Flight delayed briefly, had time for a 6 AM airport Blue Moon. It’s going to be a long day. Will post some pics from Cashman if I remember.
Update: Got to the hotel this morning and a cop stopped our Lyft from pulling into the parking lot. “Sorry, a shooting just happened l. Didn’t get a chance to put the cones up yet. You can drop them off here though.” Everyone’s general nonchalantness about this happening was quite off putting. Needless to say found a new hotel. I’ve done a good bit of traveling and seen some sketchy stuff but this is up there. Certainly wasn’t expecting this trip to be memorable for that kind of reason.
Another win tonight, and halfway through the season it's no surprise which two teams have the highest point totals in the league Jimmy the Saint
Legion FC checking in. How does everyone feel about the rest of season? Match against ATL FC 2 was brutal for them.
Hell yeah good draw. I’m at the season ticket member event for Rising and they had it up on the scoreboard.
I thought it was crazy when it leaked that Vermes was pulling out all the stops to sign some 14 year old out of Carolina. Seeing him get a game winning assist on his first start at 16 made me do a double take. Meeting that scrawny kid with goofy hair that year made me realize how crazy it is that these kids and their families put it all on the table in chase of a dream.
Yo El_Pato has Locomotive put out any plans for a soccer specific stadium yet United’s been pushing one for downtown ABQ since the summer but polls came in that 59% would vote against
Nothing in the local news nor in the local Monarchs boards. I’ve posted in them asking if anyone knows anything.
Apparently there was a fight between several players inside the Austin goal in the 85th. The Austin GK and a Monarch’s forward were red-carded. No news about a police report yet.
What in the fuck is going on, losing to Galaxy II 3-0 first 30 minutes, outshooting them 5-3 and possession is like 70-30
DirtBall https://www.rslsoapbox.com/2021/10/...e-police-report-on-behalf-of-fernando-delgado the Real Monarchs goalie in that game is 15 years old and the Austin scumbag physically assaulted him, throwing punches. I hope he gets jail time and a perma ban from USL.
They were doomed as soon as MLS got announced imo Ain’t nobody driving out to COTA to see second division soccer when you’ve got a better option in town
We deserved to lose. Wish we would move on from Schantz, who basically built his success off Drogba, but we literally just signed him to a 3-year extension. He has no fucking clue how to work with what he’s given.
Not really, they finished 2nd in 2016 and made it to the conference quarterfinals but have been pretty mid since then. Latching themselves to Houston Dynamo for five years likely didn't help, but they went independent in 2020 and right now they're on a hell of a hot streak. Hope they can start building some support in the area based on this run because at least from afar it seems like Liga MX has sucked most of the fan energy out of the area until now.
Liga MX always sucks the fanbase out, especially when you're so close. That's why Locos signed two of the stalwarts of Juarez to get a crossover. Carrijo is a cult legend with Juarez especially and Locos even though in El Paso he gets like 15 minutes. We will love him till he dies
Y'all definitely have an excellent symbiosis with Juarez and have played your cards perfectly on that front. It's not a coincidence that a lot of people cross the border to go to matches of both teams in one weekend. IDK if San Diego does the same thing with Tijuana but they'd be fools not to imo. I think RGV suffers a bit from their potential counterparts in Matamoros and Reynosa being in the third tier of Mexican football and shut down, respectively, and Monterrey's too far away to really facilitate a lot of crossover. So I hope they can get the area on board organically with a deep playoff run. Their stadium is very nice and they should be getting more than 2-3k fans per game. Would love to see RGV and San Antonio become as spicy of a rivalry as United/Locos.
oh btw here's a United news dump since we're apparently being messy as hell lately Also Devon Sandoval's season was shut down in late October due to blood clot issues, at the team event I went to the word was it could derail his playing career forever
A lot of that has to do with it being pretty much the same ownership group. They've done a great job of cross branding. But fuck, both teams are owned by the same billionaire so spend the money and bring the players
