I do as well, but hate the date window on the SMP300 & the red font / second hand on most models ... That, plus the reverse relief of the waves on mine (more matte, less polish) led me to the ceramic version, despite the 43.5mm pushing the boundaries of what I should wear.
Yeah, it's this model... my wrist isn't THAT small https://www.omegawatches.com/en-us/...ial-master-chronometer-43-5-mm-21092442001001
Think it's only wearable because of the way Omega's OEM rubber strap tapers straight down. Assume it would be unwearable for me on their NATO
Baltic dropping a nice piece today https://baltic-watches.com/en/products/aquascaphe-bronze-blue-gilt
How does the rubber strap do in the heat? I'm a sweaty bastard, and generally wear nato's so I can take them off to clean them regularly.
No issue whatsoever. While I don’t have a sweating problem, it’s hot as fuck in Jax 9 months out of the year. Rubber is the way to go… I change out my IWC BP43 to their OEM rubber strap as well. I flip-flop between that & the posted SMP300 during the hottest months.
I was looking for an anniversary gift for my wife today and they gave me a deal on this Black Bay that I could not turn down.
Thanks gents! Super happy for the 2 hours it's been here, lol. Not as thick on the wrist as I had heard, chunky but not overly heavy. Stays in place nicely. I found out friday that UPS doesn't deliver to my locale on saturdays, not even for overnight packages. Some shipping refunded, and add 48 hours to the wait.
I ordered a Strapcode oyster bracelet for the Black Bay I just picked up and I am pleasantly suprised by the quality. I will also say the Crown and Buckle chevron straps are really nice.
I’ll never get tired of subs. 34y old and truly a classic. Dress it up, down, pass it on to your child. Timeless timepiece and worthy of being the standard of the community. And I know Jorts doesn’t favor r/WatchExchange but there are good sellers and good purchases to be made there:
I’m there all the time, and don’t have anything against it. Just not worth the risk to me on higher end pieces… questions on authenticity, maintenance/care & not wanting a watch that tells someone else’s story. With the exception of a few elite brands, and Rolex, I can access everything else at 20-25% under MSRP… and get a 5-8 year warranty. It’s about mitigating risk, more than anything. I’ve been pretty vocal about being anti-Rolex in the past & my sentiment hasn’t really changed despite owning quite a few. Really just the safest brand that I can park $$$ & access.
Biggest problem I have is that new Subs don’t have the same character with the ceramic bezels. My fever dream is that Rolex allows you to pick the materials and brings back aluminum bezels and goes to a direct sales model. When pigs fly.
Agreed. Buddy has like a 10 year old sub, and the bracelet on that thing feels cheap and is kind of terrible. The newer bracelets with the easy adjustments are wayyyyyyy better.
Anyone can. Just call around to multiple ADs (preferably ADs without a store in your state) & you’ll find someone willing to negotiate. 10-20% reduction off MSRP is “fair”, depending on brand & model popularity Avoid sales tax (out of state AD only) Spoiler I declare 100% of my sales tax saving on watch purchase to the State of Florida. Promise Free insured shipping
Isn’t Omega trying to prevent discounts now? I’d be hard pressed to buy one since they would always knock at least 15% off most models a few years ago.
If you are trying to build rapport with teh AD, trying to hammer them on every purchase won't get you very far
I haven’t bought one in years but I remember seeing the rumor somewhere. I always thought it was a crazy idea since there is pretty much always availability on 99% of their watches.
Zenith, yeah... but will likely depend on the model. Tudor being under the Rolex umbrella, not likely. I came very close to pulling the trigger on the Zenith Skyline last year, right after the release & was getting a deal 10-15% under MSRP
