Enjoying a Backwoods Bastard bomber. Hopefully can come across some CBS. It was the second, and last, beer I have ever stood in line for when it came out 6 or whatever years ago. I was about 3 people from a bottle and realized standing in line for beer was not worth the effort.
I actually never have done it but that's mostly due to being in Oklahoma where that just started happening a few months ago
I feel like these bigger BBA stouts have reached the point of over saturation. I’m not complaining because the dark adjunct high alcohol goodness is still my favorite style, but the days of waiting in line for the name brands is over (in Atlanta at least). Without trying, I’ve scored the following in the last two weeks: 12x BCBCS 2x CBS 4x Black Note 4x BBA Ten Fidy 6x Prairie Noir variants 4x Prairie Bourbon Paradise Is the market just flooded now? All of these beers were impossible to get a few years ago.
Had some Black Note in Tucson three weeks ago. Had a draft, it was good. Saw a 4-pack at Whole Foods last week. $28? gtfo Grabbed a 4-pack of KBS off the shelf here weeks after it came out. I think you're right on. And I don't think that's a bad thing.
Split a bottle of CBS with my uncle before the Clemson game last night. Only had it once before that on draft, and it was delicious
Drinking it now. They are both 2 months. I don't sweat that stuff, call me a heathen all you want. I try to make sure I drink the IPAs within 3 months, but I think some are better sitting in a can after some time, tbh. TrimTab from Bham did a double NEIPA in October. WE went to the release and got some. The can I let sit for a month was better than the freshest I had that weekend. JMO, I know a lot of people think differently.
^That said, I would have drank them sooner, my dickhead friend got them for me and then held on to them for 3+ weeks before he gave them to another friend that was able to meet up with me.
Brewery opened in my hometown of Easton, PA. Owner has brewed with Cantillon and Grimm. This is a mosaic hopped ipa with pinapple, vanilla bean and milk sugar
tips on how one would go about shipping beer to their secret santa? packing, shipping etc? don't know all the rules/regulations. i'd probably be shipping it with other things in the box too.
NO USPS - illegal to ship alcohol using usps. I use Fedex over UPS - they don't ask questions about what's inside, etc. If a bottle breaks, they'll probably chuck the package but not do anything beyodn that. Packaging - bubblewrap / airpacks / etc. Make sure bottles/cans are wrapped in plastic bags that won't leak out in case the bottle/cans pop open. This is a decent guide - https://lifehacker.com/how-to-mail-beer-across-the-country-like-a-pro-1795988143 http://thebeerexchange.io/how-to-package-and-ship-beer.html
I just use a ton of bubble wrap and make sure it's packed tightly so that it won't move around a lot in the box. There are special bottle shippers you can buy but if you're packing other stuff in the box sounds like that wouldn't work. I usually write fragile on the box and have never had any issues. It's not necessarily illegal but is more just frowned upon so I don't say that it's beer if they ask. I also always use FedEx or UPS, I believe USPS is where people have had issues with legality Edit: or see above
This is all good info but I have used USPS Flat Rate boxes and had zero issues. That said, I think FedEx has some kind of flat rate option now, right?
