Damn. That sucks. But I’ll just be pizza’ing around Friday anyways so hopefully Friday night snowfall will be good for the next couple days. im also going on a bachelor party so I guess we’ll just drink.
I'm going to Aspen tomorrow and praying like hell to at least get a little dust on crust Friday night/Saturday morning
did Breck Wednesday - was great despite a little wind and getting stuck on a lift for 30 minutes on Peak 7.
Storms finally appear to be coming into Colorado starting this weekend and through the next few weeks, let’s goooo. Next weekend might be a wild one.
Need it. Eldora moguls had rocks sticking out last weekend. Chance of snow at my house just skyrocketed for Monday-Wednesday next week.
I'm actually back snowboarding after two weeks from the day I fractured part of my pubic bone. I bought a two day pass to Mt. Bachelor before my injury and really didn't want to eat over $200. The prescription ibuprofen really helps. I'm sore still but there's finally been a ton of snow the past week that everything was powdery soft today.
Had 5 days at winter park this last week with customers. For as warm and limited snow there was we were still able to find some good tree runs at Mary Jane and all in all felt like a good week of spring skiing to start February. More soft snow than ice and exposure so I’ll take it. Entertained 30 different customers over the week and walked away with one guy having a full blown panic attack, and another with an acl/mcl. I’ll call it a success all told.
Survived my first day skiing (at Keystone). Ate shit several times but finished on some positives. Lotta room to grow and some great bruises, but a really fun day.
did 3 days at Monarch; despite it's size and the slow lifts, I will never not have fun there. even with little snow and some icy runs, it's a fun time. would highly recommend for anyone with kids or learning to ski.
Copper tomorrow. Winter Park/Copper on Monday. Buddy has a house in Avon so will be at Beaver Creek next weekend. Just started skiing my first blues so excited for this.
Plan was to head out for Eldora but my wife is still asleep so no idea if we’ll go. If not, probably try again tomorrow.
Every time I do a box jump or one legged squat I’m thinking about those turns next year. Keep your tips up boys
Have a friend who is heading to Whistler to snowboard next month and looking to get them some sort of gift as a thank you. I know nothing about Whistler or skiing/snowboarding. Can anyone think of something nice for like $300? First thought was a local restaurant gift card but seems a little impersonal. FYI they’re apparently a pretty decent snowboarder.
making the trek tomorrow AM. Gonna be a rough one leaving from Boulder but excited to ski some powder.
not sure if this has been answered but depends on budget, company, and what you want in the time around your skiing sun valley isn’t home but we’ve hit it a fair bit and our ski guru has been sending it since the 70s. Happy to help if I can.
I have a couple friends in Hokkaido too. Incredible powder dumps but they’ve been frustrated with crowds and lack of steepness.
Breck this weekend with GoodForAnother and some other college buddies. Never been (usually ski Keystone/Copper/Winter Park) so excited for trails that are new to me
Looking to do a trip out west this summer with kids and I think I am going to look to go to a ski resort as they have all the activities and easy lodging options. Anyone have recommendations? Considering Big Sky/Jackson in that we could also hit up Yellowstone/Grand Teton. But also considering Vail/Breck/Winter Park/Deer Valley because of easy flights
Jackson Hole + Grand Teton National Park. Next question is do you rent a house Mountain Village or an RV to stay in the park. Either will work. Jackson Hole in the summer is in the top top tier of vacations and family vacations. Don’t over think it.
I'm hoping again to Snowboard tomorrow but still trying to ease myself back and not do anything stupid. Anyone have any general advice on how quickly snow turns into really hard pack? For instance today the temperature at Mt. Hood Meadow's base will get around 37 and then 26 tonight, it hasn't gotten above freezing in a while and there's been plenty of snow since then. Tomorrow it will get around 41 so obviously melting a bit, but i'm guessing it takes at least a few consecutive days of no snow with a thaw and freeze cycle for it to get really hard right? Until I get better at not catching an edge I don't want to go the mountain again if it's really hard stuff.
