Yeah I have to keep it super low transparency otherwise it’s distracting as shit for me. Just got that damn Mondesi card I get cornholed with repeatedly online. Need to work on the Tatis face card as well. Still not locked in on a 2B yet. Anyone have someone they like? I also really wish they did something about the ability to just keep running out SP online. It’s just dumb. Would be nice to at least have the option mutually agree upon that in a menu with a simple setting. Or maybe make it once you reach a certain level like the World Series, or the one before it, then it kicks in. Played a game this morning and faced Oswalt, Snell, Morton and Kluber.
I use the PCI setting, but I very rarely actually try to move it to the ball when I swing. Seems like it just messes me up. Some of the guys I see play online are insane they get it to the spot every time. Mondesi card is one of my favorites, he’s currently my starting SS. I have 81ovr Tatis Jr at 2B and love his card, so I’m currently trying to unlock his diamond card offline but it’ll take a little bit to do unless I just play like a full day. SP thing is so dumb, I think it’s new this year because of the addition of the stamina bars. Should have to use like 5 (or all) RPs before bringing another SP in.
On DD most of my guys are good enough the PCI is pretty big so I’d say 90% of the time I just leave it in the middle and it covers most of the zone anyways. If there’s a guy who’s pretty predictable I’ll try to guess the spot and hope for the best. I feel like the times I guess wrong make a way more negative impact than just leaving it somewhat where it starts.
I move it every time. I actually scored 15 runs in two games this morning, best I’ve ever done. One guy was stacked with 95 and over and I had 6 golds, Realmuto and Didi for bats. Also had Paddack pitching, he raged, beaned me. I’m not saying I am shit, probably just played two window lickers, but getting better tracking. I got a ton of shit done that for player programs and completed all my dailies.
I was thinking while I am grinding the MTO offline for Tatis Jr., to use that as a chance to practice the PCI stuff. That way it’s not a total disaster on DD games.
Yeah I watched a few things and picked up some stuff that works. My natural tendency is to always pull down. Offline you can recover easily but online you’ll get murdered. Getting my reps in via conquest. Still on the fucking Mays map. 4 more territories to go.
Some pretty solid choices for the 4th inning IMO: http://www.sportsgamersonline.com/mlb-the-show-20-4th-inning-program-available-now-details-here/
Also read that the price is dropping for the game Monday which leads a lot of people to believe there will be a stub sale. I don’t know how often this shit gets speculated, just saying I read the same thing last week.
By stats, both should be very good. I’m going for Felix because of that stupid sinker and I’ve already got MVP Posey.
I have Bench and Sanchez so doubt I get Torre unless he's a monster. Will try for Felix. Fuck Ellsbury.
Felix looks legit, but I will probably go with Torre because I need a catcher. I’m close to unlocking 99 Reggie too.
I had no idea how to beat it, but there’s usually YouTube tutorials. The mode is offline and somewhat boring, but it’s an easy way to get a chunk of program points.
Nice going to try and make a dent in that today. I’d read on reddit a few weeks back people felt like they made showdown a lot more obtainable.
Best way I’ve found is to conquer all the territory first. Just keep simulating when you have proper attack numbers. Once you surrounded everyone then load up and just play them on rookie. It took me 15 minutes tops to surround all territories last night. I only managed two games then I started losing (On rookie) which translated into I drank away that portion of my brain for the evening. Also helps if you can get a pitcher with a quick delivery. I have a Glasnow from player of the month thing. I can easy get through their bats in under a minute.
I bum rushed the bases last night, if you steal 3 fans from the Mariners on the first turn, you’ll have enough of an edge to play the games on Veteran. Also dblplay1212 the opponent starts whichever slot you start (based on rankings). Your 4 and 5 are still going to be diamonds, and then you’ll be facing the opponents 4/5, who are obviously usually shitty.
Also iirc when you play conquest use one of your 4-5th starters and you’ll face that teams same starter.
Might be time to just zone out to The Show and hide out in my basement the rest of the day. Might be a nice distraction even if I get no hit by Kluber haha
Is that still supposed to happen tomorrow? You just bought some cards assuming you can sell for more?
I heard tomorrow or the 3rd, something like that. Bought some sure things. Low diamonds that I can’t lose anything on. Kershaws for 5200, Alonsos for 5100, Mookie for 8500, a bunch of Giles for low 2000 and still looking. All told about 50k, some other assorted cards but those have the most volume for me.
Idea is cards you won’t lose anything on. Most I could possibly lose on a diamond is a few hundred bucks. But idea is if people are buying the Noah and Cody both those diamonds go up by proxy. Also pulled all my other diamonds off the market until this hits, if it does. If it doesn’t I’ll just relist by the end of the week. Also I’ve flipped that Giles more times than I can tell you. It’s almost a sure $1000 gain even with tax.
With the exception of playing games against TMBers and one shitty MTO experience to grind team affinity points, I’ve exclusively played Diamond Dynasty...sorry to offer nothing to that question (but I’m enjoying the shit out of DD, having not picked this game up in almost a decade).
Whatever you do, don’t do the national conquest map You end up having to win 30 games, many against the same teams over and over and the rewards - a willie mays card that can’t hit righties - aren’t worth it
Counterpoint: that map is great for grinding out dailies/program requirements that require you to use part of your roster that would never see action in a ranked game.
the platoon players seem pretty worthless to me since DD doesn't tell you which SP you're facing. If someone isn't at least decent vs both L and R, no point in starting them
True. Maybe I wouldn't have hated it if I'd just played a few games per day for the dailies, instead of playing it exclusively to finish as quickly as possible
One thing I’ll give credit to the developers is they seem to take criticism and adjust the game frequently. The first group of conquest maps were all pretty terrible, and since then they’ve been a lot more obtainable or have better rewards. Same thing with Showdown, it’s a cool game mode but was near impossible at first and it seems they’ve loosened it up a bit. Between that and the fact you can field a competitive DD team for free, I give this group a lot of credit.
That's the biggest thing. The last couple years it was impossible to accumulate a good DD team for free unless you killed in the Battle Royale matchups.
Does anyone have the 99 Reggie Jackson? My plan was to unlock him with XP soon, so take Torre in 4th Inning...but the more I use Ellsbury in showdown the more I like his card due to the speed/power combo. Then I have a chance to get Posey with XP. So basically I’d be going with Torre/Jackson or Jacoby/Posey. Anyone have any of these cards?
Yeah absolutely. It’s unlimited. It’s why you’ll see big chunks of numbers on a certain card. edit: chunks of numbers on certain stub bids. like 45 orders for Gregory Polanco @ 30 stubs. If they get them all they’ll list them all at the same time for say 45 sell orders for him at 110 stubs.
My bad, what I mean is can I make like 10 orders on a card at once. Or do I have to create them one by one?
That’s what I figured. I realized last night there’s a “rivals exchange” as part of the Team Affinity, so instead of playing a full march to October I’m trying to complete that to unlock Tatis Jr. It will be way faster, but still tedious as I’m basically buying the same card 25x to exchange, and I think I have to do it three times lol
I’ve gotten through a few with just innings. I have the Mays map open again and stack where I can. They add up pretty quick. I wrote down the most efficient way to get there cost wise per trade in value but I threw it out last night. It’s a bit ridiculous, I started but I’d rather play games. I’m already playing in the market like 2 hours a day or more depending on work.
Yeah, I think because I have 130K stubs as of now I’m not going to mess with the market...just keep grinding the missions for DD programs. Only reason I’m doing this is that Tatis Jr gold card is awesome so I’d imagine the diamond is even better. If I did the math right it will end up costing me like 8,000 stubs which is good for a high diamond I can hit with.
