The ISO:FT forum on BA has gotten worse over the last year. Everyone now just tries to trade up and "win" the trade. It's always FT: my new local beer release ISO: Rare, Cantillon, BA DL, Hill Farmstead
I haven't used the BA forums for a long time. The only reason I used them last year was for a local tasting group but that went downhill and I haven't used them since.
Used it for a trade over year ago and it sucked. I needed a 09 BCBS Bomber for a tasting. I got it but the guy I dealt with was an asshat.
Anyone familiar with Syracuse? I'm gonna be on assignment there for 6 weeks starting next week. Recommendations on bars, breweries, and stores would be great.
Atl peeps Greens on Buford and Ponce both just got there Hop Slam shipments in. Limit of two sixers per person. they have some left after work for me.
Has this been posted yet? Basically King Henry in 12oz bottles with larger distribution this fall http://mybeerbuzz.blogspot.com/2013/01/goose-island-bourbon-county-barleywine.html
On lunch break now been making calls around Grecenville/Cola and nobody has any useful info...except Pineh Grove Greens guy said to check back Friday that's all he said so who knows. Last year Greenville got it on a Thurs then Cola got it on Fri
With Atlanta getting theirs today I just have a feeling Greenville could be tomorrow. Last year they all played dumb and boom it dropped the next day
Well by trading up I mean people trying to trade easy to get beer for harder to get beer. The new users on BA see that St Bernardus is a 99 rated beer and think it's worth something in the trading forums. It's not. And now it's evolved into this whole beer-as-currency system where users have to discuss and evaluate the bottle count, bottle limits per person, price, wants to gots ratio, BA rating, etc. to create this complicated system of how much a beer is "worth". It's gotten way out of hand.
I don't care how rare it is. I'll trade anything & not expect more than I paid for it. I'm not a hoarder & like to share my goodies
Yeah just trade good beer for good beer and everyone is happy. Although it is good to be aware of what beers are locals and what beers are limited. I wouldn't try to ask for a Dark Lord with Jai Alai, but I'm sure a Hunahpu would get it done.
Got the second to last one of this: Also grabbed a 2013 Bigfoot and can't wait to vertical it with a 12. Anybody got an 11 that they would like to trade?
dude bros I don't get it. the Goose Island Bourbon Country taste like Cafe Patron to me. I'm hurting right now
Did you finish it? End up enjoying it any more? I had one of mine last night and it was scrumtrulescent.
For all you Hopslam fans Full Article: http://appellationbeer.com/bells-hopslam-described-catty-alert/
basic haul this morning...best of all, she rang up the cafe's at .99 cents and 6.00 respectively rather than 6.99 a piece.
Whenever our stores get the northern hemisphere I always grab one.....I love wet hopped ale's and for 3.99 a bottle, cant beat it
I drink almost all of my stouts at whatever temperature they're at in my basement. Seems to work perfectly.
Has anyone had the Foothills bourbon barrel aged people's porter? They're doing growler fills tonight. Thinking about picking some up for the weekend.
Saw where Vinter Wine Mart got more Sucks in this week don't know if that's where you got it or not. Also was there a decent amount of Big Bad Baptist on the shelf there? Hoping to head up next week. Still no Hopslam here either
Went over to a buddy's house last night to help him start some homebrewing, and his brother in law was over there. I brought over my BCBCS and a Hopslam. His BIL asks what I brought, so I showed him both bottles and he points to Hopslam and says "It's just a name. There's nothing special about it" I then proceeded to give him the "are you fucking kidding me?" look that marcus just so kindly displayed above.
Wish I had a basement. I would convert it into a beer cellar. Sadly the water table is too high down here so basements just flood.
I think I've told this story before, but it's been awhile. Your story reminds me of this douchebag try too hard that is my parents' neighbor. He said something along the lines of "yeah, I've tried all of the craft beers and they're so overhyped. I really like my Stella, into matter what, it's what I always come back to ". My dad and his buddies just yao'd the shit out of him and never went to a party as his place again.
It's good not great. People's Porter is decent but foothills has a great Barrel program and it helps it a lot.
