Looking at songs I have not seen just from regular albums updated list: 1. Smile 2. Dissident 3. Last Exit 4. Not For You 5. In my Tree 6. Brain of J 7. All Those Yesterdays 8. Unthought Known 9. Push Me Pull Me 10. Oceans
They play it a lot but not as much as you would think. I've only seen them 4 times. I haven't heard Dissident but I've heard a lot of Lightning Bolt songs!
In my tree is another one of those songs I never realized they don’t play a ton. It’s such a great live song. They generally play it a little higher tempo.
Yeah which is why I want to hear it live. I had so many bootlegs back in the day I've listened to almost every song played live a million times.
Letter from the Band News March 9 2020 As residents of the city of Seattle, we’ve been hit hard and have witnessed firsthand how quickly these disastrous situations can escalate. Our kids’ schools have closed along with universities and businesses. It’s been brutal and it’s gonna get worse before it gets better. So we are being told that being part of large gatherings is high on the list of things to avoid as this global health crisis is now beginning to affect all of our lives. Unfortunately, communing in large groups is a huge part of what we do as a band and the tour we’ve been busy planning for months is now in jeopardy... We have and will always keep the safety and well-being of our supporters as top priority. So it is with deep frustration and regret that we are forced to make this most unfortunate of announcements... This scheduled first leg of our PJ/Gigaton tour will need to be postponed and shows rescheduled for a later date. We’ve worked hard with all our management and business associates to find other solutions or options but the levels of risk to our audience and their communities is simply too high for our comfort level. Add to that we also have a unique group of passionate fans who travel far and wide. We’ve always been humbled by this and respect their energies and devotion. However in this case, travel is something to avoid. It certainly hasn’t helped that there’s been no clear messages from our government regarding people’s safety and our ability to go to work. Having no examples of our national health department’s ability to get ahead of this, we have no reason to believe that it will be under control in the coming weeks ahead. Again, here in Seattle what we are witnessing we would not wish for anyone. What we do wish for the rest of the country is that they can avoid the harsh negative effects of this and retain their sense of community and take care of one another. Just as we look forward to our next concerts and the ability to gather together and play loud songs as energized as ever. We are so sorry… And deeply upset... If anyone out there feels the same based on this news, we share that emotion with you. - Ed & Pearl Jam
full album has leaked. pretty good after one listen and i am not a big fan of the two singles released thus far.
Like it better than the last two. A song or two that would be better as Ed solo. Has not/likely will not eclipse any album other than previous two on my ranking. Need several more tlistens.
Me too. I really like the Zeppelin-esque guitar/drum grooves. After multiple listens the first two songs have also really grown on me. I have held out and not listened to the leaks. Pumped for Friday. Edit: the more I listen to it, Quick Escape definitely sounds like an Audioslave song
The full Gigaton will be playing starting at midnight eastern on Pearl Jam's SiriusXM station. They claim they will be playing it a bunch over the weekend.
Got a good laugh out of Jeff talking about he thought there were times they might break up. It’s pretty common knowledge around No Code and then after Roskilde they almost broke up. Eddie is just like “that’s news to me.” Funny how in his own little world he always is.
With so many years together and so much water under the bridge, it’s cool to here them talk about the old days. I don’t really buy Ed’s “thats news to me” bit though, but that’s just Ed I guess.
Yeah was nice to hear them open up a bit more. Especially Ed. Ament was on the Powell podcast a couple of years ago and apparently is a good deep dive on him and Pearl Jam.
Fuck, Pearl Jam 20, will be 10 years old next year. Going to have to put that on top of my watch list soon.
Yesterday my 5 year old son was running around the house yelling “Quick Escape!” and tonight he randomly went into the kitchen and said “Alexa, play Quick Escape” Guessing he’s heard me play that song a few times.
Written by an extremely underrated songwriter and imo, the band member I would most like to hang with. JA.
Cool, kinda thought it was an Eddie song. No idea who I'd pick to hang out with, but I'm definitely tempted by that contest they're doing right now where you donate to their foundation for chances to win a trip to Seattle to hang out with Eddie and Jeff
Recently purchased this...complete scores for every album through Lightning Bolt $49 on Amazon. Happy with the purchase except the print is minuscule :/ They could have left out the drum parts as far as I'm concerned but I guess that's not a "complete score"
Jeff also wrote the lyrics and music for Nothing as it Seems. He and stone wrote the majority of the music on the first albums.
Pretty meh but I can vibe to it a little bit when it comes up on my 2020 Albums shuffle. Not sure what I'd rate as favorite song. First half of the album seems to be stronger
I like a few songs, meh on a few and hope to avoid hearing a few once they play live again. Their last 3 albums have been disappointing to me and by far my 3 least favorite. I could probably make 1 album of songs I enjoy off of the three.
