What else could the town people do but scowl at her? They just experienced first hand how powerful she is.
Not really sure I get the underwhelming thought. Maybe I went into the show differently but this wasn’t supposed to have all storylines tied up. And I think what happened in Westview will linger in other spaces they try. So the Hayward only getting arrested, to me, was just a sign they knew who created White Vision. Related to Darcy and Monica they played minor, albeit important roles, and the purpose seemed to set up something next for both within the MCU (notably Monica). White Vision to me seems like a cliffhanger and again to set up something down the line. Obviously the big question is where did he fly off to which everyone has. The Monica and Wanda thing I think was alluded to from the beginning. Monica knew Wanda was really hurting and she said in an earlier episode helping her undo everything was their best shot. Doesn’t mean she didn’t wish to alter realty to be with her mom who she didn’t have a chance to say goodbye. So to Monica all seems reasonable if you have the power. As for Wanda leaving, that doesn’t seem surprising to me. The FBI was just entering when she flew away and they stood no chance against that. The people who were under her control were scared shitless. And after discovering her powers, along with being the Avenger least likely to care about clean up, she wanted to be alone.
Disappointed that I couldn’t gloat that I called Fassbender in this finale over 2 years ago but oh well. Wanda in the Darkhold is crazy scary. A lot of phase 4 will resolve around that. Mephisto/Nightmare will tempt her with the”kids”, it’s connected to the fall of Atlantis, the creation of Vampires, Zemo, Doom, lots of villains have used it. Multiple Nexus Beings have used it or tried to destroy it. Also, it’s hilarious Feige 100% shat all over AoS’s version acting like it never happened.
White Vision may have his memories back but he was still a sentient synthesoid. Over time he’ll regain his emotions (as well as his color). 100% he’ll swoop in and save the day when all hope seems lost sometime in Phase 4.
Yo, like how does this not pump you up with the Incredibles pose, music and "Boys! Handle the military!"
Pietro just being an actor named Boner is fucking hilarious. If you’re mad about the episode not doing what you wanted it to, you’re a boner too.
I wasn’t disappointed at all. The series served as a building block just the same as a majority of the MCU films have. I think everyone got caught up in the hype and speculation, but clearly these guys have a proven blueprint and it’s never involved rushing into things.
I didn't need them to tie up all the stories. It just seemed like they spent time putting characters like Darcy and Monica in position to do something by being in the hex at the end, and then didn't really have them involved in the story other than showing Monica's powers and having her reveal the Pietro/X-Men troll. The Hayward thing just seemed out of nowhere to me. He obviously wasn't a good guy, but he's suddenly shooting at a couple kids and Monica because...? It just felt like "we need another villain and don't want it to be Wanda so here you go." The comment by Monica at the end just felt wrong to me. Wanda imprisoned those people and took them away from their families, whether she realized it or not, with her powers. And Monica's line felt like another attempt for the show to absolve Wanda rather than leave the questions about what she did with her powers for her and the audience to deal with.
Remember, Wanda was able to completely dominate a gauntletless Thanos and turn a tiny Jersey town into her personal Nick@Night fapfest. Now she’s harnessed the complete power of the Scarlett Witch and is reading the Darkhold. Shits about to get real.
the devolution from that genrebending brain teaser into a fairly rote spinny blasty comic book fight is actually the biggest letdown for me still loved the entire show of course
I was fairly disappointed by how generic comic book villainy Hayward turned out to be too, you introduce S.W.O.R.D. officially into the MCU and the director is a cookie cutter mustache twirling bad guy who wants all the power to himself? Lame.
I think Wanda’s power and emotion will have her needing to be checked everyone once in a while but I don’t see her as a big bad. she’s was too sympathetic of a character. when the chips are down and the real big bad shows up she’ll be fighting with the good guys.
Yeah pretty clear that Xavier wasn't about to show up in a town without any handicapped parking and no wheelchair ramps
Garrett was charismatic and had an interesting background of being a Hydra deep sleeper agent. Hayward is just a boring tool whose villainy is only rivaled by his bland toolness.
Really enjoyed the witch allusions to prior works, specifically THE WIZARD OF OZ and some camp pulled straight from HOCUS POCUS
But SWORD is way bigger than him. He’s an intro piece in a giant story that will likely never be addressed again. He played his role as temporary director and now the story gets much larger without him. the last few minutes of the finale had serious feels. We got Vision back by way of the one created of Wanda’s memories and pain being injected into a literal SW-powered version of his original body. We established SW as likely the most powerful person in our known character set, which means she has to be one-upped somehow. Darcy was always comic relief and I’m not sure how anyone confused her with getting a larger part. She’s an endearing nerd with jokes. Monica, however, got powers and is likely going to be a massive piece of future space-based phases. She didn’t get a massive role in the finale but I think the series set her up as a major role for years to come. I’m just going to say it: how is Fietro not being viewed as IM3’s Mandarin? How is everyone okay with cheeky writers pulling the rug on the multiverse, while threatening to fire bomb the writers of IM3 for the ruination of Mandarin? Show was amazing and after almost 2 years of MCU downtime, I’m hyped right back up. Bring me more content.
Crazy thing about the timeline is this was just a month removed from Endgame, and Far From Home is still 7 months away. Some of these Westview residents were snapped, then blipped, then Wanda zombies. Since we’re just 4 weeks from half the universe and himself reappearing, Strange has probably been incredibly busy.
The series is about Wanda. Feige wasn’t going to have some character introduced that overtakes her jfc.
I mean, what else would they do? Attack her? I think they realized that if she could make a whole town turn into the 50's while mind-controlling everyone in the town simultaneously, that she could probably kick all of their asses.
It's weird that the current lineup of stories, with the exception of Black Widow, take place 2023 (5 years after the snap), so one positive from all the covid delays is that the MCU date is closer to our present date than it would be. Dr. Strange 2 is supposed to be set in 2023. It was originally going to release in 2021. Now it's coming out in 2022.
I really enjoyed it but felt a little rushed...battle was over 25 minutes in so they could fit the Wanda / Visión goodbye in the end. Great series, finale should have been an hour or hour and half long IMO
I disagree with the “they would never do it on a TV show crowd.” Disney+ Isn’t even a year and a half old and they already have 3 of the top 5 streamed shows in the world (Mandalorian has caused everyone to rewatch or watch for the first time TCWs). There will be some “HOLY SHIT THATS LUKE SKYWALKER!!!” moments in these Disney+ series. Knowing Fiege though it’ll be when we least expect it, insanely stunning, and perfect.
This was the first season of the first series, though. Mando didn't get the cameos from Clone Wars characters until season 2 when it knew what kind of reaction it was getting and the audience was there. Going for massive reveals that reset the MCU going forward would have been a huge risk. I wouldn't be surprised if the show hinted at so many possibilities and cameos and fakes as a test case to see what the audience reaction would be on this medium. Now that they have a better idea of where they are and can go on D+ series, I think they'll be more likely to go for those things in the future.
I read no fan theories or anything else before the finale and loved it. The whole show was fantastic. Just my two cents
I do hope White Vision gets a paint job. I get the comic book source material, but he looks likes an unfinished cg model
i avoided spoilers and binged the entire show over the last two days. i really, really liked it. especially the earlier episodes where there's mystery about the town/the changes. and just the high concept of the sitcom. i wast disappointed in theories coming true because, as a non-comic book reader, i didn't have theories. i looked through some of this thread last night and I'm glad that's the case. i know a lot of people enjoy theorizing twists and directions and whatnot but i preferred just taking the show for what it is. i still didn't really like the finale for a lot of the reasons MG2 mentioned above. i also just don't want more big boss battles of the same kind (see: Black Panther, Iron Man, Ant Man, etc. etc.) so the big fight of witch vs witch (and to a lesser extent, vision vs vision... but this one was sort of interesting) fell a little flat to me. still, great show overall and I'm excited for more of wanda in movies/wherever they take her story.
