Amanda seem pretty insane on a day to day basis. They are definitely odd birds.
Just started listening to the athletic pod and they were like this week was awesome!! So wild listening to the opposite takes.
The reason people seek out content from mays, tice, Mina, Solak, etc is because they like football in all its different forms
Bill and Sal enjoy the NFL through the prism of being diehard fans of their teams, fantasy football, and gambling, in some order, before just loving football. It is why do a pod called Guess The Lines rather than Here Is Football Analysis. They’re entertainment only, not informational.
As long as the games are competitive and not all blowouts I don't really care if the QBs are throwing for 400 yards or 200 yards for the most part. Who gives a fuck about a stat-line while you're watching Rams-Niners for instance?
Friendly reminder as you watch MNF that Steven Ruiz has Trevor Lawrence and his 51% comp rate and 1 TD through 2.25 games as #7 in the league.
bill loves to do nothing more than yell COACHING! when he gets something wrong about a football game.
I think it's more that he's dumb enough to think he can mentally will the Bills into a losing season despite the fact they have a top 3 QB
every year after the Bills win 10+ games: "You know Sal I guess Allen is just one of those guys that you plug in for 10, 11 wins every year" the following pre-season: "Tell me why I'm supposed to believe in the Bills again? Have you looked at their roster??"
I do too but no way am I listening to The Over The Top pod A trucker arm wrestling for the custody of his kid didn't move the needle for me back then and it still doesn't 37 years later
Me, too. Kyle usually comes prepared. Also, this adds Over the Top to the movies that have been featured on both The Rewatchables and How Did This Get Made, along with Road House, Bloodsport, Face/Off and Con Air.
athletic reported that espn was paying him 1m/year. that seems pretty wild. i'm sure he will be at the ringer soon. probably not a coincidence that he did BS pod a week or two ago
There will be decades of research done on all the stupid shit espn has done over the last decade. Not just talking Lowe.
